I made up a emergency kit using the Stanley Cook Kit to keep in my vehicle.
Using a Condor H20 pouch. Starting at the bottom of the of the pouch there is a Oilcamp Stainless Steel Space Saver Cup. Then the Stanley Adventure Cook Camp System which fits ( sits ) inside the cup. The tapered sides of the Stanley Camp Cook kit fits inside the cup like it was made for it. Along the outside of the Stanley is a long handled Titanium spoon. Inside the Stanley is the Gen2 Folding Firebox Nano Ultralight Backpacking 3" Stove. On top of the Stanley is a Trangia Alcohol burner so I can cook with either alcohol or wood. The outside pocket of the Condor has a plastic ( Flask shaped ) 8 oz bottle which has the Denatured Alcohol for the Trangia. Next to it is a fero rod for lighting the burner or starting a fire. Folded next to the fero rod is a bandana which can be used if the handles of either pot gets to hot for a bare hand to touch. A few months later I added two canteen pouches one on each side of the Condor H20 pouch along with a updated wide strap for carrying. One pouch has a Nalgene canteen in it and the other pouch has a couple dehydrated meals. Thanks to using a wood fire the Stanley has a nice blacken bottom and sides which I think helps it to heat up quicker.

I like it! Perfect for a 5C survival kit! Container, side pocket for cordage, side pocket for an additional cutting tool (like a folding saw and small knife) front pocket for combustion, and you can strap a poncho or tarp to the bottom for your cover element. I'll be getting one for sure.

I have one and love it. Great piece of kit. The only weak point is the non-padded shoulder sling. I could feel it after hiking a moderate distance with light clothing. I substituted a padded shoulder sling from Kifaru and it works great. The 2nd gen tool roll is real nice too.

Love the look of this kit. I have many regrets about having paid for The Uncharted Supply Company’s Seventy2. Too big; Doesn’t fit my iphone plus in the hip pocket, like advertised; some of the gear is cheaply made... This canteen kit looks the ideal size to be carried regularly.

Great looking kit! Kind of expensive but interesting. For my money I'll probably stick with a Maxpedition or Self Reliance Outfitters bottle bags and steel water bottles, but that looks like it would carry a bit better.

Beautiful well designed kit by a US Company. I actually went to look at getting one. I just can't see paying $100 for this. I agree its an awesome piece of kit but I just can't pay that much for it. Great review though on a great bag. They just need to bring the price down. Thank you for showing it to us. All the best, Dawn

Great minds think alike I bought the original Pathfinder water bottle Molle pouch and then he came out with the larger one and I got one of those and I hooked them together and it got pretty much the same kit. Use the larger one for shelter and tools. have all 10 C's and then some in there

I agreed. . $100 way to much !! I took simple military canteen cover for $15 in surplus store, sowed on pockets and strips , and I get the same system for about $20-25 including original cost of canteen cover + about 2 hours of work. !!

I saw Alan Kay reviewed this bag as well. I'm waiting for mine to arrive. I looked at using a maxpedition canteen carrier (m5 I think), plus a shoulder strap and pad. By the time you're done piecing everything together you may save a little cash, but you don't have nearly the same amount of storage or versatility (as far as I can see...).

    • @ThePreparedWanderer
      @ThePreparedWanderer  7 лет назад +1

Yeah, you're one of the two guys that talked me into getting this system; you and the Bearded Burton. Well, thank you, because I love it! I also added every accessory to it that Centerline Systems offered: the Gear Roll, the Saw-Blade Holster, the extra long shoulder-strap with additional padding, plus a Maxpedition Janus Pack & Bushcraft Black fixed blade knife. One "slight" problem now, though . . . it's kind of heavy. :-(

As a former 0311 USMC, Im dumbfounded watching ppl carrying heavy gears full loads with weight of a damn fridge lol. I’ve done plenty humping in my life to know that if you are hiking, always do it as light as possible. Only take gears you need and trash and peel every little crap you don’t need down to plastic wrappings to lighten your loads. Minimal is the way to go minus water and dried food or MRE. I went from using Alice pack which I love to taking what you need like on this video. I haven’t ditched Alice pack but if I’m going for a short hiking, it stays and just stuff only things I need like this n a gun.

I got mine and the other pieces, about 7 years ago. They do not make any of the system anymore. i just hoped you might have a source. Thank you for the quick reply. great video and review. That jacket was issued with 2 different liners and a insulated pair of pants all made by Patagonia, if the inner tag is still in side. There was no other Patagonia labeling on any of that clothing. I am looking for a outer layer like the jacket but in the form pants. Not sure it exists, but would like it if it does. Your jacket looks much better then mine, it is gear i would not part with.

Bic disposable lighters are typically the cheapest on the market. They are made mostly of plastic, filled with butane fuel (holding an average of 4.9 grams), and offered in a variety of colors and designs

They're not made in bulk, and you can have custom orders. The labor adds to the cost. I've got a Multicam set up and it's good gear to intentionally limit yourself to a few items you can't carry in your pockets like a head lamp, snack bar, power bank, or something.

More like 110.00 if Mexican lucky. Perhaps on top of 150.00 for a HC/Keith? (yes I just got a HC Ti thang)
What's the point? One still has to undo something to take a drink, yet the cap is still exposed to dirt bugs 'n elements sans a hooded flap.
So I missed the part of a stove, or wire grill parts? ya said boil water no? ~ eep! looky those pouches not properly covered looking like a lip of some poor soul who had a stroke..should be draws on the pouches for such price, or more than a lean two flap.
    meh ~ go walk trails.
ima not picking on this old vid, nor you PW, but I've now seen so many vids of canteen kit bags loaded as some bugout bag survival thang.
I opted the the helikon essential kitbag. But I won't over think a six hour bag/canteen holder loaded with toys. Whistle and no compass?..flare gun in a canteen/lures tackle box, lets do that?...24 hrs, stove should fit in or it clip to no?
Ferro rod goes where? Why not get tough to the ounces weight with a real rescue carabiner? (guess iyam picking on ya a bit, but do sass me back. I don't know chit tbh)
No saw. even though nun speak of use/carry 15" geared loppers light as frozen fingers spun off a road.
What do you wear on your "on hips" belt? No using pants loops, you may drown.
Fancy dan flashlight? One only needs 13-17 lumens. Dunno of LED's so low these days.
Thanks for the close ups/stuffed use PW. I wanted to like/justify the Mother.
I'll see how I do with my Helikon Es/HC as "gone fishin' " clip on canteen to an old gifted LLBean back pack does.
~ some pull a rope, some wrap half at hips and walk. I should have delivered milk via rickshaw 'n kilt it.
