Despite all the focus we’ve placed on the next generation of fighter jets currently in the works (or on hold) for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. ‘Navy, it’s increasingly certain that the vast majority of the real fighting in the sky will soon be left up to a new slew of artificial-intelligence-powered drone fighters taking their cues from pilots in nearby stealth jets.

Deepseek just proved that training AI can be tens of thousands of times cheaper with a few tweaks.
And then some open source developers figured out how to do it even cheaper than that faster.
And then some kid at a university knocked off another order of magnitude.
That's the entire reason Nvidia shed $600 billion of market cap.
With the various open source software stacks out there, there are no observable limitations.
DARPA and a private company both have developed aircraft agnostic AI autopilot. One stack, any aircraft, just at the update like two files and spent about 30 bucks on hugging face.

If the F-35 pilot can control eight CCAs, one wonders if the B-21 will fly with 32 CCAs - two pilots and two weapons officers. True saturation of the airspace is an extremely effective deterrence to war.

I'm pretty sure Alex made a video about the possibility of the B21 replacing NGAD shortly after it was put on pause due to budget restraints. Maybe that's part of the reason why they made said statement.

Is not about how many one can control, take Australia MQ28 Ghost bat the AI does not really need a human to control it at all. they upload entire mission before it takes off and drone can perform it fully autonomous, human is only there as a custodian to make sure does not go rogue etc, they have drone swarm ai and give one a command and rest will follow.
Australia way ahead in CCA drones and been flying MQ28 with F35 for over 1 year now..
MQ28 can be controllled by E7 and P8 also.. What it was built for..
E7 and P8 have more crew for controlling them then a B21 ..

Alex, for your consideration... On the intro animation, I recommend changing it to:
"Expertise, Objectivity, Combat Veteran" (or Military Veteran)
I'm an admitted nobody, with only a few years editing computer hardware reviews _(albeit, some articles needed heavy rewrites),_ but that's just how I'd have worded it 😊
My logic is: someone can be an expert and objective thinker, but doesn't necessarily mean they *exhibit* those all the time... Whereas phrasing it this way, to me, presents you/the videos as exhibiting your expertise and objectivity; a guarantee, you could say. As for the Veteran part, it just clarifies, as you could've been an "industry veteran" for example, so this removes that ambiguity. As a bonus, it reaffirms that THESE topics are ones you've spent a lot of time around, thereby highlighting why you're an expert and objective.
    Just my 2¢! 🍻
Now, back to the video I go...

So that drone from Anduril Seems pretty awesome. I think it would be pretty interesting if they looked into launching it from other aircraft instead of the rocket launches. At 5000 lbs it is well within the lift capacity of the new v280 valor or even the older blackhawks. If so you could basically launch a jet from anywhere in the world without having to worry about a runway until landing and depending on the cost of each drone that may not even be that big of a deal. Similarly could we have like a rapid dragon equivalent for these things where you could basically drop 3-5 out the back of a cargo plane? It really could be in powerful deployment method.

      @Mongrel214
Just saying that for a long time the white balance on these sandboxx videos has been very blue. Recently it seems to be less blue, but still not quite right.
A number of things could cause a camera to record with a color bias one way or another. In this case, one possibility is that the set is lit with incandescent lights (regular light bulbs). These are normally very yellow, like around 2800° Kelvin and would make the whole scene yellow.
If the camera is set for automatic color balance it would try to compensate and shift the balance towards blue. Some things would appear close to neutral and other things would appear pretty blue.
Another possibility is mixed lighting. There might be artificial lights on set but an open window letting daylight mix in. The areas with the daylight will be much bluer than most artificial lighting (except flash).
My studio strobes have modeling lights built-in which are calibrated to 3200k. The modeling lights can be used to shoot with if you adjust the camera color balance for 3200. When using the strobes in flash mode the modeling lights are automatically switched off as the flash fires so that the lighting color is not mixed.
Something similar can happen with auto exposure. If you take a picture of something that's mostly all black the camera will likely try to compensate and make everything lighter, because it doesn't know that the picture is supposed to be all black.
Snow scenes often come out gray, because again, the camera compensated not knowing that it was supposed to be a mostly all white photo.

Now, with these things getting closer, I'm wondering what the effect is going to be on war in general. If things get to a point where war only (or mostly) affects hardware, rather than human lives, how will politicians adjust their tactics? "you don't run out of ammo as long as you still have power" - technically yes but most likely practically not. Nothing is 100% efficient and when a device generates this much power some of it going to be lost as heat in the device and no matter how much you try, some of that heat is going to do some damage. This is especially true of pulsed energy devices. That means that some components in the weapon is going to have a shot limit (just like barrels do). The big question is what that number is.

While the plans for its use have not been disclosed, Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall referred to the Ghost Bast as a “technology feeder” for the Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) program...

In this video you mentioned not traveling at supersonic speeds because of bad fuel consumption because of 1) bad fuel consumption and 2) damage to RAM coatings. That raises the question I've asked previously, what has happened to the previously much discussed ceramic RAM coatings capable of resisting degradation at high speeds / high temperatures? Has it been proven not to be a solution to the temperature barrier? At the end of the day an ability to fly faster than the adversary to disengage when required is an advantage that will never go away; that can't be achieved without advanced RAM that continues to perform at mach 1.2 and above.

USAF (DoD) must be alert to chip advances and corresponding software updates as AI assumes more roles and responsibilities in air dominance: four to eight super smart drones (CCA) assist the mission commander in all aspects including reconnaissance, dog fights, preliminary bombing runs, and classified mission ops assigned to each swarm agent. Software coding is achieved directly from the swarm making for a hive mindset that anticipates enemy engagement and is self healing, reviewing mission statistics for success. System interfaces are confirmed by rigorous health checks until the commander receives a final countdown to command a "GO" across the swarm. The commander reserves the option to engage or seek safe haven.

I hope we are also thinking about producing a low observable early warning awac type of drone that you can put multiple out and cover a huge area instead of having one or two regular Air Force awac that are huge Targets. having multiple smaller drones with low observable and radar not as big as the ones on the Navy's or Air Force butt big enough to cover a good portion of the sky but you would have multiple of these drones and different parts so you can cover more area and if one gets taken out you still have radar in the air with other drones that are working together cuz these huge aircraft are main targets for enemy Pilots

When you think about it, a guided missile is a crude form of autonomy. Meaning the complexity required for an autonomous weapon once a command to launch has been given is ridiculously low. Once the manned fighter has sent the green light a loyal wingman AI won't need a lot of complexity to launch missiles from either data link or local radar lock.
But it will need testing. Lots and lots of testing.

For the first round of drones, medium performance is good enough, I guess. I saw the "low cost" goal listed, so that means subsonic and shorter range than the F-35s? Also the mention of "missile trucks" sounds to me like they won't have much evasive maneuver capability - can't pull high Gs with a bunch of missiles hanging off the wings, can we ? Just wondering what their "survivability" would be with incoming air-to-air missiles ?

This system is very sci-fi and impressive. Obviously, it is 100% dependent on network communication across all artifacts (aircrafts, satellites and ground systems). I hope they are built considering interference technology and hacking (AI is here and already being weaponized). Not sure how far we are from creating an EMP missile.
