I'm VERY busy at the moment so don't have time to watch now BUT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!! Up to the eyeballs in pop/rock past and present rebellious temperamental and I still loved Carols From Kings And of course I still do!!! 😊😊😊
@@ArchiveofRecordedChurchMusic I should explain that when I said I was up to the eyeballs in pop/rock, I was describing myself as I was in 1982/83 I was not a nice person AT ALL Am I now? Not so sure But I love Carols from Kings!!!
I've seen it all; certainly brought back memories. Didn't Stephen Cleobury look young!! Needless to say, thanks for uploading. A very happy Christmas to you all. David
It follows the order of the 9LC radio service much more closely than nowadays. Also I don't think they have an ante-chapel congregation for filming these days, which affects the acoustic considerably.
Wonderful to see this. So much more of a proper service than we see nowadays. Thank you for this. Did any choir members on this broadcast go on to bigger things?
Lovely. A reminder of the dignity and tradition of times past, observed nowadays only in the breach.
Cleobury’s new descant on Once In Royal ….I’ve always loved that one best.
Think that’s Gerald Finley soloing in Howells’ ‘A spotless rose’ from 23:47
It's definitely Gerald Finley!
Probably one of the best renditions of Spotless Rose from King's.
Awesome and Classic ❤
I've always wanted to see this! Would be great to see some of Sir David Willcocks appearances on Carols from King's.
This whole concert has a beautiful classic Christmas vibe. Why don’t they do it like this anymore it’s perfect and classy
It's not a concert but a divine service offering to God.
We still do this every year from first advent to Christmas night, please feel welcome to join us.
thanks you for this upload from Germany 👍

It will remain on the RUclips channel so you can watch when you have time.

Thank you so much.

From the first few minutes, looks like the BBC tried to copy the look of Ord's 1954 Service as much as possible.

Gerald Finley, Chris Purves and a few others!
Sir Stephen’s first year I think…..
1982 - is that David Briggs playing the Organ?
End credits confirm it - yes
Fantastic. Such a well drilled choir. Excellent speakers, too. Do you have the Carols from King's from December 1991?
We only have a poor quality copy of the first 30 mins, so if anyone has this 1991 broadcast, please get in touch!
This archive from 1982 is incredible!! Do you have any similar old ones like this? Thank you for your response. Regards. Maurice
Yes, we have a large collection of 'Carols from King's' in the Archive.
@ArchiveofRecordedChurchMusic
