@Expo Scotland Looool “white powder” it’s a real problem in London, Green lanes AKA home of the Turks gotta love it😂😂. On a real from everything I’ve seen / heard genuinely reckon Ange can awaken this sleeping giant.
People need to catch themselves on, he didn't leave us in a midnight flit, he done the treble and left us in great shape. He wasn't being fake, he had his own ambitions. I wish him all the luck in the world in his future.
Brenda left you in pretty great shape, in fact better shape than Ange really, he stayed longer and delivered more trophies, but you made him a pariah because he had the audacity to leave your club mid season. He was pretty obviously saying the board weren’t backing him for Europe, so he left. You lot had death threat songs sung about him and annihilated the guy on every single social media outlet available, and from the stands. No wonder Ange decided to wait til the end of the season, even though this was pretty much sorted 3 months ago. Ange didn’t like a portion of the Celtic fan base, so have a look at yourselves, the self proclaimed ‘best fans in the world’.
I was upset he left. I was upset he handled the questions the way he did, but I don’t know how he could have handled in a way that would not have left me upset. It’s true, his focus had to be the treble without unnecessary distractions. As to him saying ‘you’d be surprised’ how long I stay, it was a throw away line at a time I suspect he had rejected interest already; then Tottenham came knocking. Ange is an authentic man but not everything can be straightforward, or smoothly navigated, when big things are afoot. I’m a bit gutted nonetheless, but I’m still on his bus.
A well balanced discussion on an emotional issue, well handled guys. Earlier in the year Ange was fielding questions about spurious links to relegation threatened clubs, it's quite different to having an offer from a top 8 EPL team. (And don't forget agents are paid to constantly be on the lookout for opportunities, even for players/agents who might be quite settled where they are). He had been preparing Celtic for the Champions League - in a coaching conference at Lennoxtown a couple of months back he revealed some of the changes he was making to adapt to the higher level of competition. I'm very disappointed that we won't get to see him take this particular squad into the CL, but I don't doubt the sincerity of how he felt about Celtic or how he expressed it.
The seamless nature of the Josip Juranovic / Ali Johnstone transfers might give us some hope that our underlying football operations have improved, or it may of course just be an Ange thing…
Absolutely incredible insight, especially regarding whether Ange was having a negative affect and if he could take us to the next level, starting to make it feel like it’s not the end of world
Sir Alex said 'if your looking for loyalty...buy a dug' Im all for the Bodo Glimt guy. Turned us over Angeball style & the Jose's Roma same way. He plays big athletic guys that dont get pushed about but they can play alright. We will rightly be favourites next season for the domestic trophies but is anyone else just *eed off getting absolutely humped in Europe like Ange & Brendon etc? Bodo fella plays with a style that doesn't leave his backline exposed to a hammering & for that he gets my vote HH Thanks for the pod guys.
We are like his players, he doesn't get too close because he knows he will be going one day. He is very ambitious and as such could not refuse this offer. Correct me if I'm wrong but, he saw out his contract.
Very good discussion as always. Brendan would be my choice because he is a top coach and he knows the gig very well. He also needs to bounce back after the Leicester episode and I can't see him being offered any big jobs in the EPL for the moment. We need to win the league and anything we achieve in Europe is an added bonus. 🍀🍀🍀
I wish Ange all the best but he should not have mentioned Tommy. As a Glasgow born man I think Tommy was unique and would have given absolutely everything for the club, leave him out of your farewell speech, please. Neither would I hold Ange in the same sphere as Jock Stien . Love the pod/show guys 👍🍀
I give u a like but Ange doesnt come remotely close to them guys ..Jock Stein stands alone as best ever Celtic manager by a country mile ..Ange only was here 2 yrs only and only won Spl titles and cups in Scotland because other teams are mince ..When Jock Stein was winning Celtic 9 titltes in a row i recall them yrs and other teams were much better and not just Celtic and rangers were very good but teams like Aberdeen , Dundee Utd , Hearts , Dunfermline , Motherwell , Hibs , St Johnstone Airdrie all were good sides and nothing was guaranteed them yrs Plus in Europe both Ange and Rodgers the Rat were hopeless ..Davie Moyes should be no 1 on Celtics list as the guy deserves the job if he wants it that is ..but i doubt he shall take it as the Celtic job seems like a Poison challice with this board who dont tend to hand managers enough cash for players . Im also fed up saying to people in England that if Celtic and rangers were allowed into the Epl then England would not know whats happening to it ..as them teams would be Huge as rich businessmen from Lands End to John O Groats would be falling over themselfs for the want to be a part of something HUGE ..in which England has never seen before in their lifes Them teams have huge fan bases World wide ..but in Scotland fans travel from not just Glasgow and West coast but also supporters buses etc run from many towns and other citys within Scotland from the North , East , South and West coasts of Scotland every week ..Celtic and rangers get vast majority of their fans going to games from all parts of Scotland But sadly Spl does not receive moneys to aid all the clubs within Scotland and Celtic champions again and double cup winners hardly receive much in comparison to English teams even for just being in the Epl they receive big money Celtic for me would win Epl within 4 seasons as players would want to play for such passionate fans as they would receive similar wages to others . But things are as they are today and Celtic and rangers and rest within Scotland just have to get on with it ...and for Celtic in need of new manager now well Ange for me he wont be missed ..as never done well in Europe Maybe another manager with better tactics shall as u need to be stronger at the back as well as up front to win big games . Davie Moyes shpuld be guy asked if he would take it , guys just won Conference with West Ham v Fiorentina in which was a tough match 2/1 . Just lost out in semis also last season ..But who ever comes in has to bring in right players for Champs league ahead and if Celtic fall down to Europa then see how he does then and then Spl title again is also important to win for Europe as guy on pod said its where Celtic get millions from .
