- All Wally Mellish, an ex-convict in 1960s Australia, wants to do is live a quiet life with his girlfriend Beryl. Unfortunately when two police officers come around to disturb this, a misunderstanding quickly becomes out of control, resulting Wally, Beryl and her child being trapped in their house, surrounded by armed police under the impression that Wally is holding everyone hostage. Events quickly spiral into a media circus as, through the siege, Wally - inadvertently - manages to become a symbol for the anti-war movement. Written by Scott Nisbet

I love this movie! Finally found a DVD copy on Amazon (and it's got to be a straight VHS rip). We took it to a Christmas party on the 24th of December and watched it with Christmas dinner - everyone loved it! Christmas 2019.
This is one of my greatest movies of all time Colin friels is up there as one of my favorite actors along with Bryan Brown,and Jack Nicholson.

this car was our club members car it was parted out due to severe rust problems
it also had a holden 3 spd box in it..
but he is doing up another just like this car mr reliable will be back on the road again
as a club car western sydney area.
Well at least that answer my question about the gear change. Living in the UK, I only knew the column change variant.
I bet Wally was pleased to have the Holden GB though, so he could his hand in between Beryl's legs. haha
I used to have this on DVD.... don't know where it is now :(
