The name of one was Moab whose descendents were Moabites; and the name of the other was Ben-ammi whose descendants were the Ammonites.
The Moabites and the Ammonites were staunch enemies of the Israelites, even before the Israelites entered the promised land on their way from Egypt (Numbers 22:1 - 25:9).
Psalm 83 describes the attempts by the 'children of Lot' (i.e. the people of Jordan 🇯🇴 who identify as the so-called Palestinians), with the help from many other nations, to wipe the name of Israel 🇮🇱 from the face of the earth. They will be consoled after the pain they felt for the city as they watch the extravagant consolation God has prepared for her. God makes clear that His comfort comes as He transforms the circumstances of Jerusalem. It is not only an inner reality.
God will comfort those who love Jerusalem as a mother comforts her child. This is a rare scripture using the language of motherhood to describe the extraordinary tenderness of God. The consolation will take place in Jerusalem: “You shall be comforted in Jerusalem.” There will be gladness and delight for those who see the abundance of her glory.
