The original 12 minute version of The Veldt, complete with the long awaited "tribal drum" intro. This is the first RUclips upload of this track, enjoy!
This track is from the Veldt EP, a four-track compilation by deadmau5. The EP released on the 24th of June 2012, but debuted early on The Rolling Stones website: www.rollingston...
holy shit i've never heard the ep version. drums at the start are magical
one year ago the doctors said my grandpa wouldnt make it for another week, but hes made it untill today and has been living in this nursing place for a long time now and as he was holding my and my grandmother hand he finally said 'i cant do it anymore'. i know hes not gonna live to see 2 more days. i didnt cry when i was there at all but when i turned this song on i cried from beginning to end. im not trying to be an attentionwhore i just wanna let you know the power this song has, beautifull.
God bless you all man, my dad passed away a week ago, I hope you are all at peace 11 years later
This is a masterpiece.
This is the best song I have ever heard
Kelvin Morris Try Haendel !
Is that a song?
Dont leave it, dont leave it
I was working over the holiday at a electronics's store and heard the drum beats from across the store. It'd been a shitty day, but I couldn't help but listen to the drums and wonder where they came from (and why I suddenly felt so good). And then I heard the beat and I recognized the song, and it was an enormous pick-me-up. So, thanks deadmau5! You got me through one of the worst days of the holiday season!
Yo
hope you're doing well these days!
i wake up to this song as my alarm everyday
i think it cured my depression. in the AM at least
Morning depression is too fucking relatable.
Its nice. I like it when the bass comes in a little more. Wonder if he ment this to be a ray Bradbury reference or not?
Trent Crull He did. He read the veldt story in the Illustrated Man- and Chris James, the then-unheard of singer, caught on and wrote the vocals as such. Props and +1 for knowing Ray Bradbury.
For the win George Condit
No way bro not even joking ive used this as my alarm for months
this always calms me down
This is not just music. This is vision, sight, smell all induced by sound. It is truly the most inspiring track to ever embrace the world, and Joel should be proud as fuck. What's more is that it more than does the story justice. If you haven't read The Veldt by Ray Bradbury, go do so now, and play this song as you start reading. Changed my life.
10 years later, I say well f'ing said!! How is your life 10 years later?
@@rhymetimeuk Life’s a lot more complicated these days, but I’m making my own music now - taking inspiration from the mau5 along with many other eclectic tastes, which has been a true blessing. Music is a truly magical thing, the way it can transport the mind to other worlds, different times in our lives, and conjure up deep feelings. That hasn’t changed one bit, even though the world certainly has

from a listener's point of view, this track is simply amazing. from someone who is an aspiring producer, its insane to realize how good deadmau5 is a layering and producing his tracks, every time i listen to it, i always hear something new that adds to the track. i honestly dont know why he gets so much hate sometimes, he deserves all the credit and respect
I saw a video of his production room, and he has two WALLS of analog synthesizers to die for!
I fucking love the drums at the beginning
+zRiddick well said. this version is 100x better than radio version :)
+zRiddick Me too Maximum Agree....!!!!!
ugh me tooo
Deadmau5 imo is one of the few mainstream artists with a really unique and original sound. Props and things.
Proud to be Canadian and living close to this amazing artist.
patriotism, even in idm, is a terrible ideology.
Impressive. Who else in today's music could take such a macabre story and turn it into something of such beauty. Deadmau5, it's pure genius.
Enough bickering and fighting, let's just take a minute to thank Joel for the amazing production that is this song, and the movement he has made for the EDM community.
This version brings back so many memories - both good and bad - that are long, long gone. This will forever be a banger in my mind.
deadmau5 is a person who cares so much about his fans he spends the most and tries his hardest to stream as much as possible, answer as many questions on twitter, fb, etc and hes different from everyone else in the edm scene when it comes to personality. he is a geeky gamer who knows exactly what hes doing when it comes to edm and he doesnt care what anyone thinks of him and hes not scared to tell somebody what he thinks of them.
hes not a d-bag hes just being himself..
I have this on a CD and listen to it on my hour drive to work at 3 a.m. going from the country to the downtown city. The lights, the no other cars, the music the city in the distance...all fits so well together. I love this song, Deadmau5 only gets better.
a deadmau5 classic that will never get old.
This is seriously a masterpiece
Them drums at the beginning. I can see it. Gets my adrenaline going. I love feeling this song 6:30
Listening to this at 2 - 5 a.m. and being in that nice sedated, sleepy state = Bliss
Extremely relaxing, i love it
This is a master piece of the trance
it's like a story but with music instead of narrators and actors. AMAZING!
The world that the children made....wow, this song has it all, great subway beats with atmospheric and up lifting tinkerings (for lack of a better fucking expression) and a beautiful rift, and the vocals (sounds like BT) are such a perfect match. The driving force of this song is the piano and base mixture, but you gotta love the synth, it gives it a childish feeling. absolutely amazing!
i feel like im floating through space... planets smiling at me and I smiling back while travelling deeper and deeper through the stars......
those drums in the beginning are just perfect :D
I cried when deadmau5 played this live. No regrets, it's a beautiful song. ♥
there is something so magical about the way joel does these long, slow build-ups that keep you wanting more as they go along. same with the original mix of strobe. totally came back to this song after years of not hearing it and it's still just as fantastic. godspeed deadmau5.
i love deadmau5 because of his originality and he doesnt give a shit about anyones opinions except for his own and his loyal fans (like me). you can hear the complexity of his tracks in the beats. its amazing how much time he spends perfecting them and making them sound perfect. he doesnt care about out-selling other artists, all he cares about is doing his own thing the way he wants to do it and its always amazing.
this is full version, amazing track. just fucking great
high Quality Producing..... so epic work from joel....
i can feel the mellow filling my body as this song goes on.
fucking beautiful!!
its actually NOT haha
JgHaverty wtf are u kiddig me
@@JgHavertyit is😎
@lucastea9533 i was being sarcastic mate lol. This is one of his greatest songs haha
amazing amazing amazing amazing. this song is an emotional escape during tough times
I could sleep to this.
