If you didn't play the Yakuza 0 on the Daigo's side quest, then you missed it, he was a spoil loud mouth brat, trying to be high and mighty as hell, Kiryu went to the Batting Centre and sees Daigo and his boys, played on UFO Catcher but his attitude is serious, he said "Don't tell me what to do", that's the sign of worse behaviour, then they went to the Pink street bar (Don't know why, kids these days), after a bad argument, Daigo took off and bumped by the mask guys, they took him to the some hidden area so no witnesses should know and they beating him up until Kiryu showed up, he took a fight on them and won, as it turns out revealing its the boys, the same ones in the beginning, as soon as Daigo's behaviour have gone too far, Kiryu stops him talking and teaching his manners, Kiryu said "You want to be a spoiled rich kid who gets his way by throwing around his father's name, Fine, be my guest. But torturing a defeated foe from a position of safety? That's not right. Its beneath man." That's a life lesson to Daigo

For me kiwami 2 is the best game from yakuza series(number 2 is kiwami 1, like a dragon, and 0. Number 3 maybe gaiden and yakuza 4) From the story, side quest, cut scene, new levelling system from yakuza 0 and kiwami, even we got the best heroine ever. Hope you enjoying this game

God I love Kiwami 2... It's the substories, man. They added so many new ones. There's like one really good substory from the original Yakuza 2 that didn't make it in this remake, but all their new ones make up for it in spades. And seeing Bae lose her mind over 'em is just fun to see. Glad you're still enjoying the series!

Yakuza 1 was a PS2 game right? So Yakuza 2 was a PS3? And Kiwami are remasters released within the last 10 years? Yakuza 2 seems more refined, cleaner. I feel like something is missing though. The upgrade wheel with all the styles was iconic. Streamlining everything is very helpful, but it's kind of sterile. Even the town seems a little off. Like the atmosphere and ambience took a hit. It still looks good, maybe barely noticeable even, not quite uncanny, but kind of...gamey? Immersion breaking? Lacking flavor? The game seems easier at this point as well. I think Bae only had to go to inventory to pop health pots twice against Gota. Kiryu seems practically indestructible otherwise. The gauntlet event fleeing Omi and trying to rescue the Chairman, it lacked the oomph from previous ones like running from the funeral in Kiwani 1, let alone the ones in Zero. The villains seem less evil. Even in sidequests they're more silly than anything. Nothing like infiltrating a cult and beating up it's scummy leader so far.
Yakuza 1 and 2 were both originally PS 2 games. Kiwami 2 was made during the stages of that god awful Dragon Engine the developers desperately wanted to make work at the time so naturally its gonna feel....different compared to Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 1.
Like the other reply says, the shift in engines from Zero/Kiwami to Kiwami 2 is the main reason behind most of those things. Kiwami 2's presentation is also a bit inconsistent, same as Kiwami, due to the lower budget the remakes had. The other Dragon Engine games' presentation definitely comes better together as a whole The Dragon Engine combat is terrible in all the first games that used it (6, Kiwami 2, Judgment). So don't expect too much from the combat in those (Like a Dragon has equally terrible combat, just for very different reasons). Lost Judgment steers the combat back in a positive direction, but it still hasn't gotten back to the point it was in 4/5/Zero/Kiwami IMO
Well we finally made it to Bae playing the second game and right off man, the story is way better than how it was in game one. Everything just feels more concised quick but more to the point. Not to mention the build up to the main villain is really well handled and the rivalry between Ryuji and Kiryu is outstanding. Not to mention it's where we meet Kaoru and Bae is IMMEDIATELY in love lol. But I don't blame her because she is just fantastic and a great female character for this game. And in typical yakuza fashion Bae decides to do a whole bunch of random stuff that isn't the main plot, The ragdoll physics are very funny to see a lot of the time and what I'm gonna stick from this entire play through for now: Bae trying to find tissues for a musician Then getting annoyed by a random dude all to get the tissues and when She Finally gets the tissues She wants to unlock a certain heat action just to hit someone Over the head with a guitar lol. Regardless great job with this first part and I can't wait to see you play More of this Amazing sequal there's a reason people love 2 before 0 came out!

Kiwami 2's presentation is also a bit inconsistent, same as Kiwami, due to the lower budget the remakes had. The other Dragon Engine games' presentation definitely comes better together as a whole
The Dragon Engine combat is terrible in all the first games that used it (6, Kiwami 2, Judgment). So don't expect too much from the combat in those (Like a Dragon has equally terrible combat, just for very different reasons). Lost Judgment steers the combat back in a positive direction, but it still hasn't gotten back to the point it was in 4/5/Zero/Kiwami IMO

Well we finally made it to Bae playing the second game and right off man, the story is way better than how it was in game one. Everything just feels more concised quick but more to the point. Not to mention the build up to the main villain is really well handled and the rivalry between Ryuji and Kiryu is outstanding. Not to mention it's where we meet Kaoru and Bae is IMMEDIATELY in love lol. But I don't blame her because she is just fantastic and a great female character for this game. And in typical yakuza fashion Bae decides to do a whole bunch of random stuff that isn't the main plot, The ragdoll physics are very funny to see a lot of the time and what I'm gonna stick from this entire play through for now: Bae trying to find tissues for a musician Then getting annoyed by a random dude all to get the tissues and when She Finally gets the tissues She wants to unlock a certain heat action just to hit someone Over the head with a guitar lol. Regardless great job with this first part and I can't wait to see you play More of this Amazing sequal there's a reason people love 2 before 0 came out!