I think you guys have nailed it, Ange is a "cult of personality" I'm an Australian who became interested in Football (Soccer, we are spoilt for choice here) because of Anges world cup team performance. I've been following the man and not so much the teams he manages, I can't help but think that the teams' Ange manages are more part of his story than he is part of theirs, this is Anges' destiny unfolding, it could be footballs greatest underdog managers story, if he goes on to win the EPL it will be a movie 🎵 Jet - Look what you've done 🎵 Anges time at celtic... "The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long, and you have burned so very brightly Ange" - bladerunner
''None of us wanted him to leave'' & especially after ONLY two seasons, for goodness sake, hence the legitimate shock & surprise at him doing so, when the script for most of us was that he would be around for three or four seasons before he departed & for me whether he stayed or went, he had a huge amount of work to do in the summer with the Champions League Group Stages only now three months & one transfer window away & so he's left it to his successor as the newbie to perform these gargantuan tasks over the summer & so he has to be appointed soon.
Ange deserves his move to the EPL. Every step in his managerial career has been hard-earned. I don’t think anything’s come easy to him. It’s been a long slog, over decades. I wish he had stayed with us, but, I can’t begrudge him. He gave us two great years and left us with a treble. I hope he does great down there and shuts a few mouths. Muscat…? Would I be correct in thinking he was a bit of a ‘Mr Angry’, and, a bit of a nutcase…? If I recall correctly, he used to get sent off on a regular basis. Maybe he’s settled down and matured a little. Alan - we’ll let this week’s potty-mouth outburst slide, as we’re all a wee bit emotional with Ange’s departure. But, a FAB pod all the same.
I live in Mumbai and have watched The Islanders and, while have always enjoyed the games, I can tell you that the quality of the football is not great. Even more marked is that the pressures associated with football in India are almost non existent. It is a minority sport and receives very limited coverage. Too much of a gamble for me.
47:00 Alan's made some valid points here but just to pay devils advocate for a second, If there is a manager out there who is a good coach, has ambition, has managed in a pressurised environment before, has been successful before..... Then he'll most likely be out of our reach already. Anyone we go for is probably going to have some sort of question mark hanging over them wether it be inexperience, failed in their last job, never managed in Europe etc.... There is bound to be something questionable about them. As with players, we are not shopping in the elite markets
Another good post, Mantis, you're totally right. I think id rather take the risk on potential upside than play it safe. We really need to step up, sideways won't do
People seem to forget that part of his job was (and is now at Spurs) to bring stability. You don't do that by talking about leaving before the final game of the season. What Ange did is professional. We might want him to stay here, but it's just not happening. Accept it, move on, and hope another ambitious manager tries to prove a point managing Celtic next seasons. it will help the club in the long term.
Going by what Alan was saying I’ll be dead by the next time we win a CL game. No Rodgers for me . He was here during the “ desert years “…..no Rangers to contend with. The “ Bodo guy” for me especially if his second in command came with him. There will be guys available who we haven’t heard of who could do a very good job for us. It’s up to the club to put a bit of effort in to find them though………
ENDA I'm sorry for my nonsensical tripe outburst last week over Ange sorry 🙏🏻 it's one of the best podcast on the tube honestly. Love listening to you Alan and juco. ✌☘👍
Some really sound points. You’re right, Enda. Any new coach or new CEO in a business is going to try to build a team ethos and that involves finding areas of commonality, things to use to identify with the club and for support to identify with him. I don’t think any of it was lies or cynicism. He was a genuine guy but at the sane time he’s still a hired gun and, as the guys said, perhaps two years is the natural life cycle and we just have to be be ready as a club to get the next guy in…🍀
Most important is winning the league? Muscat's track record of winning titles with Yokohama and Melbourne Victory, both after taking over Ange's side, makes him a strong candidate for Celtic. Yokohama were in the same position as Celtic when Ange left. Appointed Muscat. Won title. I say this as someone who hates Muscat due to his dirty playing style and career-ending tackles. Ange is a gentleman, while Muscat is a scumbag, but he'll win the league.
