Oh good lord as if my fear of even being near or touching a leech wasn't enough to give me anxiety, these things exist. Thanks nightmares... Anyhow, as per usual, keep up the quality content and I hope less leeches are coming out in the future as well.
The so called leeches jaws heavily resemble the appearence and action of inverted pharyngeal jaws. Based on my limited research, leeches lack this structure. However, one organism group that doesn't (among others [e.g.. fish, etc]) are polychaete, which are typically marine worms that utilize bristle structures for various activities. Some species its locomotion (fleshy), others its defense (fire worms) by forming hardened CaCO3 spikes at the bristle tips. They may also be used for offense as is the case in rag worms and bobbit worms, which invert their pharynx to expose pretty gnarly looking pharangeal jaws). If the "leeches" were actually polychaete, this would also explain their legs (bristles), which appear to feature a hardened hook structure.
I always thought looking that these guys look a lot like Bobbit worms, given the fact that bobbit worms grow to be quite long anyway and some species having similar looking jaws to the worms in metro I always assumed that was the case but I can also see given all the mutating stuff that was around in this universe that they very well could have evolved from worms, either way great video as always man
Goddamn, that description of the weird biofilm in the Worm lair is both much cooler AND creepier than mine, haha. I assumed they were tubifex worm colonies, like that "monster" from the Raleigh sewers that went semi-viral a while back.
Their jaws really don’t look like centipede jaws, like at all, given its shape and the way they are used it’s much more akin to s bobbit worm. Centipedes typically just have blunt modified legs which are still segmented and tipped with a venomous spike, if a centipede tried to bite like we see Metro leeches do it would do little damage whereas bobbit worms are basically bear traps of the sea. Trust me, I own a few centipedes, I’d know
Had a friend, who was new to the series, have a hard time during the whole dead city level. Somehow, after everything he has gone through, he had never knew how to patch his gasmask. Having a tough time at the communication center due to spiders, deciding to go 30 mins back. Losing his progress but getting through it soon, once he was at the city with the centipedes and leaches shooting at him, breaking his mask. He was getting frustrated and was just trying to find out how to help him out. After realizing that he said he never got the Martian trophy and kept dying because of a broken mask. I causally told him to wipe his face, and laughed when he heard artyom breathing steadily inhaling good ol' air
Wanna know a scarier hell spawn of nature? 10:50 The jaws that jet out, look more similar to a coral worm species called Bobbit Worms. In nature, they are ambush predators. But in aquariums with live coral, they are a parasitic infestation that could wipe out an entire tank.

True nightmare fuel, these things are. Thanks for covering em.
I panicked when I saw em, and shot all the leeches before even going near them, they terrified me and that is how I realized I have a fear of leeches.
@@ghuttsmckenzie4269 me too man, me too
I cant believe its taken me this ling to play this game, its so freaking good
Would I be alone in saying that it would be very neat to see this environment 20yrs later.
Excuse me I'll be right back I got to go throw up in the toilet
Okay I'm back but good video though
Wtf
1:44 is this a movie or something playing at points in the vid? also this was my favorite game of the year cant wait for the dlc
Bro, this part of the game was straight up nightmare fuel
They remind me of the bobbit worm. I'm not the brightest bulb I drive for a living but that's what those jaws looked like to me.
Ahh, the Worms. Maybe he won’t talk about feet this time-
_Oh_
I always thought looking that these guys look a lot like Bobbit worms, given the fact that bobbit worms grow to be quite long anyway and some species having similar looking jaws to the worms in metro I always assumed that was the case but I can also see given all the mutating stuff that was around in this universe that they very well could have evolved from worms, either way great video as always man
Good job brother! 👽😎
The metro serious helps me overcome my fears of seeing some big bugs...I'm still terrified of them tbh
Came for metro lore.. stayed for the feet
Never knew I had a phobia of giant spitting leeches and the walls they make
Goddamn, that description of the weird biofilm in the Worm lair is both much cooler AND creepier than mine, haha.
Trust me, I own a few centipedes, I’d know
Absolutely horrifying. Excellent. Thank you.
A Video about Watchers / Howlers would be nice
I blew on my screen, thinking it was dirty, but it was just the amazing game graphics.
the cancer growing on the walls reminds me of the corruption in dead space
Strong in Fallout 4: "NO GREEN STUFF HERE."
I LOVE YOUR CONTENT
I love the two colonels dlc, burning all those damn worms was amazing
Wanna know a scarier hell spawn of nature? 10:50 The jaws that jet out, look more similar to a coral worm species called Bobbit Worms. In nature, they are ambush predators. But in aquariums with live coral, they are a parasitic infestation that could wipe out an entire tank.
