I was fortunate to be a guest at a NABBA Mr Universe dinner event a bit over 20 years ago , with Steve Reeves, Reg Park, John Grimek, Bill Pearl and other classic bodybuilders given awards (may be leaving or adding wrong on these names). I shared a table with John Brown. I have met many famous bodybuilders but he was a friendly, intelligent and funny guy to have a conversation with - really a great person!

John was Melvin Anthony before Melvin was Marvelous Melvin!! I remember watching him on muscleSport USA or something that covered the Iron Man bodybuilding show in the early 90s. Might have been his last show but he had a torn pec at that time.

It was the 1991 Pro Ironman and the show was ESPN American Muscle. I was on that TV production crew and it was the first Pro bb show I ever attended!

@@RonHarrisMuscle Seems almost like yesterday doesn't it Ron!! I went down to the Ironman that Vince Taylor won in 92 I think Bertil Fox was in that one. It was a huge lineup. Cormier made his debut so maybe it was 93.

John brown was born in 1959 the same year as Lee Haney, same age. I am their age and i remember a poster of john brown in my local gym where i were training and i remember
John brown had the same as me but had a better physique than me. lol When he won his first M. Universe he was 22 years old and this year Haney just turn pro and in 1982 got third to Samir banout and Makkawi and after that in 1983 he won his first M.Olympia and after that the rest is a just a good story. When Johwn Brown was famous in Europe, Haney became famous in America.
