With no new packaged 126 format film, 126 format shooters have been relying on using the Fakmatic 35mm to 126 adapter in order to shoot with their 126 cameras. While 35mm film loaded into a Fakmatic adapter works for some cameras (like the Kodak X-15), the sprockets on 35mm film do not allow all 126 cameras to be used (35mm film jams in certain camera models).
The Film Photography Project (FPP) has been working on a solution, hand-perking film with proper 126 perforations. This film will be usable in all 126 cameras including the Rollei SL26, Kodak Instamatic 100 series, Keystone and all cameras that jammed up when using traditional 35mm film.
Available now in single, rolls in BW and color. This film does still require the photographer to load the film themselves in the FAK adapter or vintage cassette (in the dark room or film changing bag).
Years in the making! The 126 saga continues...
This is awesome! 126 film is now officially making a comeback thanks to you guys!
Seeing the 100 wind on perfectly is fantastic
No need for the little stopper, yay! I’m psyched for you guys. It’s really happening! 🎉❤ just ordered 3 rolls. Thank you so very much for doing this!
Instamatic 100 series - no need for the "stopper". In my Instamatic 500, I still use the stopper. - Mike
Simply awesome, kudos 🙏🏻🖖🏻
Absolutely brilliant well done Mike and FPP
You guys are incredible
Makes me want to try 126 now!
If I remember correctly, you can load Black and White film under the appropriate safelight without fogging it. As for color film, if you have access to a night vision scope. You can use the NVG to look at what is going on when loading the film with the IR light source of the optic. Now IR sensitive films are no longer available to the general public but those could not be loaded with an IR light source, it was total darkness. White cotton lint free gloves and a lot of practice.
I wonder if this film will be available for our Bulk film loaders in 100 foot lengths like in the past. What really sucks is that the AG1 flash bulbs are no longer available. They went by the wayside when the first generation Flashcube was released to the public. Quite convenient, 4 AG1 bulbs in one container. I wonder if Sylvania still has the formula and plans for the bulbs and flash cubes.
Only orthochromatic film can be loaded under a red safelight.
Way to go, guys.
Think I had one of those cameras. I'm old. Yeeah!
You guys re the best!
"Butter!" -- dang it, now I am hungry!
Just got my FakMactic a few days ago. Nice solution. 🙂
Mmmkay...definitely a consideration for my Charlie Tuna camera. 🤔
My Zeiss ikon 126 is happy
Oh hey! Now I have an excuse/a way to try out this Ricoh 126C-flex.
Just 2 weeks ago I wondered, how many people still convert regular 35mm or 120/MF rollfilm to feed their old 16mm/8mm/Super8 or e.g. Minox cameras.
So great! I can finally shoot my old Mickey Mouse camera!
The instamatic 100 was my childhood camera, and I must say I have no nostalgia about it...this era is definitely puzzling...
awesome new, I could now use my kodak 104
Amazing .. now can yall work on getting pack film back in production?
Do you guys plan on making some preloaded cartridges in the future, Possibly with backing paper?
also this is awesome to see the actual full square frame being possible again.
We do not have the gear to package 126 in cartridge with backing paper.
Halla freakin looya! Ordering…
Michael, now that you can get 35mm perfed for 126, why not get them to perf 110? Both 110 and 126 could be continuously perfed end to end in 100 foot rolls and sold in bulk, as well. Terry
Hi Terry. There's no "them" - it's just us doing all the work by hand. No other options at this time. It'll be a grand day if we can find an actual film factory to make 126. Lomography has 110 film well under control. - Mike
Out of stock is encouraging, suggesting a market for the film. Will you restock soon? Looking forward to buying some.
We'll be restocking bw and adding color (hopefully next week) - Mike
So exciting! Any idea when color will be available?
Very soon! - Mike
Is the fakmatic cartridge not light tight against the camera's film gate?
In any event, I've recently been looking over the old Instamatic cams in my collection and hoping there'd be a way to use them. I last shot 126 before Ferrania went bust (I've been hoping that new Ferrania had the tooling for the cartridges, but I expect they didn't save it).
I tested both the fakmatic as well as vintage re-loaded cartridges. Both have light leaks when shooting in blazing sun. On the vintage cassettes, the seal is cracked and the fakmatic is in two pieces - both allowing light to seep in. Best to tape the film compartment on your camera. 👍
Can the 126 film be developed on classic Paterson reels? Awesome work!
Yes! It is the same width as 35mm
I think so. Seem to recall these old Patterson reels could be used for any common film types back in the day.
Why can't they just bring back the 126 cartridge and camera? They were so EASY and took nice pictures.
We suspect that film manufacturers (like Kodak, Fuji) scanned their 126 machinary. - Mike
I suspect the answer is because almost everyone has a mobile phone camera. Even for folks who are into film cameras, they are probably only interested in 135 or 120. So, very little market for 126?
Too vague…do I need to do that task in complete darkness?
I'd chuckle (if you were funny) - Mike
@@FilmPhotographyProject All with love, brother.
We’re one step closer. I’m disappointed that Lomography has reintroduced 126 film.
I'm sure Lomography would if they could (probably don't have the machinery)
As i remember, the 100 photos were not very good.
They're snapshots - nothing more, nothing less. Not better or worse quality that any modern plastic camera like the new Kodak m35 or H35. If anything better, with its glass lens (the Kodak Instamatic 100).
@FilmPhotographyProject I'm sure you're right. I've never used any of the cameras you mentioned, so I don't realy know.
Now if they could do something for my Rolei 16. LOL
