your videos have inspired to replay the dark souls series again. also i hope you sarcastically love ds2 with almost all bad runbacks from the series coming from this one.
The thing about the runbacks, is that ds2 is different because they demand respect. In ds1 and 3, all the enemies are lobotomized. In 2 they actually pursue you. The thing is, the bosses in ds2 are actually pretty easy. You shouldn’t need to runback more than 5 times most of the time. You might as well fight all the enemies on your way back since fighting with a little less estus won’t make much of a difference. The only unfortunate exception to this rule is Iron Keep and Reindeer Valley. One of which is optional and has no good loot to worry about anyway.
im playing through this game for the first time now, and I really dont understand the hate, this game kicks ass. I had played every other souls game except this one and I like this one more than ds1, sekiro, and Bloodborne. below ds3 and Elden ring.

This game is mediocre as a standalone game, but dogshit as a souls game.
What a contrived list for the most part. Loosing health is actually better for player in DS2. In DS1 you loose all HP benefit from being human when you die. In DS2 it gradually decline. As for most of others it's just being mad for being different. How dare they put stat somwhere else grrr. Big freaking deal. I even like more enemies aproach since it changes the dynamic, forces you to adapt and see oportunity more holisticly rather than enemy animation X played then attack. All I remember is when I was young and fresh to games like these, I accidently attacked one of those starter geriatrics, and I couldn't get past them for the longest time. Then my weapon broke, and I just turned the console off and walked away.
I still remember, me in full turtle set powerstancing two demon hammers, going to defend the bell tower. Once my prey was in that little room below the starting point, fighting another bell summon, I fell onto him with a mighty double slam killing him outright.
My biggest problem with this game is the animations, so many of them feel so slow and clunky. And even ds1 or demons souls didn’t feel as bad at all, I mean just look at the falcon guys run 😂 but there’s definitely cool stuff in the game, when it works it definitely works

I just watched it and was like cool game. This game looks like fun and never saw a big flaw for a new soulsborne player perspective And after like 4 years I played Bloodborne and it was for free(Ps Plus). Naturally after Bloodborne I touched the other soulsborne games and realised that this game is Dark souls 2. It was like a revelation for me. The biggest mind blow.
In my honest opinion the lost sinner was harder than any boss in dark souls 1, partly due to the camera unlocking and refusing to lock on so much. Although he does have a ton of HP and moves quite fast compared to most bosses in DS1 that can be killed in like 7 hits.
People saying "hmmmm when Charlie says he likes dark souls 2, everyone else suddenly like it hmmm?" really need to get out of their own bubble. Most people love Dark Souls 2 lol it's not a minority opinion to say it's good. There are certainly people who don't like it but they are far and away the small minority compared to people who love it. There hasn't been a sudden shift in consensus, people have always liked it.
@@maxburrill6192No it's because ds2 is an amalgam of leftover assets and other problems the original director leaving the project caused. It is impressive that tanimura and his team managed to pull off what they did but that doesn't change how fundamentally stupid unlimited lifegems, a shit flask, agility/adp, a gorillion enemies and how inconsistent hitboxes are depending on the specific enemy is/are. There's more i could point out but the game isn't criticized for no reeason even if some people go a bit too far and say the game is an irreedeemable pile of shit.
No, its just that FromSoft is bigger now than it was when DS2 released. Which means more fanboys will blindly love it, because they see it as a FromSoft game and give it a LOT of leniency. People saying stuff like this never have any arguments other than "I just dont think its bad" or "It was my XYZ Souls game, and its special to me". Meanwhile people that dont like it could make entire video essays explaining whats wrong with it, how it connects to the other Souls games, how its exclusive to DS2, how it could be improved and made more like the other games, and so on. Yet, emotional people will still sit here and say "Erm, no, it was always good". I just think that a lot of people who enjoy liking things other people hate, flocked onto the DS2 bandwagon after DS3 and Elden Ring, beat DS2 because its a janky, garbage, braindead game, and think their some enlightened individual because they finished "The Bad One", and didnt hate it. You like the shittiest game in the Souls series, big deal. It doesnt make DS2 any less bad than it is. It doesnt make all the glaring issues go away. First souls game. So it’s my favorite. It’s what made me love the franchise
I will never hate ds2 this game made me fall in love with the soul genre.
It's mostly just because DS2 haters are really loud about how the game killed their whole family or whatever.
@@Distophicelden ring arguably has more enemies and the game is much harder than ds2, honestly ds2 is more fun than ds1 or ds3 in my opinion
Pretending like "everyone has always loved it" doesnt make it true. I dont know why you people want DS2 to be a masterpiece so bad. Its genuinely so weird, and I cant help but find it really funny.
@@nik-challengeman383 I have played both, and youre talking out of your ass lol. Not about DS2 being more fun, I dont care about that, but Elden Ring does not have more enemies. Not even "arguably" (What a funny thing to try and say is "arguable" lol. Quantity)
Peak game and i refuse to eleborate about how and why is it
frigid outskirts
U don't need to
Gassing up mid 😂
i feel like sunken temple is the most underrated dlc in the series
@@nickzanoni582Yeah people always gas the bosses of a dlc. However, Shulva's design was something special. I liked the whole theme with traps, ghosts, the music in the temple, and the dragon flying through the city. It is actually my favourite dlc from the game. Brume tower second, because that is also a special design. Loyce is a castle which we have all seen before
My favorite game of the franchise!
I love playing with a dark build
I love it too man…
If this got some kind of huge fan patch/overhaul that fixed the major issues and upped the graphics I could see it being the best From game
Agreed. Get rid of that long estus/loot animation and Agility mechanism.
@@paralyzer2304 definitely want a set agility so i frames are consistent throughout. also not sure how tough it would be to program but tightening the character hitbox would reduce the clunk factor I feel when playing
Bearer of the Curse edition mod does that
@@connors9597 I still think agility was a perfectly fine mechanic, it let people who wanted to play a dodge roll god have a stat to invest in, but otherwise DS2 was much more about repositioning and skirting around enemy ranges than it ever was about dodging.
It helps if you think of ds2 as not a dark souls game.
@@Aeivious I play a spellsword build with no shield which means dodging is the only means of defense but I get what you mean. But my main grievance is having to pump up adp to 20 immediately in order to have good rolls at the start
Bro you make this look so easy😭😭😭😭😭
1:34:01 you might even call him a sudo-woodo, right right?
I used to rock a loop of Evanescences Bring me to life, from SwaySsounds
was the best gaming experience ever
I mean I haven't even played it so I can't hate it.
But whenever I do start the soul's series I'll just play all three.
2:47:47 -6000 I guess he never picks them back up.
2:54:46 and now they are truely gone.
3:08:59 that was way more painful though that's like -16000
