I replaced my speedo cable a few years ago and it recently stopped working. I noticed the cable popped out of the speedometer. It's a poor design to have the plastic end of the cable snap into the plastic speedometer. It should have been threaded similar to where it connects to the wheel. I think the plastic end of the cable is losing it spring action and will fall out again after lots of turning.

Yes exactly. I think maybe a longer cable would also help so the bend the cable takes near the wheel end could be more gradual. Its a shame, but if it goes again ill use a gps speedo.

Did the speedo work OK on the test ride.
If there is room it might be worth keeping the old horn wired in to work as well. Best to clean up the contacts and horn body itself to remove loose corrosion. Might sound better with the 2 tones going at once : )

      Yes speedo worked fine.
I don't have old horn thats in the bin. But i did clean it before purchasing new one as I do like to save money.
In fact once new horn was on I did need to use it in an emergency situation to blast an Astra driver who tried to pull out in front of me. So money well spent I think!
