The first night we arrive in Malacca and we're off to get some of the famous Asam Pedas in this UNESCO WORLD Heritage city. We try to run away from the incoming singing blazing lights rickshaws and end into a very authentic Malaccan karaoke restaurant where locals show off their singing and dancing skills.

Gosh I miss Melaka. I’m Singaporean & I’ve family in Melaka. As a kid I’d spend my school holidays at my great grandmother’s kampung, climbing coconut trees, swimming in rivers, catching chickens, having campfires in my great grandmothers backyard, enjoying great food & just having a blast. Asam Pedas is just delicious, especially eaten together with a freshly baked baguette.
Dont eat the shell of the salted egg 😂 also dont eat salted egg by itself, combine it with some rice, fish and gravy .
Yeah, pinch a little just for the salty taste only😆

The rickshaw with the lights you can only find them in Malacca. They bring tourist around for short trips. Malacca is close to Singapore and wonderful place for a short trip.

you can take a boat just beside the jonker street at night, it's beatiful. And the famous drink in Melaka is coconut shake milk, and you can try nonya food along the jonker street and the delicious nonya desert... yumm yumm.. Nonya means when one of the paarent is chinese and another is malay, their children we call Nonya.. so the nonya food in Melaka is my favourite
My favourite one is Asam Pedas Ikan Pari (Stingray)

Anyway dude... the salted egg is meant to provide your palate with a salty taste. What else? Much like ordinary salt. The way to take them is just a slight pinch with every spoonful of rice and whatever else you prefer. Well... I hope there are many more Malaysian days for you and you can keep experimenting all kind of dishes. All the best.

The fish (stingray) has soft bone in the middle, use spoon to scrap the flesh out. Hopefully you did not eat the bone and flesh together that will be awful. Enjoy learning new things in Malaysia

I must commend u guys on ur choice to go with the local cuisine which also happens to be the cuisine of local nyonyas & Malays & Ibans in SARAWAK..way to go if u wish to understand the culture of a people (nationality)..no better way than through their food. When my mom was alive, we had assam pedas (made with the wild yellow round eggplant..called "Assam Terung") twice a week.

Asam pedas only famous in Johor and Melaka. If u want try something mindblowing go Penang and eat nasi kandar. There is alot delicious nasi kandar.
Clearly you havent taste a good asam pedas, imo they taste better than nasi kandar haha
@@hyuuganatsume2621 U eat fake nasi kandar that why. Real nasi kandar never put "nasi kandar" at their restaurant name in Penang. Btw im stay in Johor and i love asam pedas Johor. Never went to any restaurant that have signboard "nasi kandar" here. Yikes
