First RIDE Riders...what a beast!
For Street Safety they should add a Fingerprint sensor, so you can enter the code with dirty hands in the wild on the tough touchscreen, BUT, on a street, in the city, where people can see the Pass-Code, please add the fingerprint sensor, for "easy" security and access ...
@@Narinjas I mean, you can just cover the screen with the other hand, if there's people arround.
🙌 Sam!!!! What an epic ride! First time with the beast on the trails!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely love it. Will wait for it!!
With so many new bikes coming out, this is one that really stands out for me. There are so many capable bikes these days, but by and large, they mostly share the same drive unit offerings. Coming out with something completely unique can present its own unique challenges, but it can most certainly pique curiosity and for me, it definitely has. Thanks for the review!
Totally agree with you this bike and motor is very unique
Nice one Sam.
Very interesting and cool bike.
Looking forward to an in-depth review
Thanks Ian
Looking forward to the opportunity to acquire one. Thanks for sharing homie, you rock.
Any time thanks for the kind words
Super interesting video! Top fresh content as always. Mate that bike looks pretty much like I want to be my future own ebike 😅
It’s so good mate and in a few weeks you can test it in Madrid
Thanx Sam! Was hoping for a an early testride/POV review and you really delivered. Probably my next bike!
Glad I could help mate full review coming soon
Well done Sam for blagging the hot new ride!
Thanks Legend I was very lucky to
Tested the bike..
Loved the new motor.
The AUTO mode works flawlessly just about delivering right amount of power and torque
Yep it’s amazing
Aussie legend show the Euros how we do it! Legend Sam
Haha thanks mate mental week but we got it done
Thanks for the short review. Very interested on purchase
Glad it was helpful!
Looks a fantastic system.
What interests me most at the moment is the pinion system.
I love the idea of no mech/cassette etc.
We'll see how it goes.
Both are super interesting
Owuru cvt
Sounds like a promising system, definitely good for the market. Though with all that power a 170 - 180 mm travel bike would be amazing, I've never felt over biked climbing with that extra 20mm but it's waaay more fun on gnarly tracks. Relatively light ebike with long travel and range is the money shot
Agree. I race motocross as well. With a e mtb give it more suspension- not like your hauling it/extra weight up a hill self powered.
Yep I’m sure the next bike will be a long travel version
dji Avinox bike 기대됩니다. 멋진 라이딩입니다.
Great review… tell them to build a 170mm version and they can have my money 🤘🏼
That would be cool!
Pretty excited about the full dji setup. Seems they really nailed all elements.
Would like to see a longer travel bike option though.
Yep I can’t wait to have it home and really set it up! Yes a longer travel would be nice as well
It's about time we've started getting awesome options like this from 3rd party companies, long have Bosch and Shimano had the monopoly on the market with motors, can't wait to grab another emtb, hopefully they make it to Australia soon, I wonder if the modes are configurable like the other options.
Also wonder if it'll be a similar sale point like the drones, where it's a direct to consumer or if bike shops will be in the uptake.
Keep up the great reviews Sam, 👌
Thanks for your comment mate yes it’s great to see another player in the industry it will definitely shake things up. I’m not sure how they will sell the bike so only time we’ll tell.
It was fun to ride with you Sam! See ya 👍🏻
And you to mate
My dream is a collaboration between pinion and dji; excellent compact motor performance, ease of use and customization of software, and well established supply chain, combined with one of the best transmissions with that renowned liability... I'd buy in a heartbeat.😊
Was a pleasure shredding with you 🚀🤩
You to brother and wow you ride good!
Wait till you ride with me.
Lucky Man, thank you!
Your welcome
@@SamsBikes 🤗
The industry needs shaking up- the prices are ridiculous high. I just took delivery of a Stark Varg- full motocross at 12,900 us $. My mtb is a Levo turbo comp carbon- 6,900 us $ on sale- great bike, lots of fun. 700wh battery vs 6.5 kWh. Yes I understand economics. I think post Covid the consumer bent over for the industry- the pendulum is demanding lower prices and more bang for the buck. The DJI entry is good news.
Yep it’s great there is a new player and the pricing is still not confirmed ✅
What’s the Stark Varg like?
Dji said 9-12k € so…
@@bethonos hoping , specialized has had their bikes on sale forever, canyon as well. Motorcycles and mtbs are not moving, dealers are sitting on and having to sale price to move. I think this is happening now and will play out over next couple years. You are seeing it in the auto industry as well.
@@robbief1 Only 1 day of track riding and like it so far. I brought my 450 - it stayed on the trailer. Still learning it, adjusting suspension, but handling is fun and power instant. After 1 day I can tell I will only want to ride the Stark.
