I feel that when he says, " I actually..." It really expresses kipps' disbelief that he's actually considering believing in something that's non factual, but theoretical. Or it could be emphasising his desperation to rationalise this presence he's sensing that he resorts to a way other than logic to escape it to find some sort of comfort or understanding.

@@prenz. lol i didnt think you were serious😂😂, anyways i picked 3 or 4 points depending on what they asked, and explained it, so like you say that the writer uses personification here, to foreshadow this or that, reinforcing to the ultimate goal of the writer,
I would focus on lang first, like techniques and the meanings behind them, and then structure. Like talk about how the writer maybe increases the size of the paragraphs as he gets more emotional, and so on.
Dont write too much of course because you can just expand on 4 points max. Dont write on stupid basic points, try to focus on points that influence the big idea.

Actually, 'Whistle And I'll Come To You' is the real name given to the tenth chapter in the book, 'The Woman In Black'. Really great book, this is. After I read this extract, it encouraged me to read the whole book. There's also a great movie adaptation in 2012 for this starring Daniel Radcliffe as Arthur Kipps, and I highly recommend that you watch it. This video is really useful. It helped me a lot to understand the text. Good job! 👏
