I saw them I think 1987 in Munich. It was Christmas Eve. We drove a couple of hundred miles. All restaurants were closed except WIENERWALD, the german / austrian version of kentucky fried chicken. We sat there, the whole restaurant was packed with homeless people who had chicken. Ah yes: the show was excellent! :)

I MISS BERLIN PUNK ROCK SHOWS. I was there in 1992 for nine months. The squatter shows were amazing. We have to make more clubs like the old Tacheles people. !!! we used to go down to Potsdam and they would have punk rock shows in this old horse stable ! ! it was amazing to see like Agnostic Front and Samiam and Yuppicide play there !!! wow... also the SO36 !!!

Oh my wasted youth. Saw these guys a couple of times in Austin and I think they had as much fun as we did listening to them, which made for a really great show. They would always always dive into the crowd. Great band. They blew everyone completely away because at the time, there was not really anything like them. You either loved them or couldn't deal with it lol.

It doesn't get much better than this. A good buddy of mine used to work the door at First Ave in Minneapolis and said when Nirvana came through he got to talk to Cobain pretty extensively. He said Kurt kept going on about how Scratch Acid was his favorite band. You can hear their influence on Bleach particularly.

Saw them in Austin, November 1986, in an ancient theatre with rows of seats that waved with a crazy ripple effect if you dared to lean on them. Like the unhinged stage antics of David Yow himself, they seemed unbolted from anything concrete or real. Needless to say no one was sitting. An ancient black and white film was projected, chaotically flooding the entire stage. It was beautiful and haunting, the visual equivalent of the music itself. Truly a rare feast for the senses.

Immediately bought the t-shirt as well xD Nirvana is my favorite band, but Scratch Acid is awesome too and I can really hear the influence their sound had on Kurt, especially on Fecal Matter & Bleach. I think that many of those hipstrolls that waste their time bashing KC were Nirvana loonies in denial now trying to seem cool, but without him they probably wouldn't even know these lovely punk records and would be listening some shitty boy band from their era. And if you're a old person trolling out coz sincerely don't like his music, grow up and get over the fact that the guy had great taste. Thanks to him many people around the globe are aware of this stuff and that's great. Music is there to be enjoyed and recognized, not elitized.

I totally understand how Nirvana came up with their sound for the 'the bleach' album, then they moved to Portland Oregon and picked up Dave Grohl as the new drummer and practiced like 4, 5 hours 5 days out the week, moved to L.A., recorded "Never mind" and then came bck to Seattle hot fckn shit. Less than 4 years later, all over. Makes me think would have been a good Shakespearish type story. Or is it just me?...

Scratch Acid - Scratch Acid (1984) [Full EP] 2235pm 1.3.23 most amazing drum intros to whichever song amazed you as a yoof or, more importantly, recently. discuss........ there certainly is a scratch acid song which has a jazz style drum riff... maybe it's on this record? anyhow; why's everyone afraid of the first album (bleach) as though it is some slur on the drummer who took over's status or memory? i genuinely like the first nirvana album, bleach... anyhow; can you name a decent drum intro...? or the red cap milk round reference. what's that all about?... when you think about it, hitmen would be best suited to doin' a milk round as they'd be able to get to their victims pretty much unannoyed...

I think the stuff by The Screamers was at least as far out there as this stuff, and Big Star's third album was also pretty strange for its time. Also stuff by the Stooges, and that goes back to like 1973? Every band is different, and I don't think that Scratch Acid was revolutionary- just multiple influences with a twist.

Let's face it we're all here b/c Kurt Cobain said in many interviews that he was a fan of these 1980's "Noise Rock/Heavy Alternative" bands like Scratch Acid, Big Black, Butthole Surfers, Sonic Youth, The U-Men, Flipper, Melvins, Skin Yard, Tad, Coffin Break, Killdozer, Fang, Jesus Lizard. Nirvana's Bleach album makes so much more sense now knowing Kurt's generational influence.
