We were just there this past weekend. First...don't go in June like we did. The corn haven't grown yet. So they have a fence around it saying, "Keep out of corn". The Corn stock makes up a good chunk of it's beauty. It's not the same w/o it. 2nd, we picked the first weekend where students are out of school. The place was packed. Kids running everywhere. Dads teaching their kids how to pitch, etc. It was still fun and iconic though.
Thanks, it was on my list too. You need to go check it out. I wanted to see it for years and finally went before they started developing the complex next to it (I think that starts next year). I was told the movie location would remain as it is but I'm guessing the overall look and feel just won't be the same. I wish the corn was higher when I was there, but I'm really glad I finally got to go and see it. Very cool!
was there shortly after the movie was made.. i signed my name on three baseballs and tossed them out into the field .. . costner s dad looked like my uncle.. who more or less replaced dad after the war..
The music in this movie plays a major part , never here anyone talk about >> James Horner (1989) - Universal Pictures Film Music >>would be interesting how he decided on the music
beautiful, even on a cloudy day. 1. I don't see dugouts. I see bleachers for fans but no dugout on the first base side. does anyone remember if there was a first base dugout in the movie . 2. when they played a game, what were the ground rules for batted balls that entered the corn field? entered cornfield on the fly - homerun? rolls or bounces in - ground rule double?
This is the only thing on my bucket list. I lead a simple life and don't want much. But to visit this site would be truly amazing.
