I've got this kit and it sounds killer man. Toms cut through nicely but also have a nice 'weight' to them as well, and the kick drum is just huge, absolute monster
I just bought a set of these in Black, I am In love. My first set of Tamas,. Been playing 36 years and most in bars, gone through a Lot of kits, I've been a firm Pearl fan, but an amazing deal on this kit came up, Was bought new, Played 2 hours, and put away ( doing renos) , and the guy just lost time to play them, They are literally Brand new.. Love the virgin bass drum, Hardware is awesome. I am replacing the stock heads with Remo black onix pinstripes , which on the black kit , the hardware is black chrome, so the black on black with white stripe should look and sound awsome
Hey! how did you end up liking them?? I'm considering getting this kit for my first. I'm new to drumming, and I just rented a Mapex Armory kit = junk (In my opinion).
They are an incredible kit.. I also own a set of Mapex Meridian Maples .. they are both pretty close in tone. I changed the heads to remo pinstripe ebony on them $$ but worth it price, mellowed out the kit , sounds like Butter. The stock heads were still pretty good. ,I threw them on a student kit .. i got mine for $400 Canadian with cymbals,, but deals like that are Super rare.. ;) Hope this helps and best of luck.. Keep drumming
The tune-bot is a device that helps you tuning your drum kit. You put it on the rim of your drum and hit the drum, the tune bot is reading then the frequenz that your drum is producing. And it can tell then if you have to crank up your head more or lover it. So in one sentence it's a tuning help for drummers.
This kit sounds better than all the other reviews they’ve done of kits that cost 5 times more than this kit. This is a low-mid level tama kit and it destroys the DW collectors and performance series and the Yamaha recording customs and phx to my ears. I have a tama starclassic BB hyperdrive 5 piece and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
There are no intermediate drums. There are good sounding drums and there are bad sounding drums - it's a matter of taste not money. Forget about the price. I've played many "intermediate" drums who kick my Starclassic Maples ass - again, to my ears (taste). Should have bought 4 "cheaper"drums instead of one expensive...
I just wanted to know if the floor toms have to be tuned so loose to get low enough tones out of them. This is a problem I'm running into with my 14" ft on my B/B's.?
Great sound! What overhead mics did you use? Did you use a room mic? Is most of the sound coming from the close mics or overheads? Your toms especially sound great!
Unbelievable sound! I have the exact same kit in the same color but never had it sounding that great. My problem was not tuning, I knew how to tune but I never really knew what the ideal pitch for each drum was. I used this drum sound to tune by and already everything is sounding amazing! Just out of curiosity, how do you tune your snare? It sounds tight but not choked which is exactly what I'm after.
Hey ! Nice vid, you got great skills and amazing sound ! I have a question for you please: I just bought a second hand Hyperdrive and I'm trying to tune it right. I think your kit is 10/12/14/16 respectively tuned in D# / Bb / F / Eb Am I right ? I just want to make my kit sound as good as possible ! Thank you !
Hello. How is this drum set? It is bass drum (22 x 18) tom (10 x 6,5 + 12 x 7) floor tom (14 x 12 + 16 x 14) snare drum (14 x 5,5) or other? Thank you....:)
if i helps, he is doing a triplet roll mixed in with different accents on different drums. i come from drum line and this the only way i can explain this. Hoped it helped you!!!
I own a Tama superstar drum set, and i recently purchased the only Tama 8" tom that was matching my set. But it's original wrapping was stripped, and the drum was painted blue, and my drum is with original black wrap. I searched everywhere and couldn't find a matching color. Wrote an email to Tama europe, no success, wrote an email to Drumeo, in hopes they could help me out, with a contact email address from Tama drums, no success. Can anyone from the community help me out ?
+sm6758 PDP if you like just the mellow over toned sound on the toms. but if you like fair amount of mellow and also watch some punch and attack then go for tama superstar not necessarily hyperdrive even normal sizes would do because no doubt tama makes the best sounding kits out of birch than any other brand . i am saying this to my experience, others make but tama stuff over birch is just something else. also look over the features PDP has the mounting system as of dw which i belive is better than any other mount but also the star mount has a tone of its own. as it relies on the hoop of the head it chokes down the sound but chocked sounds = good punch. so you can decide it for yourself. yes but the tama ones have die cast hoops again which is so much better than the regular flanged hoop for me it helps me to tune the drums faster and is also stabler than flanged hoop. but again the PDP snare has the mag throw off system which i guess is far the best throwoff which the tama kit does not have but the diecast hoops on the snare of the tama makes it pop much better as the rim shot sounds so much better on a die cast hoop. so i guess these are the things you need to know. so my suggestion is if you are for something easy to tune and easy to setup and good hardware and want to play over the kit more than feedling over it than go for tama and if you are someone who wants fast size toms, the mellow maple overtones, and the dw touch on your kit than go for the PDPs. i am saying this all over my own experience because i have played both the kits over live shows and also in few studios.
this demo is perfection
I come back to this from time to time. Nice. Crisp. Tight.
Finally - after listening to all demos of this kit on YT - somebody who knows how to tune, play and record properly. Amazing work.
You should do a video showing how yo mix and record drums because it sounds amazing!! But in english.
kepo lu njing !
I've got this kit and it sounds killer man. Toms cut through nicely but also have a nice 'weight' to them as well, and the kick drum is just huge, absolute monster
I love the demos you guys do!
Man I love the way this drums sound beautiful.
Seriously great playing dude.
This kid always makes the kits sound so good but Tama seriously does sound good
the only thing that lets this kit down is the stock snare drum.
I want this kit, and you are KILLING it man. Incredible playing!
DRUMGARAGE you are fantastic and your drums are tuned perfect! Great rolls and stuff. I can learn from you! I'm a Tama man!

