The pinnacle would be a dual ended hammer, flat and round - but if you begin with an axe first, great! Excellent video - I've watched many of Liam's, and I felt like I were there.
That looked like a great time! Glad y’all were able to meet in person. Two greats! The coolness density on the planet increased while y’all were in each other’s presence.
I used to have a big anvil like that when I used to shoe horses, it got sold many moons ago, wish i still had it. Sounds like a fun class, good deal. thanks for sharing.
I've been following Liam for quite awhile now he's amazing! I'm jealous you got to take his class & I didn't! Glad you got the chance to learn from one of the best though!!!
First of all, super dope. Two of my favorite youtubers in 1 video. Secondly, you got forge a hammer. Every blacksmith needs to forge his own hammer, ala Alec Steele
I seriously love both of ur channels very much. I hope to own a hawkbill for Liam soon. His booms are closed right now. And also own something of yours aswell. Great video thanks for the time and effort you give us!!
A Japanese Yarikanna! The spear-plane thingymajig :D That would be really awesome and I'm sure you would come up with an epic project to incorporate it with! :) Keep up the epic work!
How about a 'Chona'(adze), they produce a fantastic surface and are apparently rare ( only one smith in Japan making them). It would also give you a reason to make a steam box as you need to bend the handle.
Drawknife or Adze would be a great next tool. Awesome video!! I’m heading to my own axe making day with Paul (Toronto Blacksmith on RUclips) in 3 weeks. Your video has me stoked even more!!! Thanks!!!!
that forge will teach u more than any person will as long as u have a basic understanding of what ur doing. and I'm sayin this from experience . about 9 years self taught
If you want to practice edge shape forged in bevels, I'd say a chisel or marking knife. If you just want to move a big hunk of metal, I'd say a set of hammers - though it'll take a while without a power hammer.
Hey Jesse have you finished that deck on the back of your house yet? If so what did you end up doing for the decking? The addition looks good especially with the table in it.
Oh snap now second favorite craftsman is getting more into the relm of my first fav. Alec Steele!! Dudd samurai i woukd love to see you or alec make an Adz!
when I go across the border or fly into a job that is outside of Canada I use a carrier like, Fed Ex Express I never had any trouble just remember to package them very well I do use the Greenlee storage boxes and I do pack them very heavy most of the time they beat me to where I am going or come from I do have room for my work clothes too just had a hard time once they transportation they had a hard time with them some were I was traveling by mule to the job site
Great to see ya forging!!!
Alec Steele this is at my fathers shop!
Owen Patrick awesome! Looks like a great shop!
Alec Steele this is evidence of how much of an artistic inspiration you are to all us fellow artisans!
Alec Steele aaaawwwww he’s cheating on you alec
U guys should collaborate again but in person this time

Well, a traditional Japanese wooden plane with a hand forged iron seems right up your alley!
liam is a rare individual and a true craftsman....
Liam Hoffman, full swinging a sledge......definition of beast mode lol. looks like it was an awesome time!
and the fact that they have been working for 13 hours...
I used to have a big anvil like that when I used to shoe horses, it got sold many moons ago, wish i still had it. Sounds like a fun class, good deal. thanks for sharing.
Liam’s a BEAST!
Liam is amazing! Incredible craftsman. Love his channel.
Awesome experience! Thanks for sharing it man!
I've been following Liam for quite awhile now he's amazing! I'm jealous you got to take his class & I didn't! Glad you got the chance to learn from one of the best though!!!
What a wonderful thing to wake up at the crack of noon and have a new Samurai vid. The Liam Hoffman extra was just complete icing. Love it!
Man, forging is so cool!
Duuude! You’re so lucky to be able to do this! Soon you’re going to be the Samurai Blacksmith aswell!
Aaand...there you said it in the video 😂😂
I smiled when you said: Tools didn't arrive but we are forging some new ones and proceed as planned
That looked like a lot of fun!
Blacksmith forearms = goals.
First of all, super dope. Two of my favorite youtubers in 1 video. Secondly, you got forge a hammer. Every blacksmith needs to forge his own hammer, ala Alec Steele