This is my new favorite song by anyone, ever. I have the short story open in another tab, and I've been playing this on repeat. My mind is more open than it's ever been.
I haven't been able to leave this song for the past couple months. Ahhh!
It's heartwarming to know that all you can do in response is spam unoriginal, mindless insults in response.
This is just music, in a pure form + static video, there is no real vision, no sight involved and no computer can "induce smell by sound" this is more than just a song though. It feels deep.
My baby girl was just born. This is the track I' ve been listening to all along, and it sounds so much better now that Rio is in my life. Thanks a million Deadmau5! You Sir fucking rock!
How is she now? :P
This was, is and always will be the real "The Veldt" for me
My brains shutsof for approx 11 minutes and 33 secounds when listening to this. Deadmau5 is Beethoven of electronic music, there is no question about it. He will be remembered as a true musician, not a pop artist, that is the difference.
SIMPLY GREAT!!!....Deadmau5, you are a GENIUS....good luck!! I trust in you...
I remember reading The Veldt ( a short story) last year in my language arts class and then listening to this song. I thought it was so cool. :)
Deadmau5 is a good artist. It helps me get inspired to wirte poetry again.
DEADMAU5 at Las Vegas!!!
That's pure awesomeness
You've been listening since you were 11? Congratulations. You must be really proud of having a year's experience worth of listening to electronica :p
The Intro is So amazing
that break at 7min....... no word.....
youtube needs a love react for stuff like this
. And in one last blaze of glory before the turn of the seasons, the sun so true and the sky so blue shine down and project themselves on any surface that will allow their reflection...
This is the best version.
I respect deadmau5 for his production skills, his music he makes, how he speaks his mind and doesn't care what people think, and most of his opinions. Wearing Skrillex's phone number to the grammies was hilarious. If he did that to me, i'd get him back because it's all fun in games.
He's not one of the least respected electronic artists to date either. Skrillex probably is, and that's only because lots of people don't like his music, but Skrillex is the nicest guy ever. People are just dumb.
This song is amazing
Simply GENIUS!!!!
He is a fucking god.
i love the drum break down in the beginning.
I wish more people like you existed.
OMG PERFECT. I was looking for this version everywhere.
(6:00-7:00) Smells like U2 to me "where the streets have no name", good taste, genius! Those with a little ear will catch!
Listening to this angelic intro till this day. What an into
So far I've listened to this song countless timeds and I'm not the least tired of it! Personal favorite. Love deadmau5 and music. And personal LIKE on the drum intro!
about time i was looking for this song since a while back ago.
I just can't get tired of this song, purely genious.
Finally! been looking everywhere for this!
I've been listening to Electronic music since I was 10.........When I say this stuff rocks, it really need not. It just means that I enjoy it. And looking at the like/dislike bar, I think many people agree with me on it.
have a whatever day.
i wake up to this every day
and still... it's been two weeks.. and I'm back here again!
so beautiful
I simply cannot describe how good this song makes me feel. Really amazing
Music like this makes me glad to be alive.
Well technically the vocalist put his own emotions in. Deadmau5 just made the beats. However, he did notice how much Chris James (the vocalist) resembled the short story in so many ways.
Thank goodness there is an extended mix of this! Can't get enough of it when I heard it at work, on the radio. 3 minutes is far too short IMO.
I was reading all of your guys comments while listening to the song. It was pretty epic, not going to lie :)
Yes, I did hear the song as I read the story, and the song seemed to blend in!
i realized this was about the book a while ago, my first reaction gave me the chills
If you truly love an artist's work, and you feel like you need to give something back, please consider buying his/hers songs. That won't just support the artist, but also yourself, because that artist get more time to make music. Everyone should receive some sort of payment for hard work. This includes all those many hours and days, artists need to spend behind music recorders and advanced music software, just to create 3-5 minutes of enjoyment.
I have never heard this song with the drum intro before... where have I been??? I love this!
I bet deadma5 would just be delighted looking at these comments of people arguing over stupid crap instead of people actually commenting about his music. Keep it up, guys. :)
this .. this is why i love deadmau5 music ..
The intro is amazing
Anybody else realize how awesome Deadmau5 is for playing Final Fantasy 6 and realizing that this song is his reference to that? :)
Not going to get upset about a period comment from someone named "tehxfiles" but to put it shortly I had a moment of rage because I really enjoy the intro and the conversation got resolved.
idk about you, but I've MISSED this kind of Deadmau5
The best trance track I have heard in years.
This is absolute beauty, my goodness. A top notch tune, thank you Mr Zimmerman.
Thank you Nicholasbduckman! FINALLYY!!! I've been patiently waiting and searching for this version since its release!
It's not even $5 on iTunes right now so it's really worth it.
unreal deadmau5! best version ive heard of this seen him live 3 times many more amazing!!
Does it really make a difference between Deadmau5 and deadmau5 ? Everyone watching this video obviously know that the song has been written and produced by Joel Zimmerman and the vocals have been sung by Chris James so.. stop hatin' and enjoy this masterpiece of electronic music
Just amazing how he can twist the genres like this.
This song brought me out of a very long and deep state of depression so thanks deadmau5 you saved me :)
Incredible.
This version is so awesome.
You can feel the music.
The extended version is just heaven =)
love the jungle intro, finnally found it
This is definitely more than a just a song.