@luca moreale I believe they are remo clear ambassadors or clear emperors
so good. 🥁🔥
its so amazing how some mics and software can make an intermediate set sound so awesome. Has anyone heard an acoustic set just sound great on its own?
Dude pls are you serious?
Joshua Ongenae What do you mean by that? An acoustic set will never sound as good as a set that is mic'd upped.
I own this drumset and can attest to the fact that it doesn't sound anywhere near this good in person.
dude, probably your tuning and the room your drums are in, alot of factors count in to the sound.
There are no intermediate drums. There are good sounding drums and there are bad sounding drums - it's a matter of taste not money. Forget about the price. Drums look and sound great! Can anybody tell what kind of Cymbals he's using??? Just curious.

Where the fuck do you buy it???????
Ive got a second hand 7 piece one for sale in aus ;)
Just wondering what processing is used like eq settings for each drum... compression..gates? Tuning is the easy part I also use the tune bot.
I just wanted to know if the floor toms have to be tuned so loose to get low enough tones out of them. This is a problem I'm running into with my 14" ft on my B/B's.?
Thanks. What are the tunings for the 10 and 12 inch toms?
Hej nice set ! could you precise exatly what is your package ?
Saudades da minha Tama! Era exatamente igual a essa, mas tive que vender para sair do aluguel 😭🙏🏻

Perfeito o som da batera.

Great sound! What overhead mics did you use? Did you use a room mic? Is most of the sound coming from the close mics or overheads? Your toms especially sound great!
What skin are you using in this video?

Or is it D# / Bb / F / F ?
I think it's D / A# / F# / D
Awesome drum sound and playing! Did you use the Tune-bot on the toms also?
Were these drums easy to tune?
Hello. How is this drum set?

Best Greetings.

Anyone know if this is the maple or birch shells?
+Harrison Smooth Birch. But the Hyperdrive series have maple available now too if that's your thing.
+Harrison Smooth it should be birch but they have a maple version now as well
+Harrison Smooth In the US, they're made of birch. in the UK and Asia, they're made of maple.
What is that China?
Im between this one, the Pdp Concept maple, and the Gretsch Catalina, all 7 piece, any suggestions?
+sm6758 PDP concept. Less known than any other, but they sound great.
Yeah, i think i'll get the PDP, thanks man!
No problem, im sure u will love them.
+sm6758 PDP if you like just the mellow over toned sound on the toms.
but if you like fair amount of mellow and also watch some punch and attack then go for tama superstar not necessarily hyperdrive even normal sizes would do because no doubt tama makes the best sounding kits out of birch than any other brand . i am saying this to my experience, others make but tama stuff over birch is just something else.
also look over the features
PDP has the mounting system as of dw which i belive is better than any other mount but also the star mount has a tone of its own. as it relies on the hoop of the head it chokes down the sound but chocked sounds = good punch. so you can decide it for yourself.
yes but the tama ones have die cast hoops again which is so much better than the regular flanged hoop for me it helps me to tune the drums faster and is also stabler than flanged hoop.
but again the PDP snare has the mag throw off system which i guess is far the best throwoff which the tama kit does not have
but the diecast hoops on the snare of the tama makes it pop much better as the rim shot sounds so much better on a die cast hoop.
so i guess these are the things you need to know.
so my suggestion is if you are for something easy to tune and easy to setup and good hardware and want to play over the kit more than feedling over it than go for tama and
if you are someone who wants fast size toms, the mellow maple overtones, and the dw touch on your kit than go for the PDPs.
i am saying this all over my own experience because i have played both the kits over live shows and also in few studios.
+Pema Dorjee Bhutia i prefer tone over punchiness, and have no hurry seting up the drums, i'll go with the PDP.
Yes this are paradiddles
This or a PDP concept?
Is this the maple shell hyperdrive?
Yes please tell us
ive always heard drummers do that roll that you do at 2:26 - 2:28. but my question is what roll is that? (paradiddles?)
esta es la superstar birch o maple ??
birch
Maple or birch?
too bad they discontinued these wonderfull drums :(
That's what makes them even better used kit values. Get 'em while they're hot!
14x6 snare?
14x5.5 if it's the stock hyperdrive snare
not bad......not bad at all
@CoryGamesHD
My set sounds good on its own...
Is this birch or maple?
Birch
It's the 600 dollar overheads and processing... you can get most sets to sound this good if you are a good soundman.
your drums sound fucking amazing. I have the same set and my drums sound nothing like that at all
Learn to tune them man
Why do i suck so bad at tuning? I have that kit and it sounds nothing like this haha