have to say i am in complete agreement with alan on the ange departure issue. leaving a football management job for another football management job is one of those Schrodinger's cat scenarios. you simultaneously have and dont have the job , so until you are at 100% confidence interval that you have the job , saying anything definitive tends to cause more problems than solutions, especially if you dont end up getting the job timings everything, and given the emotional volatility of owners in regards to their investments , its hard to get the perfect exit. unfortunately there is no pleasing fans with all this , since leaving a football club is very binary emotionally . you are either a traitor if you leave early or you face the firing squad if you overstay your welcome. football management is a blood sport if ever there was one
Re Europe: We have to decide what we want to do as a club. Neil Lennon (1st spell) and WGS got us punching above our weight in Europe but it wasn't via any sort of beautiful football. It was pragmatic functional football that got us some decent results. Under Rodgers we tried playing a better style and we predictably got leathered. The mantra at the time was "well that's the only way you'll ever improve. 10 men behind the ball, will get you some results but you'll never actually improve". OK fine! I was willing to give it a go but then Rodgers fcuks off after 2 and a bit seasons and we get Lennon. Under Ange we tried playing a better style and we predictably got leathered...... We were hit with the same mantra of "be patient" "It's a learning curve" etc... and now Ange has fcuked off! So how can we build towards holding our own in Europe, whilst playing attractive football, if the managers keep leaving? Our best European results of the last 10 years have actually come under Neil Lennon!! So we really need an honest assessment of what it is we want here. Do we want a run in Europe (playing negative, defensive football that will no doubt bleed in to our domestic football) or do we go for another "progressive football" disciple and have another 2 years of CL "learning curve" humpings before he fcuks off and takes the Brentford job or something
Our play against Bodo is a true reflection of who we really are. No physicality in the middle of the park. No ability to handle a high press. No first rate keeper. Our team as it stands has not been improved from the season before. If we don't get the right manager and at least 5 new physical players with European experience I fear the champions league will be another embarrassment.
Could be an exciting future ahead with some of the potential candidates… Would love for you to check out a video a made recently on Celtic during the 90’s when they had arguably one of the best attacking options in Europe titled ‘The Three Amigos’ 🇳🇱🇵🇹🇮🇹
How about a managerial team of Damien Duff and Robbie Keane ? They both have strong Celtic connections Duff has been doing very well in Ireland and Keane was highly thought of by Big Sam at Leeds .
HH Bhoys what u all are saying is very true my worries is ccv not talk about the rest have , what we require to do is sell for 30mil or more add ons added in if we can get that kind of money: As we have had players who did not want to be here in the past causes all sorts of trouble ,new man coming in must have same or better than ANGE SO WE CAN GET a winning team where all is happy : Rogers worries me he might move on if another club comes in for him also 3yr contract with big money clause he he leaves hh ktf
Ange had a big job to do next season. Get two or three big, strong skilful players into his first picks. Too many same size players that cannot compete in Europe or even against Rangers as last game showed. Martin O’neil had big players throughout team and although times have changed. Its glaring in England how big and strong players are. Declan Rice for instance is a big beast. CCV is the only player who could compete for strength and power. Carl nearly there. Ralston and Johnston ok for height and strength. Nobody else. O’Riley not strong enough like Kobyashi. Needs more power to be any good for us. Oh, might get there.
When it comes to the next manager we need to be smart. We have a select few candidates that realistically would come and thats not because the club and what we offer but the league. For me we have to be exploring the option of every title winning manager that is in the equivalent of our league, especially managers that have any success in europe should propel them to the top of list of interviewing. Graham potter is my first pick now. He has experienced unreal success at ostersunds, domestically and at european level(look at them now). He plays attacking football can work to a budget and has experience of playing in a similar league. If we can get him in the Celtic environment he would thrive imo replicate his time at ostersund, I dont think he would be in a rush for another epl job after Chelsea plus he has already managed the championship and a mid epl team. Potter needs to rebuild his name similar to when rodgers first came and celtic with domestic and Euro success can offer him that. 2nd choice is the bodo manager for near enough same reason as potter.
The two season burn out may well be pertinent. You combine that with opposing managers learning how to negate the effectiveness of our play .signs that Beale knew you suffocate our midfield you really stop Celtic playing .
Alan is right, get someone in with a good record to win the league, in the expectation he’s our last manager. Meantime build a proper football operations dept and when new manager leaves, we hire a head coach with the right philosophy and have a list of replacements.
I think high intensity Angeball probably has a shelf life ..unless you turn players around repeatedly....from the conversation the guys were having Enda fancies Maresca...Alan Brendan or Muscat and james Knutsaen A little surprised kevin mckenna's name not mentioned ...marvellous job at Ipswich
Alan may well be right that there could be a silver lining in Ange leaving. It all depends on who comes in next. He may well revitalise the currently tired-looking squad and Ange will quickly be forgotten. We just don't know at the moment.
