Aragorn actually grew up in Rivendell and Elrond was his foster father. It doesn’t really come out in the movie, but the two have a very loving relationship. When Elrond says Aragorn has chosen exile, he means Aragorn is so scared of his potential to fall to the ring, that he has chosen to stay a ranger rather than fulfill his destiny as king.

One thing I love about this trilogy is that Peter Jackson presents it as history rather than make-believe. It grounds it and makes it seem more real. Everyone involved in this trilogy gave every skill they had to make it amazing. For example, Instead of just putting the Nazgul in simple black robes, the costume dept gave them the fine material, embroidery, etc a king would wear, and then aged the clothing. It’s not something the audience consciously sees, but we register it on a subconscious level and all these details add to the realism of this world.

Your cheerful "Neeeed!" made me grin like a fool; I'm so used to GoT reactors going "Oh, that's the guy from Lord of the Rings!" Don't think I've ever seen someone flip the script on Sean Bean's appearance. :)
Of course, these two iconic roles (and a few others) have given Sean Bean a bit of a meme, for, uhm, reasons.
As for the long intro at the beginning - they had to sum up several books and a few thousand years of lore, it's a miracle they kept it as brief as they did. The rest they weave in as the movies go along, like Gandalf's mention of 'that business with the dragon'.

He is part elf. More human then elf. She is the daughter of Elrond and the granddaughter of Galadriel. The lore is that Elrond and Elros are half elf, 1/4 human, and 1/4 miar. Because of this, they had to chose elf or human. Elrond chose Elf, but his brother chose human. Aragorn is from Elros line. Of course, this is all a theory that Tolkien threw out. Dwarfs and elves have a dislike that spawns through the millennia.

Saruman never served Sauron nor bent to him at all in the books. The Gandalf locked in the Tower bit is explained ONLY in the Unfinished Tales Book: In [manuscript-C) The Black Riders arrived at the Gate of Isengard while Gandalf was still a prisoner in the tower. In this account, Saruman, in fear & despair, & perceiving the full horror of service to Mordor, resolved suddenly to yield to Gandalf, & to beg for his pardon & help. Temporizing at the Gate, he admitted that he had Gandalf within, & said that he would go & try to discover what he knew; if that were unavailing, he would deliver Gandalf up to them. Then Saruman hastened to the summit of Orthanc - & found Gandalf gone. Away south against the setting moon he saw a great Eagle flying towards Edoras.
See, the thing is he was always master of studying the enemy & even being able to think like they do to always know exactly the best ways to handle ever situation and so on, but the thing is he didn't just become the enemy, he at this time in a sense for once actually grew afraid of him, probably Sauron did what Sauron did with Finrod Felagund in the duel of visions, (Galadriel’s elder brother who by the way was the most important in the Legendarium & is the main reason the third age even exists) which basically widdled Saruman with various visions of the past and future until it wore him down, but Saruman(Curumo) was the mostly already becoming weary due to what was called The Long Defeat, magic bleeding out from the lands of middle earth and subsequently certain things become less and less possible and the elves begin to go west.
Even the ones who never wished to leave middle earth and many of which were born here by the thousands.
So him also being a student and helper of Aulë of the Valar he was going to fight fire with fire and make a bid for the ring just so Sauron could never regain full power and if Saruman found a way to release himself from his power restrictions even by any small margin or worked with Eru in some way it might have worked out in the end if things went differently enough to where such action from him would be needed.
Ontop of that he was growing ever jealous of Gandalf for he received the Varya from Círdan and prior to that was chosen by the other Valar, Nienna’s chosen champion to go to middle earth. But Gandalf(Olórin back then) refused over and over and exclaimed his fear of Sauron(Mairon), varya I feel would have kindle the heart of Saruman to stay strong as he had been fighting the evils of the world for a very long time since he had been sent to Middle Earth.
And for the is reason Saruman wished to hold the ring at hostage. Keep Sauron from taking back his full strength and basically use it to stave off The Long Defeat.
Saruman is very complex. The Hobbit movies actually shows how he was even 60 years ago during Bilbo’s story. He was one of the main forces thwarting Sauron for over 2000 years. The Númenoreans: the high men of the west; gifted Saruman with Orthanc which was of their making. Now known as Isengard.
[[Correction given to me recently to which I’ll need to double check for myself regardless:
    The Númenoreans didn't give
Isengard to Saruman, after Helm Hammerhand died, Saruman returned from his journeys in the far east, and sort of "occupied it by friendly force", Fréaláf (the new King of Rohan) told Saruman to contact Beren (Gondor's Steward), which gladly gave
Orthanc's key to the wizard (grave mistake). ]]
    -
Saruman is actually trying to doublecross sauron and wanted Gandalf to simply help him subdue toe rings evil so they could use it to defeat Sauron together as a single duo-unit. He wants the ring for himself for what was still a noble reason. He thinks he can control it. The little orcs around saruman are from mordor - sauron's orcs sent to help saruman but also to spy on him. The big fighting orcs - the uruk hai - are loyal only to Saruman.
Orcs are like that. But it’s why Saruman’s orders are a bit vague - to avoid sauron's orcs knowing what Saruman is doing. The movies dont make this bit of the story very clear. But notice that, while Saruman knows where the fellowship is he never lets Sauron Know.