Thanks mate 👍 👌
You are welcome
@@SamsBikes waiting for your review when you get 1 home 😀
Thank you Sam. Great looking bike, just hope the liability will be as great, otherwise it is a game changer.
Thanks mate sweet ebike in sure DJI are on top of it all!
Do you mean REliability or is there something about liability we're missing.
Best looking Trail Bike, the power alone u get esp with a 800 wh battery is amazing, might be my next bike, if I can get one in the States USA
It’s pretty rad bike
Hi Sam.The more I see of this bike the more impressive it seems to be.I will be following reviews with baited breath and maybe I will start saving now.
Hey Terry thanks mate, it’s a very impressive bike
Really does look like a nice combination, need to see where they gonna be sold near me and test it.
Let’s see more details to come
👍Nice to have the possibilities to change the Over Run as on the new uppdated EP801, when It's so lots of power in the motor😊.
To djump between my diffrent bikes 35Nm, 60Nm and 85Nm you have to remember witch bike you have between your legs😂
Very true!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks
Great video Sam I am in Melbourne Victoria so as soon as they are fir sale in Europe I will be lookibg to get on shipped to Australia.Sam maybe you could consider helping us Aussies get some of these to Australia????
That’s a great idea send me a private message on instagram and we can chat
Hi Sam. Thank you for this. At the end of the day this is mountain biking. How the bike rides is more important than power and battery. It sounds like the frame is too stiff and it doesn't ride as good as levo and heckler? I'd rather have less power and a better riding bike. Thats just my 2 cents. Thank you, enjoy your channel.
Thanks for your comment, I totally agree the ride is more important that the power I felt the bike really good but it was only 1.5 hours I’ll need more time and set it up
Will they have an aluminum bike ? Carbon not good on the west coast of Canada , at least on the trails I ride on Vancouver island . With all that torque are you not going to go through a lot of drivetrains ? I am riding a old 2016 Levo and besides changing chain and brake pads and 6 sets of cranks I am still on the original cassette . Never use turbo only trail mode and bike has all the power I need .
I don’t think so for now
I mean for a new toy this sounds really great, if they come out, I wondering if they can give a good service.
🚀 🚀
Thanks
this is going to shake up the industry
I feel so
Hi Sam, great review, answered a lot of questions 👍🏻. Will the top Pro model be available in frameset only like S-works Levo/SL?. Also I’ve heard elsewhere about the clunking noise from the motor on the downs. Apparently Amflow are aware of this but will/are they going to fix it? Good work 💪
Thanks mate I don’t think it will be sold as a frame kit but I’m not 100% sure. I feel there was some clunking but I really need to do more deep testing on my own bike after I have it all set up for me.
@@SamsBikesThanks for your reply, keep up the great work 👌🏻
Testing together with Toffer!👍
Yep he’s a legend
There's a new Bosch motor just around the corner. I wonder if they will be competitive or left behind.
Let’s see it will be interesting
Well it should be a lot cheaper
@@africola5270 Why?
I think of the new releases the ZF stands out more than the DJI.
If I was paying for one I’d still go Bosch or similar from a reliability perspective and without a large single point of failure.
I rode both I think I rather the DJI but need more time on both
I am interested in what is the difference between this and Bafang m620 in power regard..I know the bafang is twice as heavy, but 160Nm...
Let’s see
For me the Valeo MGU was the nicest bike to ride from Fuell. Schwalbe new valve was interesting and worth a purchase when available. Ferodo new rotors and brake pads look like a product worth testing. Pinion MGU software for auto change worked well on the flat not sure how good it would be on the trails. Finally quad lock are limited to the late iphones and Samsungs cases shame but with so many differing phone form factors is really needs a flexible mount to cater for more phones.
Thanks for sharing!
@@SamsBikes when will you be testing the valeo?
Really love the touchscreen and silence of the motor. Are you able to tell us if other partners are releasing DJI system bikes soon?
Yep it’s a sweet very well thought bike, I have no idea who they have partnered with
As a recent convert to the lighter motored eMTBs this seems excessive on the power. The potential for additional competition is good to bring down prices. Hope they eventually bring out a "lighter", smooth natural power delivery setup.
goos point but the DJI is super smooth and you don't need to use all that power if you don't want to
Are they going to supply other brands with motors, batteries and management systems?
I think 100% yes
This is definitely my next ebike lol. Gotta sell my Trek Fuel EXe
Haha 🤣 yep it’s a beast of an ebike
We need to suggest AUX ports for external lights feed by ebike battery.
That’s a good point
@@SamsBikes we already have an output for a headlight at the screen 💡✅
I can see why you are hooked !!!!
I dig it, but it looks like eMtb is starting to become ridiculously too powerful. I definitely like the direction this motor is going though. I’ll be in the lower power settings on this motor to get it to my ride style, on like all current motors today. It’s very reassuring I have the power to tap in to when I need it.