It's not just a question of which team, but also which league. And Celtic are an excellent team, but the SPFL is not a top flight league and never will be. Unless we go for a Super League or something like that, Celtic is a stepping stone to a big 5 league.
Watched Yokohama yesterday morning just like watching Celtic. Would have Muscat in a second. He is clearly a strong candidate to seemlessly take over the current squad of players with the least disruption to playing style He has already managed Maeda and Iwata won player of yesr under him. He is a proven winner of leagues in Australia and japan both much more competitive than Scotland.
You don't have to do a deep dive to uncover this is AP's typical modus operandi... I'm literally shocked that so many expected otherwise and are treating him like some sort of Messiah. He is a VERY ruthless and cold individual, which btw is not a criticism per se, more of an observation. It was only ever going to end this way. The team knew he was off for weeks hence the drop off in performances. Incidentally, I've heard a lot of Celtic fans talking the current crop up. I'm old enough to have seen a lot of Celtic squads and in my opinion O'Neill's team would have absolutely battered them. 🍀
great chat, only one thing to say about kevin muscat, kind of mentality that would start a riot in a cemetary, by all accounts he was a thug on the football field , but maybe hes mellowed to tony soprano levels, so perfect for celtic, celtics net xg this season around 1.8+ , rangers , 1.4 + , so the laws of probability say rangers will drop more points next season if the squad variance is limited, but beale for all his short comings has rangers at remarkable consistency , so whoever celtic get as a manager cannot afford to drop net xg and points from the get go, and celtic may well be doing it without kyogo, jota and orily , if the transfer rumors are correct. kyogos contribution in terms of team assists + goals per 90 minutes is around 20% i think, so celtic within reach of rangers , if the loss of that potential isn't neutralized. if harry redknapp is a reliable source as a spurs insider and advisor, ange has been on spurs shortlist for months , and the drop off in celtics form late season may not entirely be a coincidence. unfortunately, anges recruitment to a high profile gig in the epl, draws attention to other celtic talent, so the recruitment will need to be sharp. i will stick my neck out re ange and spurs re outcomes. spurs average .22 for their top 20 players in terms of minutes played for assists + goals per 90 minutes , man c are at below .4 , and celtic probably best in europe at .5+, so adjustng for league strength and squad talent, it would not entirely surprise me if ange had spurs at the top of the epl by mid season if he can get anywhere near celtic metrics with a more talented squad. what caught my eye about the spurs squad aren't the starters but the fringe players, there appears to be some angeball strike and attacking contribution potential lurking there. some superstars in the making
The most significant thing about Muscat is that he has less than an ounce of managerial experience compared to Ange who has about 25 years of learning to back up his move to Spurs! I like Alan, and he talks a fair amount of sense; but Muscat? Simply because he applies Ange's style. It's not the same model at all without the personality of Ange behind it -- and his extensive experience of which Muscat has only a fraction!... Mmmmm. I understand that the players have -- ingrained into their psyche -- this high press, inverted full backs and wingers, rapid tempo pressing for 90 minutes, so in terms of continuity it would be ideal if we can get someone similar. But what are the chances of finding a clone of Ange (with his long experience, communication skills, personality and presence? Nada! Therefore, it may well have to be a combination of Angeball, and someone such as Knutsen -- who plays in a similar vein. This hybrid type of football is geared more for CL football, with a pragmatic approach that covers defence and attack. Knutsen would also address our defensive vulnerabilty that was exploited in Europe over the last two years. From my vantage point, I've changed my mind and now see the three best candidates as follows in relation to preference: 1. Knutsen (if he can be convinced to come rather than choose an Ajax etc; 2. Steve Clarke (if he can be persuaded to leave his Scotland post. Both have one common denominator: they have the potential to play winning football that is perfectly okay on the eye, but are set up to be harder to beat. It is this difficulty to beat in Europe which is long overdue for us. If those two are not willing, then I'd go for Potter (despite the Chelsea problems -- Chelsea being a club that is a basket case for all managers) -- think Mourinho, Conte, Benitez, Villa-Boas, Ancelotti, Hiddink -- and two CL winners in Tuchell and di Matteo -- all moved out -- therefore it would be unfair for me to blame Potter for the structural and directorial problems at Chelsea; all of these managers have failed in the last 16 years for a reason -- similar to Spurs, in some ways. The club is the problem, not all of the managers they went through. But Potter is highly thought of by many of the best coaches in England -- including Pep and Klopp; The only reservations I have is that he's not been successful at a big club the size of Celtic yet. Coming mostly from smaller clubs. But, then, Ange had not been at a big club until coming to us. From a very small pool to choose from for a club of Celtic's stature, these three appear to be the best that may possibly be available. But knowing the Celtic board and their general incompetence, it could all turn to shit as well. Let's hope not.

