    Book of Mormon [ALMA 30-31] Insights
    “The Virtue of the Word of God”
    July 15 - July 21 2024
    WEEK 29: SUMMARY
    =================
    Lesson Summary:
    Korihor’s life is only mentioned in one chapter of the Book of Mormon but his legacy of anti-Christ teachings will impact generations. This week, we’ll see the Lord’s efforts to bring him back to truth before it’s too late. He’ll send him Alma to try to open his eyes to the evidence of God that is already around him. Alma will also be sent to teach the apostate Zoramites. They had separated from the Church and concocted their own version of the gospel. Alma and his fellow missionaries sense the risks and brace for the weeks ahead by praying for the divine, enabling power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ to bring them comfort, strength, and peace.
    Questions to Consider:
    Alma 30:59-60 | Where do you see selfishness in Korihor’s teaching? Where do you see it in the Zoramites prayer? What is the antidote to selfishness? Is it represented in these chapters?
    Alma 31:5 | Do you think power is limited to righteous words? Are words planted by the adversary equally impactful on the mind? What does Elder Rasband’s “Words Matter” talk add to this discussion?
    Alma 31:30-38 | What does Alma pray for instead of healing from his affliction/infirmity? What does he receive?

      Please the church is not true, ironic how you talk of the use of pins to help you stay firm and steadfast...Korihor was right, yet even he was a figment of Smith's imagination.

      @@MadiHunt-pq3rs thanks for your opinion. I disagree.

      @@maddiethomas5892 Which is your right. Had I not experienced being a member for over a decade, I would make no comment. Knowing how important missionary work is, having served a mission, I feel obliged to say this. The aspect of family, community and goodwill only last until someone objects. A missionary church is obliged to disagree with apostates, yet this apostate has a very keen awareness of my obligations to my fellow humans. Life is too short to be held prisoner by the LDS church. Thankfully I am far happier than ever in my life. I wish you well

      @@MadiHunt-pq3rs I'm glad you are happy. As for me, I find my happiness in my close relationships with my friends and family in the church. Not all of my family is in this church. I, as well as 2 of my sisters, are adopted. I have a catholic sister, an Anglican sister, a pagan sister and a Baptist brother... as well as a couple of foster siblings who don't go to church. I absolutely understand the need for everyone to find they're church (or not). I am perfectly happy in the lds church. I believe it is the right church for me. Thanks, again!