Maybe kinda like a fast car you don’t need to ride it fast but you have it if you want to
I deff would go for the basic model, since i already own 2 ebikes with shimano ep8, but shimano lacks of firmware, tecnical support & supply on demant. You cant find parts online or a ep801.
Good call both are pretty rad
Great video as always ! Is it possible to adjust the overrun to a minimum to make it feel as natural as the first Orbea Rise ?
Yes, absolutely in each mode
@@SamsBikes oh that sounds kind of perfect to me. I prefer a natural feeling on a ebike. If dji would develop a 80nm drivetrain for light emtb‘s that could be next level…
Can they say if any other brands have interest in using the dji motor?
I think there are a lot of brands interested but let’s see
It’s so strange to watch you ride my home trails.
Haha 🤣 mate those snipper roots were trying to kill me
Does it have a thumb throttle or just pedal assist, cadence or torque sensor?
It’s pedal assist
This bike is going dawn in the next era of eebs i reckon
I feel your right
Question; Being a touch screen, how will it go in the rain? As we all know how it's hard to use our smartphones with rain pouring on the screen.
I’ve seen tests with it wet and it seems to work fine.
It seems to work fine it raining on our ride
Sam will it be available in the UK ? Do you know ? Although it will be a while before I sell my Trek Fuel EXe 😅
Yes DJI will release it later this year
👍If it was a motocross bike, it would be a 500cc two stroke😊.
This is a Bauty beast, witch have everything perfect, witch I prefer with a TQ engine and a 400wh battery😉
Well said!
which vs witch
Bam bam bam rapid succession
Haha thanks
Now we need the drone for a third person POV
haha i know
How long do you think a cassette will last on this one?
Let’s see in my long term test
This isn't a game changer it doesn't have a gearbox, I think everyone is geeking out with120nm but 85nm is more than enough for me I'm more interested in reliability, serviceability and warranty. Until a recognised manufacturer adopts this motor I think it's just another motor in a very saturated market
Hmmm, I think you might be wrong...because this system offers what people wanted forever from the start: a light powerful motor, plenty of battery capacity and so many software features...
Its a Bike, We are ATLEAST 10 years from meaningful gearbox.
The Issue currently is how easy a derailleur still is, you can swap parts easily if you want different things and its easily swappable between bikes...
a gearbox or MGU is a pure eco system stuck with 1 bike & is still belt driven which has a heap of drag.
The DJI system is increasing power and range.
Game changer comes in the way of form factor, power & range. which the DJI has.
Gearbox is a game changer on it's own, but what this bike brings to the table complies with what many emtb riders are looking for. Every emtb rider I've spoken with would like a minimum 4 year warranty for the motor and all electronics and in all honesty, that's what they should come with. My grandfather's drill press, 12" table saw and bench grinder are still running strong and they were built in the 60/70s. One day many, if not all emtbs will come with a fully serviceable gearbox, but for now weight, range, tunability, reliability and serviceability are all on the forefront of most new buyers minds and this bike from DJI addresses some of those concerns. Cheers
I agree!
This is all well and good BUT WHAT IS IT LIKE GOING DOWN A HILL???
Let’s see I get mine in 2 weeks
@@SamsBikes Awesome, cant wait!
1:28 Hi Sam, where can i get exactly this T-shirt. Unfortunately it's not available in the store. 🤔
Mate I wish I could sell this jersey but it’s custom made one which cost 70€ and really didn’t think people would pay that! Maybe I’ll ask the riders to make a pre order if they want one ☝️ I’m thinking your a 90s BMXer if so my next jersey is even cooler
Availability in USA? With our speed limit?
Yes available in the USA with your legal speed limit
Love it😮it’s amazing, when can I buy it?
I think October
I'm guessing that if you don't ride for 10 days, the battery will drop charge to 40% ?
Not sure will need to check on that
@@SamsBikes Sorry, but it's a bone of contention with me that every time I go to use my DJI drone, the batteries have discharged themselves. Probably not relevant to e-bikes, but that is the one thing about DJI that pisses me off,. It's supposedly done to extend the life of the batteries, but that's no use if I can never use the bloody thing on a whim or when something interesting suddenly happens. I would prefer to choose that option or not. If they have done that to the bikes, that will grind a lot of gears.
Need 180mm Front and Rear or close to it. Would be great to have a full fat Kenevo competitor with the excellent battery options and power output.
100% agree
looks great, guess the specialised are in the backseat now.
Let’s see
Are you using the External DJI mic only when riding and not using the Camera's mic? just curious how the sound of the trail/bike is quiet and the talk is louder?
I’m sure DJI mics for riding and talking it’s my same set up as always
@@SamsBikes do you use the POV camera audio at all?