I would really love you guys to address the REAL reason Ange left & why Celtic can only be a stepping stone for both managers & players. 4 competitive league games per season won’t cut it! The toxic nature of the GB is not appealing! There is a naivity & dare I say it arrogance in suggestions for BR? No way would he return to scottish football! NEVER! Europe - Board have made it clear they will not invest in CL - so more of the same & even if they did what player of CL ilk would roll up to ply their trade in SPFL?! Please consider spending some time & thoughts about how Celtic might escape the quagmire of the scottish game as they will never truly flourish or achieve while north of the border! Sad but true 😌
I don't blame Ange, at all. Spurs is a dream job and the SPFL just can't compare to the EPL. Yes, Celtic have Champions League, but we also have Ross County away.
Not my choice the board will recruit someone from the city group enzo maresca would be massive mistake not enough time or the experience as top class manager please don’t go down this road
Ronny Delia was the first attempt at Ange Postecoglou, a winner's record in a 'smaller' league. Eddie Howe was an attempt to replicate Rodgers, a previously successful EPL manager needing to prove his worth again. As many stupid mistakes as the board makes (Neil 😟) that suggests a train of thought wrt the manager, not sheer luck. All rationality and objectivity goes out the window when we stop talking about the boards failings and consider their achievements. Heads you win, tails they lose.
@@alanmorrison5981 And since neither Rodgers or Muscat is going to be the next Celtic Manager, your frustration will only be matched by your new found enthusiasm for publicly criticising Ange Ball & how it was never ever going to succeed at the very highest level in Europe.....
Thaw most salient point was made by Alan. We have to win the 23/24 league title. Anything else is irrelevant. Why? The Champions League format changes in 24/25 to a league based system. The Swiss Model.
How ? Apparently Ange knocked back a few jobs in his two years and that's without any noticeable results in Europe. If Ange was a man of his word and got us going in Europe then he could've had his pick of any job that came up. Strachan showed more loyalty and he wasnt a Celtic fan/man and performed amazing in Europe .
Just like so many other huge Clubs, Celtic have completely NOT ''sourced talent'' & particularly of the home grown variety, for decades & as so lamentably evidenced by only McGregor & Tierney being of the sufficient quality to successfully make it through the ranks in the last TWENTY FIVE YEARS or so for goodness sake & even worse, the last quality (& I mean quality) home grown striker we've produced is Charlie Nicholas & that was a huge big whopping FORTY THREE YEARS ago & how on earth can that be for the attacking style of play that Celtic FC only ever play?
Miserable Moyes & Miserable Clarke & their respective brands of miserable football, are never ever coming to Celtic Park in ANY shape or form. Never ever.

Muscat ? Have you been smoking your socks lads The bodo manager has been battering through teams in Europe from a farmers league - is that no what we want ?
Muscat is a no brainer for me. Have you seen his Yokohama team? They play the exact same style as Celtic and are top of the league. A league which is so much more competitive than Scotland. He has won leagues in Australia and Japan and has already managed Maeda and Iwata won player of the year under him. Why not?
Devil’s advocate. Is Celtic’s model to have the funds to be viable and continue to bring in good enough players to win local trophies, sell on players profitably, and hope for some good results here and there in the European knockout League? Pragmatically speaking, does the Celtic board see real success in Europe, with some consistency, as a total pipe dream and a fool’s journey to invest too much directly in building a European-quality team? Maybe it devolves back to how financial the club can ever be, ostensibly, based on the economics of Scottish football. World class players will only stay as long as it takes to get a bigger move. Even players good enough for Celtic require some ambition to even be there, how long will any stay, as you guys say.
@@johnmcauley3042 should? Recall that Celtic were a wreck and that Europe is a step from the local league. Takes time. ‘Should’ is always a little naive. Celtic are not a big club financially.
Wow - a world class talent ? Then Jock Stein mentioned in the same breath. What nonsense! He was a failure in Europe. Where is the evidence that justifies a world class tag? Winning the SPl with resources far in excess of the opposition (and indeed the SPl has been especially dire this year ) ? He was a fake who achieved no more than a successful Celtic (or indeed Rangers) manager would reasonably have been expected to achieve given the relative financial advantage we retain domestically.
Ange is a highly paid contractor who rejected our offers of an extension to take 5 times his contractor rate elsewhere. Im a Celtic fan without any immigrant background so i didn't really buy into the immigration connection, but I do feel that connection was genuine within our fanbase and that he does have a humble working-class background. He leaves us in a great condition and much better condition than when he took over. We get 5 Million in cash as well. Don't forget Ange did flop for us in Europe and his set-up was naive and of course Celtic still don't defend set-pieces and we dont score from many set-pieces. so I feel there are many managers who can fix those things. Personally, I would hope we would hire a manager whose main remit is to get us consistency in Europe by making us transition from spfl to Europe. Agree with Alan, we probably do need a less cavalier system and approach for Europe, which is why I think Moyes could be a great option if he could come up with a blend or a hybrid of Ange's technical players combined with some big physical athletic footballers who can score set-pieces and defend them. Such a hybrid has to be the path we take.