Bilbo is one of two people who gave up the ring. It’s a huge deal that he could give it up. It’s also a huge deal that his “corruption” is minor. Without getting into too much detail, the ring latches on to a person’s fears and desires and their will to control others and twists that against them. Bilbo had no desire to rule anyone and was mostly content to live a good life in Hobbiton and go on the occasional adventure. He’s got very little the Ring can latch onto, other than a ring-generated unwillingness to let it go. Gandalf has a huge amount of power as a wizard, and his mission is to help the free peoples fight Sauron. With the exception of Sauron and Saruman, he’s probably the most powerful person in Middle-earth. If the Ring corrupted him, he’d turn into the next dark lord, and, possibly, be worse than Sauron.
A little trivia about the other rings of power: The Seven and the Nine were made with Sauron’s direct influence. The Nine worked like he wanted them to, and he enslaved the Nazgul. The Seven didn’t let him control the dwarven bearers, but it did enhance their greed for gold, so they only partially worked like Sauron wanted them to. Sauron had no hand in forging the Three for the elves, but they were created with his technology/magic. They aren’t corrupted by Sauron, and, as long as Sauron doesn’t have the One, the elven bearers can use their rings for preservation, protection, and healing. They use them to help them fight against Sauron.

He comes to realize that he is not powerful enough to truly bend the ring to his will. That it will eventually overcome him. Isildur resolves to give the ring to Elrond but is killed on the way to Rivendel. It's a tragic story of a man that tries to right his wrong but ultimately fails.
In the books isildur literally repented and was about to bring the ring to Rivendell and apologize as he recognized it was beyond him even for a great numenorean connected to the faithful line of the mighty Elendil
I preface the prologue & war, other depictions I LOVE, captured the themes WELL, the vibe of the whole trilogy! The significance of the duel between Elendil & Sauron was Nerffed; (He wasn’t some random old bloke in armour getting smacked around) This man was MIGHTY and gleaming with power which you’ll find out in the great videos you’ll soon react to with joy!
    * He and Gil-Galad; last true Elven King battled Sauron and slayed Sauron’s physical body and both died in the process. GilGalad was held high by the face for all free peoples to see as he then incinerated his bodily form to a crisp of ash! Isildur was part of the fight too but not as prominently and he just comes up to the body to cut the ring finger off and…. So one example is how easily Sauron is killed in the intro.
    * • He's set up as this super powered badass, but all you have to do is cut off his finger? That's not how it went down in the book, where the greatest man-king and the greatest elven-king had to double-team Sauron to strike down his body, but were killed in the effort (Isildur then cuts the ring from the corpse).
Especially for elves the title of king has many meanings & by the Third Age there isn’t a population large enough to even attempt to such a thing as creating a unified kingdom, which would put a target on their backs, let alone many of them are beyond all of that anyway as it’s seen as doing more harm than anything good.
    * They also seen what happened when the elves fell upon the swords of their own hubris and passion no matter if it was for the right reasons some of the time. That it always ended up in some sort of tragedy which sometimes even damaged the earth itself.
They had long known about what’s called the Long Defeat as ever since Morgoth’s marring of the land itself; pouring his remnants into it that caused the “magic” to slowly drain away from the land itself, which is sad because for ages several clans of elves were born there. even the greatest ancestors were “born” in middle earth awakening to the stars !
Many of who are left have accepted the next phase of their life which is to become councillors, healers and loremasters to those with the heart to listen and the desire to learn. But above all the guardians and custodians of several things and the world itself for as long as they can remain!❤ The elves “exist” as long as the world does. And Tolkien made it obvious in many ways that it’s our world as he restored Anglo Saxon culture/Mythologies and folklore, and their languages too alongside Irish, Welsh and Finnish mythologies too. Especially Norwegian(of which I am)
