Great system, like that you want to minimise complexity for umpire, yet keep rules to maintain it fair. I would like to hear about how you deal with movement and order resolution: do you use an "initiative" or some other rule to decide which units move first? Do the move the whole way and that's it, or do you move them bit by but like in contemporary?

When I played my homemade kreigsspiel battle of lingayen bay the red and the blue keeps on going back and out of san Carlos some of my units are in baguio because of its strategic location it is like "extra pieces" I made a remake only some rules are made by me like when climbing a tall mountain or plateau they shall count 10 seconds every it is based on how tall the mountain is 10 for short 20 for medium 30 for tall

Is there been any effort to adapt the system to account for modern C5ISR capabilities?

These tactical problems are fun. I hope you continue the series.

My issue with this scenario is while you stated Blue wasn't in contact with friendly brigades you didn't say one friendly brigades was so nearby. If I'd known that then risking option 2 would have had a lot more appeal. Instead I chose option 1. If alone Blue needs to get into battle formation to deal with a possibly nearby and stronger enemy force.

How capable are my company commanders? I don’t know this exact battle, but both the USA and CSA were experienced at this point with detaching skirmishers and having them act independently. If it was option, I’d detach skirmishers and have them screen my movements at 2 while the main force forms up behind them. As long as I don’t see cavalry retreating from the engagement I should be safe if the cavalry ran into a larger force due to the amount of firepower cab units had at this point in the war.
