This was a very simple experiment, and it was hastily done to see if the AI's quality had improved over the past year, when I previously played with it. I was surprised to see how it performed. Of course, it was a childishly simple scenario, and I made no serious effort against it here. This was actually the second attempt at a game. The first try failed because I did not set up the audio properly on OBS, so this was the second take. I was surprised to see it knew some basics, and generally performed with basic competence. It did not overextend, it kept a reserve, it knew what it meant to refuse a flank, and it supported its movements. Heck, humans I know don't even do this. In a few years. we may find AI to be quite breathtaking. What is even more remarkable, is ChatGPT is a language model, nothing more, and it is playing decently in spite of its inherent nature. Imagine if you will and AI designed for war...
I was actually just thinking about playing kriegsspiel (or any tabletop war game in general) with chatGPT, and then I saw this video in my recommended section.
Even the AI desires counterbattery fire!

I'd like to see this with Chat GPT-4 honestly and its multimodal capabilities
This was done with ChatGPT 4o.
It plays better than me.
Needs more mini figs
Game of chances. Next time you roll better.
