    This is a beautiful dress and I just love it. I'm a beginner too. I was wondering why fasten off at the waist? Instead of chaining into a circle to begin the skirt part?
    Also, will the 12mon. Fit a small 2 year old? My granddaughter will be 2 in August and she has a small frame.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  Год назад

      Does the 2 yr old still were size 12 month clothes? On the written pattern there is also an 18 month and 24 month size. We keep the skirt split for a while so that you can use a button closure. This helps with sizing because you can place the button at different places (or add more than one button) to make the top of the skirt tighter.

    Hi! I’m hoping you’ll see this; I’m a beginner but between your video tutorial and your written pattern I’m really happy with how this dress has turned out so far! I’m making it for my 2 year old but I’m stuck on row 15, the pattern says after row 15 to ch 2 and turn which means I wouldn’t dc to close the back?

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  4 года назад +1

      I am so glad you are enjoying the pattern. We will not close up the back until the end of row 16. Then you will use a button to close the top of the dress skirt. If you don't want to use a button you could start slip stitching to the first stitch in an earlier row.

      So there are 8 rows worked in the video, but looking that the pattern, Row 8 is the row where we start a new chain and continue one. Since stitch count is important I would Fasten off and make the chain at row 8. Written pattern is here: www.windingroadcrochet.com/puff-stitch-crochet-toddler-dress-pattern/

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  4 года назад +2

      It is tricky sizing up that far. You can increase the hook size but eventually you will start getting big gaps between stitches. Maybe try a size 5 yarn and a larger hook. Make it through row 9 and then check that the top covers the child and that the waist makes it around the child's waist.

    Hi! Im kinda stuck. Cos from the written and video I understand that it will be 25DC before we fo. Then with the ch 24 2dc 23dc 2dc in last stitch only add up to 27dc. But the next row will be like from 3ch 1dc 23dc (24dc) and we reach the middle part before the other ch 24. But I only have 27dc instead of 28dc. Im so confused now. Cos it shd be 24 + 28 + 24 = 76
    But from 25dc increase is only 27dc. For my first attempt I thought I did wrongly and frog the whole thing and start over. It is still the same. Kindly advise and clarify. TIA.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  4 года назад +1

      I am reading through the pattern and you are correct. You will have 27 DC in the middle. I attempted to correct the pattern to accommodate the error, but I believe doing so will cause more errors. What I would do is just make an increase in the very last stitch of the row you are working. That will correct the stitch count and you will be able to continue the pattern.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  4 года назад +1

      I have had the larger sizes asked for quite a bit. The best way to do this is to use a larger hook and maybe a size 5 yarn. At that point you will need to work a few different sizes, just the first 2-3 rows and then compare them to the child's front torso to make sure it covers them. If it does, then continue with the pattern and then check again when you get to about row 10, though you may need to work in a few extra rows to add length to the torso. It will just be a bit of trial and error to find the right combination of hook and yarn size.

      For the stitch count it says (DC 82). So when you are counting your stitch count for row 11, only count the double crochets. With all the different stitches, counting gets confusing. That is why I am only having us count the double crochets.

    After row 7 for 18 month olds, there are 27 sts. And then 2 sts are added on row 8, which is 29. And how did it become 30 at row 9? Did I miss something or misunderstood something? Thanks.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  3 года назад

      No it is an error in the pattern. I could fix it, but it would mean redoing the entire pattern and opens up room for more errors to occur. So what I recommend doing is to just add an extra DC to make it 30 in row 9 or add an extra DC in row 10 to make sure that it is 82 DC in row 10. The stitch count is very important when we start the skirt.

      There are a few things that you can do. First look at the pattern to see if it helps at all. Sometimes it may provide a stitch count or something that you missed in the video. Take the dress step by step, most of this is simply repeating the same rows. Stop the video and rewatch a section until you understand it and of course ask any questions in the comments.

      Also turn on the subtitles, sometimes I explain what I am about to do then speed up the video while doing it, for example I may simple double crochet in each stitch across.

    For row 12 I got seven double crochets for the start, does that matter

      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 года назад

      Yes it will matter. You will want to make sure your stitch count is correct before you start the skirt.

      Hi I am not sure exactly what you are asking. The pattern goes up to size 24 months. If I was to take a guess you will start with a chain of 24 but there are no row counts for size 36 months.

    You didn't specify as to how many grams the skeins are so that we know how much yarn we would need? Please...

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  Год назад

      The yarn used comes in a set that is a total of 7 ozs. The smallest size is took 1 skein (7 oz) and the two larges sizes took 2 skeins (14 oz). There was 5 colors per set so in a each color in the skein was 1.4 ozs.

    How many stitch require for seven years old girl?

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  4 года назад

      I am afraid I have not calculated the sizes that large. What i have recommended in the past is that you use a size 5 yarn and a larger hook, but you will still need to experiment with what size to crochet to make it fit.

      You can try using a larger hook or a larger yarn or both. I have just finished a new dress that looks very similar to this one that has sizes 12 months to size 8. You can check it out here: www.windingroadcrochet.com/tulip-crochet-dress-free-pattern/