This is what Amazon (the show that shall not be named) didn’t deliver either [[AKA the actual story which inspired everything we love into existence with games and movies and books and so forth. Skyrim, elder scrolls, oblivion, Diablo, and world of Warcraft and D&D. And Game Of Thrones was hugely inspired by Tolkien… yet as the godfather of everything and the heart of what caused many peoples lives to be saved cannot get the justice it deserves for adaptations?
People literally conquered cancer because of the books and the trilogy, the books were read to their children for years. All 25 of them. The man was a hugely respected scholar and professor in the world. Translated ancient artifacts and hieroglyphs and petroglyphs and so forth for the government etc.
(JRR Tolkien even rejected being recruited into the CIA several times & he wrote everyone by letter and referenced the dudes who came to him as “little boys who knew not what they got themselves into” which showed his fearlessness.). The readers of the trilogy that came out are who he writes back to despite always replying to everyone back and forth.
Many people have shared the stories regarding these conversations which were past down throughout the family lines of the people who had a personal relationship with Tolkien which was hundreds of people when he was alive. Thousands. (Some are in video format too or happened to be shared later on in the video or comes up during a video about him and his work.
Especially nowadays when many of us came out of the woodwork to defend professor Tolkiens legacy from amazons money grubbing hands and so forth. Giving many channels a new lease on life where some make Tolkien related content now amongst other things they create content wise.

There has been some discussion whether to watch the extended version or not, so here is the only correct way to watch it:
    1. Watch only the theatrical cut for like five years until you know the whole thing by memory
    2. Watch the extended version and be thrilled by the new scenes. Again, watch until you have it all memoriesed.
    3. Do a theater marathon and cry way too much.
    4. Watch while eating a dinner like Denethor

Can I recommend the book The Complete Guide to Middle Earth by Robert Foster ?
It was a large paperback that was out of print for a decades but has recently been re-issued in expensive hardcover due to popular demand. But if you can pick up a copy of the original paperback on ebay or ABE books, it might be cheaper. But what it is, is an encyclopedia of every proper noun in the writings of Tolkien. Every person, every place and every object that has a name, has an entry in the book explaining who, what or where this person/thing is in Middle Earth and its history. Some entries are quite brief, others go on for more than a page. I found it invaluable while reading the books back in the 70s.
The original paperback had a nice painting of the Fellowship by Greg and Tim Hildebrandt for the cover. Way back before the movies we had to rely solely on our imaginations and the imaginations of artists like the Hildebrandts to show us what Middle Earth looked like.

No, Frodo did not put on the ring. The ring willed on it's own to be put on Frodo's finger so the black riders can find him. The ring has the power to control those who have it's possession. Many reactors think that Frodo puts the ring on his finger, but it is the ring that forces Frodo to put it on. The ring has a will of it's own, and it is a very powerful evil ring. The ring's only Master is Sauron and it is trying to get back to him.

100% prefer you to pause to talk. People talking over Very Important Dialog drives me absolutely bonkers, especially when they keep asking questions or are confused by something that has been already explained (that they either spoke over or just weren't paying attention)
(Little things like not remembering the # of rings for the Elves vs Men, I do not include in the rant above; I refer to larger, more Plot Relevant information)
You always have interesting questions, or point out little details that are usually missed by first-time (&2nd/3rd time) viewers, so it's always a delight to hear your thoughts. You are right on the money so often with your predictions, showing the level of your attention & knowledge of genre tropes. Even when you are actually off on a prediction, your reasoning is perfectly sound.