Right from day one with Ange Ball, I've ALWAYS publicly stated that it would NEVER EVER work at the very highest level in Europe & got continually lambasted from all quarters for saying so & now they're coming out of the Ange Ball woodwork to say the same thing ( hilarious stuff!!) & so now the new guy & as I've said elsewhere, ONLY has the gargantuan task of completely deprogramming the practice of Ange Ball & for some, that's ALL they really know & then pray they can play to his philosophy & do better than Ange in Europe!!!!!
@@frankbrennan1619 I think that's what Alan Morrison is saying, which is that he has always suspected that Ange-ball doesn't and cant ever scale up for Europe. Or the way I see it is that to improve in Europe we need to transition from our spfl style to a different style and intensity for Europe, which might mean less attacking approach. I mean even Neil Lennon even in his second stint did better than Ange in Europe with his Lazio and group phase qualification, and Lenny was more defensive. Ange system did seem more suited to the spfl and of course Ange ball crushed the Rangers though there were some signs that Beale was correcting that. It's an exciting time for us
For me, Vieira is far too languid & laidback for the aggressive & hostile football goldfish bowl that is only ever Glasgow & of course not forgetting he was complete crap at Crystal Palace too!!!!
@@frankbrennan1619 one of the most competetive midfielders of the modern era languid? Don't confuse how he talks with his spirit Frank. Pretty rubbish at Palace though haha
Ange could really do us one big huge favour by taking the completely useless Kennedy & Laptop Strachan with him doon to Spurs but is Ange really that daft?
That's not what he means. He means that all the other clubs in the league are so poor that rangers, without having to do much improving, can easily rack up 90-95 pts in their games vs those teams. So what it boils down to probably is the 4 games vs Celtic. Hence - "Rangers are only 2 wins & a draw away from winning the title". He doesn't mean that they are LITERALLY 2 wins away. He means that if they pick up more points in the head to head vs Celtic then they'll likely win the league. That'll always be the case in our league until the clubs in 3rd-12th are of a better standard and not just cannon fodder.
@@Mantis_Toboggan_MD. The huge tragedy for Scottish football that ALL so-called Scottish football ''journos'' have completely ignored for decades is just how ridiculously woeful & mediocre Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs & the two Dundee Clubs have ALL been for decades & there really was a time in the not too distant past that ALL of these five Clubs had at least three or four players that could walk into Celtic Park & Ibrokes & immediately play for these respective Glasgow Clubs but now they are just full of useless dross & that's sad.
Iraorola would be unbelievable. i made a list of my own with guys like ismael rescalvo, luis castro, farioli, henrik rydstrom but i didnt include iraorola cus i thought he was way above us, would be as close to ideal as possible. could even say an upgrade over ange, vallecano were one of the best pressing teams in europe
As a Tottenham supporter this was interesting as hell, excited for Ange ball. Hope you guys do well in Europe always had a soft spot for the Bhoys🫶.
@Expo Scotland Looool “white powder” it’s a real problem in London, Green lanes AKA home of the Turks gotta love it😂😂. On a real from everything I’ve seen / heard genuinely reckon Ange can awaken this sleeping giant.
Green Lanes isn't that bad, very sleepy little high street with nice Turkish cafes and hair dressers. Good pub there called the Salisbury

People need to catch themselves on, he didn't leave us in a midnight flit, he done the treble and left us in great shape. He wasn't being fake, he had his own ambitions. I wish him all the luck in the world in his future.
gers fan hope yous dont get the bodo guy
Did he not leave his last club in Japan midseason? He might not have done it with us but it's in him; it's in all of them.
@@KyloNight you let your club die 🧟♂️
Still be in my seat next season no matter who the manager is 🍀
And we need the new guy to hang around for a wee bit longer than two seasons!!!!
The seamless nature of the Josip Juranovic / Ali Johnstone transfers might give us some hope that our underlying football operations have improved, or it may of course just be an Ange thing…
Or luck ?
Absolutely incredible insight, especially regarding whether Ange was having a negative affect and if he could take us to the next level, starting to make it feel like it’s not the end of world
Sir Alex said 'if your looking for loyalty...buy a dug'
Im all for the Bodo Glimt guy. Bodo fella plays with a style that doesn't leave his backline exposed to a hammering & for that he gets my vote HH
Thanks for the pod guys.
Fantastic pod guys with some great discussion points.
Spot on ...a fraud using TB words as he knew he was going
I give u a like but Ange doesnt come remotely close to them guys ..Jock Stein stands alone as best ever Celtic manager by a country mile ..Ange only was here 2 yrs only and only won Spl titles and cups in Scotland because other teams are mince ..When Jock Stein was winning Celtic 9 titltes in a row i recall them yrs and other teams were much better and not just Celtic and rangers were very good but teams like Aberdeen , Dundee Utd , Hearts , Dunfermline , Motherwell , Hibs , St Johnstone Airdrie all were good sides and nothing was guaranteed them yrs
Plus in Europe both Ange and Rodgers the Rat were hopeless ..Davie Moyes should be no 1 on Celtics list as the guy deserves the job if he wants it that is ..but i doubt he shall take it as the Celtic job seems like a Poison challice with this board who dont tend to hand managers enough cash
for players .