They should build a gravel with this stack of motor and battery
I'm sure they have thought about it.
During the section labeled, how loud is it? You never stopped talking.
Sorry 😞 I’ll do better in the long term review it was a mental week of work
What if you could sync your drone to the bike for action follow mode???? Boom.
Wow 🤯 great idea
What is the price of these?
DJI are not sure yet but should be around 7-12
Still going to hit the limiter coming into a jump line through
That's why I still prefer my class 3 ep801 over anything currently available or any of the so called new tech...
Imagine how many would sell if it mounted in place of the ep…
Wow that’s an interesting idea
Where and what’s the name of that trail? Great info video
Thanks mate I’m not sure of the trail it’s in Frankfurt
@@SamsBikes I was asking, since I just move to a Frankfurt and don’t no much about the area yet. Great video!
9:05 "Tosser"? LOL
does anyone have a download link for the DJI Avinox app?
I don’t think it’s ready for DL to the public yet
@@SamsBikes sounds like I need an influencer that is willing to leak it. =]
GREAT VIDEO :) It's a shame because this bike and this system represent the best of both worlds in the world of EMTBs, but the fact that it has a 1000-watt peak power motor means that this bike will not be allowed in America and several European countries. I don't think so much power is necessary: at most, Rocky Mountain's Dyname 3.0 and 4.0 motor is close to the maximum and is quite sufficient, and it is legal practically everywhere. The bike centers have made good progress to open their mind to allow EMTB's on their trails, this bike will again, question this progress, will see. So, i would change nothing except, lower the power to 500-750W.
Hey mate thanks 🙏 yes it’s a little confusing but it had a 250w motor which can deliver 1000w of peak power it’s totally legal in all countries I believe
The Avinox Drive System offers two battery options-600W and 800W... \m/
The Avinox Drive System features four riding assist modes: Auto, Eco, Trail, and Turbo, and a special Boost mode can be quickly activated for more challenging terrain. In Boost mode, riders can enjoy a max 30 seconds of 120N·m drive torque and an instantaneous max output of 1000 W, allowing for easier handling of complex conditions.
This is a ebike channel you might be in the wrong place
Great looking bike, shame it'll cost an arm and a leg.
I feel for what your getting its very well priced
Is there Pricing on this yet?
Not yet all I can say it’s going 5-6 for the entry and 8-10 for the pro
@@SamsBikes cheers mate 😎
What is overrun?
When the motor continues when you stop pedaling
what is the max speed?
25km
When is the bike available. You mentioned yours is coming on August. Website has a subscribe bottom with no more info. Give me your connections 😂
haha it will be later in the year
Frame only option?
Unfortunately not in Europe because of Regulations 🥲
I don’t think so
That downtube looks like a SL. 😳 Now, impress me with the price or it’s pointless.
Yep it’s a crazy looking bike for a 800wh battery
Where can I put a down payment in order?
I don’t think DJI are taking orders yet
Entry level 10K 💀
Around $6k he stated, entry level - Pushing $10k and above for Pro Models.... \m/
6-7 entry and Around 10 for the pro
How much with the bike be ?
Starting 6-7k for the entry level and around 10 for the one I was riding
To be legally classed as an EAPC and therefore be legal under UK e-bike laws, the maximum power output from the pedal-assist motor can't be more than 250 watts.
Yep correct this is a 250w motor with 1000watts of peak power so it’s 💯 legal
My brose 2.2 motor delivers 780W and goes down to 725W constant in turbo so 1000W helps but it's not amazing :)
That’s very true, I’m definitely going to do back to back testing
@@SamsBikes I'm curious how 90nm feels compared to 105/120nm - 90nm at 780w vs 120nm at 1000 +-10 probably depending on temperature, the differences will probably be noticeable on DJI for heavier users. But I agree on the noise vs. smoothness, it seems to be similar in turbo mode and indeed the motor market had plateaued and they came up with something completely new and seemingly good, let's see how the after-sales support will be.
Over 20% better is huge progression
Isn't the peak 565W & 90Nm for turbo Levo ? I was hoping this DGI would have substantially higher outputs than Specialized, but if your figures are correct then it's not that much.
@@robrider838 huge not really good yes motivates the rest to improve.
Can it be chipped ?? Stop it cutting out at 15mph
I don’t think so
Price?
to be confirmed but should start from 6-7 and pro model around 10k
sry but pignon should be the future... mech/casette the most broken part of a bike XD
My question is : does it have the 25km speed limit?
Yes
We need Pinion to team up with them.
That could be interesting
Any new motor that comes out without an integrated gearbox to get rid of the deraileur is DOA
Maybe
FYI its 10th gen of dji motor :D
How do you know ?
