    This is great stuff, I especially love the conclusion of focusing on telling a story with your city. For a community of budding urban designers, the C:S player base all too little discusses the actual process of urban development I think, so I'm really happy to see this initiative!

      Thank you very much! I am very happy to get feedback from such experienced content creators such as yourself!
      I completely agree with you, I think this kind of topic is worth talking about. Even if I just help someone scratch the surface of something beyond the game itself, I will consider it a success.
      Thanks once again and I hope you like what I have to show in the future!
      Cheers!

    As a planner and fan of the game, I’m really excited to see how your channel develops moving forward. I liked how this video was focused on informing people about urban form and what it says about a city. I’d like to see more game play in the future, but definitely do not lose this educational aspect too!

      Thank you! Besides these more theoretical "Decoding cities" series (I have a couple of episodes in the works already), I'm working on a way to connect that educational aspect and more in-game stuff. I'm inclined to do a separate series about one city, build it in the game and tell it's urban history through the game. It will take a while, but I think that's the way I want to take this channel. I hope you like it as well!

    Even though I'm very much interested in your own implementation of story narrative in the Zagreb series, I'm interested in learning more from you about urban concepts with decoding cities series.
    Funny thing is that mr. Silvarret posted a comment here as I really learned a lot from his series on Dutch city in CS! That's also why my favorite CS storyteller was Freshpopcorn back in the day as he had a story for each scene combined with talent and skill.

      Well, I plan to make one more Zagreb episode to round up the first part of the Story, and then get back to Decoding Cities for a couple of episodes :)

    If you are not in a lockdown zone or seriously impacted personally by COVID, a great video idea would be the relationship over the centuries between cities/urbanization and pandemics.

    Great video. The urban form is what i like about Skylines the most. How the city appears from above. I also had a good shot at building some of central Paris, which was a lot of fun to build, though i mostly focus on U.S cities.

    • @playcuriously2314
      @playcuriously2314  4 года назад

      Yes, I like to study urban form very much as well! However, we have to be careful not to get "seduced" by it too much - a beautiful urban form doesn't necessarily mean a good city. In the next episode, we'll take a look at the human scale and how we perceive cities from our point of view.

    • @Justyburger
      @Justyburger 4 года назад +1

      @@playcuriously2314 It depends what you mean by "good". I've been studying cities quite a long time myself. You probably mean livable, which is atributed to many factors. A beautiful form is certainly one of them.
      A beautful city will have usually had a zenith. A time of glory, but is in economic stagnation today. In that situation, the form and architecture is still intact, but the general conditions of life, have changed.

    Great video! You have excellent oratory and storytelling skills, and your narration reminds me of Roman Mars' 99% Invisible, one of the most popular podcasts on the internet and also incidentally a podcast focusing on design.
    I also hope you will include Asian and African cities in your videos. Those regions are expected to see a massive urban shift in their demographics, and yet are rarely talked about in urban planning discussions online.
    Best of luck for your channel!

    • @playcuriously2314
      @playcuriously2314  4 года назад +1

      Hey, thank you for your comment!
      About Asian and African cities - I am quite aware that they are underrepresented. I tried to put some of them in this video, but the problem is that I have limited knowledge about these cities, and I don't want to talk about things I don't know enough about.
      However, I am very motivated to expand my knowledge in that area, and I will definitely look to learn new stuff and try to show a bit more of them as well. If you have some ideas and quality sources, I'd be happy to do a little research!
      Cheers!