And also own something of yours aswell.
Great video thanks for the time and effort you give us!!
Samurai, I after watching all your videos. I have never before noticed you are a giant!
This was a great video! Would love to take an axe forging class some day.
Glad you can get it done with the tool you have.
What an awesome video, would love to go to that type of workshop!,!
Good memories! Good times!
Great video! The next tool should be a hammer or two, whatever style you need. I'd make all the tools you may need in the future first.
so awesome Jesse. I think you should make a Japanese style smithing hammer. or a Japanese style planing blade.
I have my family, my coffee, and a new samurai video. What more could a man ask for?
How about arms as big as Liam Hoffman!
honesty
A plane blade. You can then make the plane body as well.
I love this channel to the end of the world!
Love the video I've been watching you for years I just started my chain and hope to gain more info from you to use in my videos
Everything about this is awesome!!!!!!!!!
Li-ARM Hoffman! Definitely beast mode!!!
A Japanese Yarikanna! The spear-plane thingymajig :D
That would be really awesome and I'm sure you would come up with an epic project to incorporate it with! :)
Keep up the epic work!
Great video as always! keep them coming. "That's what she said" I agree that a samurai sword is on the docket.
That class looked fun. Gotta get in one of'em.
Great Vid. I can't wait for my axe to turn up.
Tongs, essential tool for handling hot metal. Then across the pond to make a hammer with Alex Steele.
OwainMeadmaker Across the pond hahaha
How about a 'Chona'(adze), they produce a fantastic surface and are apparently rare ( only one smith in Japan making them).
It would also give you a reason to make a steam box as you need to bend the handle.
Nice job on the axe. Very cool.
I would love to see forging a Japanese style plane knife.
Alec and Liam should do a tag team workshop seminar and arm wrestle for the main event/ crowd draw. You could emcee and be referee.
Great production !
A Wood carving gauge would be nice! Plus we could all use the skills to make one to make bowls and spoons and such!
Nice vid. So many colabs. I love it
GEEEEEEEEZUS, dude is ripped!!!! time to start blacksmithing I guess!💪💪💪💪
Forge a froe or an adz for your next project. They seem like the perfect compliment to your new carpentry based daisho.
Drawknife or Adze would be a great next tool. Awesome video!! I’m heading to my own axe making day with Paul (Toronto Blacksmith on RUclips) in 3 weeks. Your video has me stoked even more!!! Thanks!!!!
A hammer of course , can't be a blacksmith without one!
that forge will teach u more than any person will as long as u have a basic understanding of what ur doing. and I'm sayin this from experience . about 9 years self taught
The first tool I forged was a perfect handle screw driver that I use for my plane irons. I have pictures if you'd like to take a look
Top all of that off with a good Philips and the weekend must have been pretty amazing !
Awesome video. But it only makes sense to forge your very own Japanese chisel😀 that would make epic content for sure!
Nice a collaboration vid!!
Make a Draw Knife with awesome wood handles.
Might help that summer bod prep samurai 💪🏼
Youngest FIF Champion
A set of Adam Celadin's competition throwing arrows and throw them Samurai style JESSE!!!
That’s awesome.
Liam is the best
jeez the arms on that guy...
I love your T-shirt!
Next tools could be bench dogs, or fireplace tool set with a Samurai twist.
A Chisel would probably be a good starting place.
I would suggest you make a Japanese style woodworking hammer for your first solo project.
mad man swinging an axe. class
Nice Axe Samurai Carpenter/Blacksmith!
If you're looking for simpler tools that are challenging, how about making your own draw knife?
Excellent.
Start with your own forging hammer, then you can use it to make all your other tools
I really want to take that class
Great day man!
Oh snap now second favorite craftsman is getting more into the relm of my first fav. Alec Steele!!
Dudd samurai i woukd love to see you or alec make an Adz!
Great video!
Amazing video!!!!!
Nice piece!.
Awesome video, I want that kind of weekend. Brilliant. I vote for a draw knife or an adze.
You need your own signature samurai forged hammer.
You should make an adze. Maybe a timber slick?
Love the t shirt. Kind of funny that you chose to wear that one
"that's what she said" - I laughed out loud.
great vid! So jealous.
A nice drop point for sure
Making an adz would be cool. Also very useful.
spokeshave blade! real simple with two tongs hafted to a nice wooden handle
That was exhilarating!
Man, i wanna pound something into submission once again... The drawbacks of finish carpentry 😉😎.
Forge a plane blade, then finish it with a plane body. Would make a sick video set.
I think a nice chisel to go with your collection
when I go across the border or fly into a job that is outside of Canada I use a carrier like, Fed Ex Express I never had any trouble

Id make shingle froe. First thing I made, tons of uses for it.
The guys at 3:24 just make me think of Brokk and Sindri.
OK I am inspired
Talk about the Norwood video where they put you in your place.
Liam's book is also stuck at the border ,.... Not sold on Kindle in USA
I love music
U should try to make one of your plane blades
Obviously you need to forge a Katana now!!! =D Liam is a bad ass, I have watched all his videos!
old fashion nails and use them in a project
Got to forge a Japanese plane blade or chisel with the ground out back etc.
