T This Video is excellent! My Deep Respects to Sandy Denny. I regret that I did not know of her passing. What a lovely and talented young lady! Now I hear the sad news of Judy Dyble passing away. God Bless and R.I.P Sweet Lady. I was 19 when Si Tu Dois Partir was recorded and released by Fairport Convention. I am now 70 but still 19 really! At the time I had noticed an eye-catching Record Sleeve/Poster with *three sorto hippies/group members/chaps* on it but I did not know just who had recorded the song! A case of living in the late Sixties and just bowling along! I had heard it on the radio but always missed out on who had recorded the song! I vowed to track it down but usually I just forgot about it the next day! I guess that I never got a round 2it! Then the whole thing would repeat itself! Being a bit "Spaced Out" as they called it then! A DJ said it was on Genesis Hall and just what was that?!!! In 2005 I bought a PC and only a few years later it was bugging me so much that I did a Google Search that led me to You Tube. After discovering how to spell the title, a Dylan Song, Manfred Man etc I had found it at last! When I feel like it: Now I play it! This Morning it came into my head to type a few lyrics that I recalled into Google to find another song that turned out to be Bob Dylan's "Percy's Song" also recorded by Fairport Convention! I listened to Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie and Fairport Convention singing "Percy's Song!" This morning I also discovered a Fairport Convention Reunion You Tube Video performing the "Si Tu Dois Partir" song! Thank goodness: Life is to short to miss a great performance such as this! Some have a gripe against You Tube because of the royalties "Thang" but for me You Tube is a God Send or I would never have got to listen to such a lovely and pure performance! I will donate some Bread to "The Performing Rights Society" for the enjoyment that this recording in particular has given me! You must know that you all with Fairport Convention will never loose it! It is all to wonderful or is it "It's All To Beautiful!" I did not get to see Fairport Convention perform live then or go to "The Isle of White" and the like but I now feel like I have caught up man! The only thing that I really, really regret is that I did not just jump on a jet plane and go see Elvis in Vegas and I could have done! No worries: I had my share of riding Motorcycle Scrambles Machines in the "Best Times Ever" era! It is all very, very and I won't say Poignant, cus it is not sad at all but nicely emotional really! I must say that the Young Dutch Girl Singer has such a lovely pure voice and if anyone in Fairport Convention ever reads this: You are all such very, very special and talented people and I really, really enjoy your "Stuff" very, very, muchly! Now to "Google" to find out who "The Parents" are standing outside their garden on the Album Sleeve. Such a nice photo of the dress/standing of that era! If anyone out there has knowledge of these "Thangs" that have arisen from my letter/comment please do reply to enlighten me! My Best Regards and Rear Guards to you all and please, please do your very best to still look as happy, gotten off for a wee while and contented as those three "Chaps" that feature on the "Si Tu Dois Partir" Record Cover/Poster when you are all out on the "Razz" on a Friday Night!!! Its a Sixties Thang you know! Nice Masks, Visors and "Precautions" apply! Have a good time yahall! *three sorto hippies/group members/chaps* Who are they?! Rob Allen. Halmore Farm in the Berkeley Vale, South Gloucestershire. The West of England.
This version sounds too much like Rick Nelson's "Garden Party" for me. The best version I have found on You Tube is on ' Nuggets from the Liverpool Five ( Part 1)".
