Was out there about 3 weeks ago on the North Jetty and caught about 7 bonnett head sharks, a single slot drum, and a couple of undersized trout. Threw em all back except one trout and the drum.... Thanks for sharing!
The pre tied Magnum Speck rigs by H&H have a smaller #1 hook. I've always had success with them. I copy that technique when building my own rigs using the freshwater small jigs. Great colors on the big gurl🎣 nice c&r!
Some of the best fried fish I ever ate was Blacktip Shark caught offshore by my teenaged church camp crew on North Padre Island. Camped in huge Army MASH tents on the beach, went on a party boat deep sea fishing, came back with about 40 3 foot long sharks, yum! Never knew it could be so good.
The rock groin immediately left of the pleasure pier used to have a huge deep hole just off it's right side that always held fish. That was 20 years ago.
Ild 18 dropped their prices. As a rod builder, I do think theyre the best bang for the buck of the big companies. I think they are missing out by not building a rod like your old Aerius series but with a better blank.
Hey man I just stumbled on your videos and I enjoy them. Where was the second location you went to where the rocks were at? My grandma has been looking for a place like that with tide pools kinda like that. It would make her year if she could make a trip down here and find a place like that, thank you
i have been wanting to try a ned jig but haven’t bought it yet. No reason other than ADHD and i go to buy ned heads and end up with 3 different colors of ratltraps instead😅. haha but i always wondered if they would be better at avoiding rocks and weeds since some of ned heads have a weed avoider wire on it. I also wonder if trying a ned worm like the basss guys do on that ned head and jigging it off the bottom would work the same also. I figure it might now i just gotta remember to not get ADHDed by all the pretty colors of lures when i go to buy a different jig style i never tried before😄
Hey Mark , Hogies ( El Campo ) makes Great Straight Shrimp Tails ( Touts ) ln More Colors than the “ Swimming Jack “ or the “ Major Minnow “,,,, Just Sayin,,, These were ‘Catching Slotfish Long Before Da ‘ Vudu Shrinp or Any of the ‘ Knockoffs ‘ of Such ,,,, Thnx Sir 🎣✨
@@MDLRFishing ohhhh man that would be interesting to see you do a shark catch and cook. Also before this season is over are you gonna do a kayak trip down the jetty? Thats my favorite videos seeing you jig up big bull reds.

I agree, smaller hooks seem to work best for me too.
Love watching your videos. I can't get down to Galveston very often, but the next time I do, I'm following your advice. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the support 🙏
Great video, Mark, that was an impressive trout, and I'm sure that that snagged shark was certainly an interesting fight! Take care and be safe!
I kinda suspected that it would be a shark. It was more interesting trying to unhook it 😂.
Beautiful trout Mark - you always have good results at that spot - will definitely need to try it for sure - tight lines-PuraSal Angler 🙌🏻
Thanks bro
Can't beat big ol' sow trout on the line! Nice day of fishing Marc!
Thank you Bruce, it was welcomed catch after many hours in the heat.
I like the new rod combo, great video!
Thanks brother
Enjoyed it and the tips!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video fishing Galveston Texas USA 😊
Thanks 👍
Man, I went night fishing for the first time in a while out of clear lake a few nights ago and it was fantastic for beating the heat.
That’s one of the best ways to get it done this time of year.
Great video!
Thanks!
There's just something about catching trout while standing on rocks that's hard to beat! Nice Big Girl!!
It’s as basic as it gets 🤙. Thanks for stopping by!
Shark week on MDLR fishing, cue the Jaws music, lol
😂 can’t stand catching them turds 💩.
Some days are like that regroup restock💪
Those sharks were relentless 😂

I’ve never had shark before. Sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing 👍.

They’re a great Texas made rod company. 🤙
@@MDLRFishing agreed. It would be even cooler if they used Texas made blanks
I liked that peer when it had a hotel and people could fish on the lower level.
Would’ve been nice to experience that.
@MDLRFishing I went to visit it in 2006 I believe. Yeah dude, it was very cool.
Great video dude.
I never have luck there but I’m going to try Saturday. Do you think a 3/8 oz jig would be too heavy/get snagged there?
The tiny 1/10 oz jig heads were the only ones that weren’t getting snagged for me. That’s with me intentionally letting them fall on top of the rocks.

Ft. San Jacinto
You should try fishing the surf with some live croaker. I’ve gone 4 times in the past week and limited out every day.
Thanks for the helpful suggestion Brandon 👍.
I hit seawolf friday night and maxed out on specks 1 was a fatty and got plenty of sand trout
Thanks for sharing!
Good fishing salam dari indonesia 🙏🙏😊
Thank you for watching!

South Jetty
You ever travel down south to fish or just stay in the galveston area?
Right now I’m concentrating on Galveston, Freeport and TX City.
Mark have you thrown any spoons there?
Yes, a lot 😂. Got a similar sized shark on it last time I was there.
@@MDLRFishing ohhhh man that would be interesting to see you do a shark catch and cook. Also before this season is over are you gonna do a kayak trip down the jetty? Thats my favorite videos seeing you jig up big bull reds.
Not sure. My last trip out to the North Jetty didn’t go so well for me.
I hit that first spot about a month ago, as soon as i parked before sunrise i was harassed and followed around by homeless ppl lol.
😂. That’s crazy, in the past few years I’ve been fishing there. I’ve never been bothered by anyone. Stay safe out there.
Maybe crabs biting off your plastic ,.??
That’s certainly a possibility.
i have only 1 objection .that why u throw back fish in the sea .
it could be someone's meal who cant afford it .
u better gave it somebody to eat .
