Other than family issues, this was the worst night of my life. I really thought this was his time. What a bullshit. Argentina was a strong team when he came in and he failed to score against Brazil multiple times, against Germany twice, against Holland. He had around him: Aguero, Di Maria, Tevez, Riquelme, they also had the likes of Zanetti, Mascherano, Cambiasso, Ayala, Maxi was very good at the time, etc. It was a fine, balanced team, no worse than any other international team. He still flopped in big games.

Messi was in his prime and sadly that's what costed him the back to back copa...overdribling , over thinking...not making timely passes and trying solo moves, because perhaps had more trust on his skills than his teammates.
When he was past his prime, he let go of that (as he cannot do that anymore consistently) and had to trust his teammates who would die for him in the pitch...and he won Copa America & Now world cup.
In past copa America he looked like a shining star amongs bunch of bums who didn't know how to play with him and also didn't have a manager like Scaloni

At 7:14, Messi is immediately surrounded by 5 players, plus 2 defenders up ahead and two strikers running behind him. That is the ENTIRE Chilean team! Their goal was more or less open if Aguero, di Maria, higuain etc. had the skills to JUST run with the ball and shoot. Yet they didn't do anything. Moral of the story: If you're facing Argentina, just mark Messi with 10 men and you will win.