Im also fed up saying to people in England that if Celtic and rangers were allowed into the Epl
then England would not know whats happening to it ..as them teams would be Huge
as rich businessmen from Lands End to John O Groats would be falling over themselfs
for the want to be a part of something HUGE ..in which England has never seen before in their lifes
Them teams have huge fan bases World wide ..but in Scotland fans travel from not just Glasgow and West coast but also supporters buses etc run from many towns and other citys within Scotland from the North , East , South and West coasts of Scotland every week ..Celtic and rangers get vast majority of their fans going to games from all parts of Scotland
But sadly Spl does not receive moneys to aid all the clubs within Scotland
and Celtic champions again and double cup winners hardly receive much in comparison
to English teams even for just being in the Epl they receive big money
Celtic for me would win Epl within 4 seasons as players would want to play for such passionate fans as they would receive similar wages to others .
But things are as they are today and Celtic and rangers and rest within Scotland
just have to get on with it ...and for Celtic in need of new manager now
well Ange for me he wont be missed ..as never done well in Europe
Maybe another manager with better tactics shall as u need to be stronger at the back as well
as up front to win big games . Davie Moyes shpuld be guy asked if he would take it , guys just won Conference with West Ham v Fiorentina in which was a tough match 2/1 . Just lost out in semis also last season ..But who ever comes in has to bring in right players for Champs league ahead
and if Celtic fall down to Europa then see how he does then and then Spl title again is also important to win for Europe as guy on pod said its where Celtic get millions from .
Brilliant analysis, Alan.

I think you guys have nailed it, Ange is a "cult of personality" I'm an Australian who became interested in Football (Soccer, we are spoilt for choice here) because of Anges world cup team performance. I've been following the man and not so much the teams he manages, I can't help but think that the teams' Ange manages are more part of his story than he is part of theirs, this is Anges' destiny unfolding, it could be footballs greatest underdog managers story, if he goes on to win the EPL it will be a movie

@@THEPORKCHOPEXPRESS1888 Thank you for very kind words The Donkey Bus & I'm fine thanks & hope you & all yours are safe & well.
Correct on Muscat. Very angry, but calmed after being with Ange did a while. Still angry but more reserved. Violent footballer
Well said about Ange Alan.
Really great analysis of a tough subject. Great pod.
Another good post, Mantis, you're totally right. I think id rather take the risk on potential upside than play it safe. We really need to step up, sideways won't do
I’m following Ange but still yield to the insights if the huddle.

love this chat.....
Ange is a gentleman, while Muscat is a scumbag, but he'll win the league.
have to say i am in complete agreement with alan on the ange departure issue.
leaving a football management job for another football management job is one of those Schrodinger's cat scenarios. you simultaneously have and dont have the job , so until you are at 100% confidence interval that you have the job , saying anything definitive tends to cause more problems than solutions, especially if you dont end up getting the job
timings everything, and given the emotional volatility of owners in regards to their investments , its hard to get the perfect exit.
unfortunately there is no pleasing fans with all this , since leaving a football club is very binary emotionally . you are either a traitor if you leave early or you face the firing squad if you overstay your welcome.
football management is a blood sport if ever there was one
@@RedScotland you never have the job until the ink is dry on the contract,
Re Europe:
We have to decide what we want to do as a club.
Good post, Mantis. For my own two pennies: give me pragmatism and european results all the way.
@@DavidByrne85 Even if it means the domestic stuff would make your eyes bleed?
Could be an exciting future ahead with some of the potential candidates…
Would love for you to check out a video a made recently on Celtic during the 90’s when they had arguably one of the best attacking options in Europe titled ‘The Three Amigos’ 🇳🇱🇵🇹🇮🇹
We don’t want BR back nor AP back. We never stop, we never look back!
greet like never before
Ange had a big job to do next season.
Agree our midfield as it stands will be manhandled in Europe. Big changes needed as Scottish teams have found us out.
You combine that with opposing managers learning how to negate the effectiveness of our play .signs that Beale knew you suffocate our midfield you really stop Celtic playing .
hahahahaha......what a load of shit.
Marcelo Gallardo, former manager of Racing Club is currently on Sabbatical!
Alan is right, get someone in with a good record to win the league, in the expectation he’s our last manager. Meantime build a proper football operations dept and when new manager leaves, we hire a head coach with the right philosophy and have a list of replacements.
I think high intensity Angeball probably has a shelf life ..unless you turn players around repeatedly....from the conversation the guys were having Enda fancies Maresca...Alan Brendan or Muscat and james Knutsaen
A little surprised kevin mckenna's name not mentioned ...marvellous job at Ipswich
No worries if he was on Ranger's books as a player but didn't get much game time because of apparent illegal play?
The only thing football managers have affinity with is money.
