My husband (who is a pilot) and I walked back up the aisle to this on our wedding day, and never has a moment been more perfect. Our pianist was incredible and it was everything and more than I had imagined xx

My wife walked down the isle to this song back in 2015. Outstanding choice. I’m glad others felt as inspired by this song as we did. What does your husband fly, and who for?

Totally. The way that this traces through how many people dreamed, dedicated, and in some cases gave their lives so that we could not be confined to Earth's surface. And that moment when we finally cracked the code... how quickly we went from there. Think about the fact that the last plane Orville Wright ever got to fly was a Lockheed Constellation. He saw the very first controlled powered flight, all the way up to a transatlantic airliner.

I would drop everything when this ad came on and even rewind the DVR to hear this song until I finally looked it up tonight. In it's entirety the piece is stunning and the video and it's incredibly moving.
The heartbeat sound during the suspension and the background radio chatter in the British Airways ad really add a ton of drama.

We take flying for granted nowadays. We whine about delays, nitpick about onboard service, point out inadequacies. While all important for sure, it has made mundane the experience that, if you think of it, is singularly breathtaking. Humanity's ingenuity, with all our inherent flaws, has made it possible for millions of bits and bobs, of nuts and bolts, to harmoniously sync and break the surly bonds of earth and achieve sustained flight. So each time you experience a delay or receive bad service, take a moment to step back and realize that you are experiencing something that is miraculous.

@knightsoflegion: If you only knew how difficult it is to build and work with a flying machine from this era. I built a reproduction Wright 1902 glider (hull #8) in 2002-03 and exhibited at airshows in the southeast US for a year. Having worked with a machine that behaves, according to the book, as the original did I can't understand what made any of these men think that human flight was possible. And yet, they did. 0:18 - R.I.P. Otto Lilienthal. 08-10-1896 "Sacrifices must be made."

Oh Yes! What the Wrights have wrought! After thousands of years of dreaming of flight, then only 100 years from their achievement to the fastest jets, and less than that to the moon shot! The power of the human mind and will is awesome, and the goosebumps so well-deserved.

I take drone videos and always try to put them to music. A few months ago I did a video of a high end home a friend had built. I was struggling with how to assemble the footage I had taken. While listening to Pandora this song came on and I immediately started to envision the video in my head. In my opinion this is one of the most hauntingly beautiful piano pieces made. It was once said, "Simplicity carried to the extreme becomes elegance."

As we hurl ourselves headlong into the ethereal heavens
We put our trust in the sky
    Never to let us fall
As our brothers and sister compass their hearts
    Across an immeasurable path
We put faith on our wings not to fail
Nor for our power to leave our souls
    And if it be so;
Cushion us, feather-like, back to the loving Earth.

Its been a long road. 17 Dec this year will mark 108 years of powered flight. How we take it for granted. So next time you get on that passenger jet to where ever you are going, just pause for a moment. .....and remember those men and women, those pioneers, engineers, test pilots who forged that road. Marvel at what they achieved. Then walk on, sit down and enjoy your flight.

They tried and tried, oh, how they tried, then finally, man was able to fly. So up to the skies he flew, no earthly bounds could stop him, developing new technology as he went along. But along the way, he discovered that these wonderful things could be used as implements for warfare, and thus man once again was able unleash the devils wrath upon helpless humans and other life forms. There is a message here, I'll leave it to the public to discover what it is. As for the film and music, I found them to be incredibly awesome. My supreme complements to the authors.

@K00lkane: The contraption at 0:32 is the John W. Pitts Skycar. Pitts spent what must have been a tremendous amount of time and money trying in vain to make his idea work. He even went through the trouble of patenting the machine. Even though his design was a failure, we can still admire his tenacity and learn from his efforts.

I thought so too, but whenever I was looking up the quote to make sure I got it right I read this about it:
"This must be the most famous aviation quote that is not a verifiable quote. It is attributed everywhere to da Vinci, but I've never found definitive source information. Neither did some nice folks I talked with at 'National Geographic', who contacted one of the world's leading Leonardo authorities in Italy as part of a long research process and were told that he did not write it."