Knutsen is 6/4
great chat,
only one thing to say about kevin muscat, kind of mentality that would start a riot in a cemetary, by all accounts he was a thug on the football field , but maybe hes mellowed to tony soprano levels, so perfect for celtic,
celtics net xg this season around 1.8+ , rangers , 1.4 + , so the laws of probability say rangers will drop more points next season if the squad variance is limited, but beale for all his short comings has rangers at remarkable consistency , so whoever celtic get as a manager cannot afford to drop net xg and points from the get go,
and celtic may well be doing it without kyogo, jota and orily , if the transfer rumors are correct. kyogos contribution in terms of team assists + goals per 90 minutes is around 20% i think, so celtic within reach of rangers , if the loss of that potential isn't neutralized.
if harry redknapp is a reliable source as a spurs insider and advisor, ange has been on spurs shortlist for months , and the drop off in celtics form late season may not entirely be a coincidence. unfortunately, anges recruitment to a high profile gig in the epl, draws attention to other celtic talent, so the recruitment will need to be sharp.
i will stick my neck out re ange and spurs re outcomes. spurs average .22 for their top 20 players in terms of minutes played for assists + goals per 90 minutes , man c are at below .4 , and celtic probably best in europe at .5+, so adjustng for league strength and squad talent, it would not entirely surprise me if ange had spurs at the top of the epl by mid season if he can get anywhere near celtic metrics with a more talented squad.
what caught my eye about the spurs squad aren't the starters but the fringe players, there appears to be some angeball strike and attacking contribution potential lurking there. some superstars in the making
I’d bet Brendan had his CV in the post for the Spurs job.
It will be seamless if the bodo Klimt manager takes the wheel.
As an Australian football supporter, Muscat to Ange is like Loki to Thor. The man is an arrogant thug.
That's why rangers signed him mate, always sign fkn animals
And not forgetting the small matter of him playing for the zombies not too long ago.....

Hello lads HH WE ARE CELTIC
I don't blame Ange, at all. Spurs is a dream job and the SPFL just can't compare to the EPL. Yes, Celtic have Champions League, but we also have Ross County away.
Deep down we knew this day would come after all the silver Ware Celtic have won over the the last 2 years 👍
Not my choice the board will recruit someone from the city group enzo maresca would be massive mistake not enough time or the experience as top class manager please don’t go down this road

How ? Apparently Ange knocked back a few jobs in his two years and that's without any noticeable results in Europe.
“Have to win the league next season” ? It’s a two team league
John Terry Steve Clark and Jim Duffy can lift the squad and the Club ! C.O.Y.B.A.G.I.G.💚💛🏴
Miserable Moyes & Miserable Clarke & their respective brands of miserable football, are never ever coming to Celtic Park in ANY shape or form. Never ever.

Muscat ? Have you been smoking your socks lads
The bodo manager has been battering through teams in Europe from a farmers league - is that no what we want ?
Muscat is a no brainer for me. Have you seen his Yokohama team? They play the exact same style as Celtic and are top of the league. A league which is so much more competitive than Scotland. He has won leagues in Australia and Japan and has already managed Maeda and Iwata won player of the year under him. Why not?
He bought a lottery ticket and won
Can’t understand Spurs taking an unproven manager.
Who is des Buckingham?
He is the Mumbai FC manager, was announced to be in Glasgow today, is also a city group coach. Maybe unrelated but give it a few days
The champions League is unfeasible but the conference and Europa we should be doing a hell of a lot better in.
@@johnmcauley3042 should? Recall that Celtic were a wreck and that Europe is a step from the local league. Takes time. ‘Should’ is always a little naive. Celtic are not a big club financially.
Rodgers odds on
It was awe the badge kissing en mentioned Tommy burns.... End of the day bigger than anyone person HH
It is possible for Ange to love Celtic and want to show his appreciation for the support and also want to further his career all at the same time.
kieran mckenna?
… “ Neil Lennon “ 😂🤣😂👍
Ange ball could only work with hundreds of millions..... pep man City.
It's an exciting time for us
@@SL-fg1cd Pep doesn't play Ange Ball because his name is not Ange....
@@SL-fg1cd probably a lot of dark truth in that.
Not that I'm too impressed by his managerial record but Vieira? Unemployed and big City connections
For me, Vieira is far too languid & laidback for the aggressive & hostile football goldfish bowl that is only ever Glasgow & of course not forgetting he was complete crap at Crystal Palace too!!!!

Rangers and Celtic somehow need to leave the Scottish league
Surely we have learned something from Ange,if we don't want to lose John Kennedy give him his chance for a season.
Ange could really do us one big huge favour by taking the completely useless Kennedy & Laptop Strachan with him doon to Spurs but is Ange really that daft?
Ange wants to take John to spurs,he must see something in John,I agree with you with laptop strechan
Is this a parody account ranjurs werent 2w away the league was done when we dropped points moonhowler
Well summarised and thanks
