- In this video my gopro 9 camera sinks to the bottom of a river , still attached to a tripod , can we get it back

So it’s not just me, what a relief !!! Sorry for your loss, so frustrating when you know it’s there, I think I’d have had to get in the canal !!
i was advised not to go in due to the undercurrent on that day although i was tempted , very frustrating yes but totally my fault due to carelessness i suppose , just a shame , thanks for watching the video and commenting

Try wearing Polaroid sunglasses to reduce the glare? Alternatively get a glass bottomed boat, or adapt a bucket: might be able to see the bottom more clearly.
never thought of the sunglasses actually 👍 you mean like one of those boxes with a glass bottom , could try that yes but the bottom ( 3 M ) was very black covered by reeds , thanks for your ideas and thanks for watching the video
Glad you didn't go in the water, those reeds & the current looked dangerous, a CAMERA can be replaced!!

What an awful thing to happen, very frustrating. I see your efforts to get it back with the garden rake were unsuccessful. Maybe something with more like grappling hooks would be better at catching hold of one of the tripod legs. It might be a good idea to widen your search a bit, the undercurrent might have moved it. Good luck with your search, I hope you finally get it back. Take care.

thanks ian & angie yes it was a bit of a bad day we were there most of the day throwing that rake , definitely agree with the undercurrent, although the river looked peaceful , underneath was a strong current , will try other methods next week , thanks for watching and commenting

I forget to mention this bit, it could be worthwhile wearing a pair of polarised sunglasses, it might help to take the glare off the top of the water.

Bugger it, worse things happen at sea they say and you were nearly there (wet and deep), it is such a shame but to get the 'shot' have to go to extremes. Take care, stay safe and dry

Feeling your pain! Have to say I wouldn’t be getting in the river under any circumstances. Losing the Go Pro is bad enough. Losing the cameraman is so much worse! Stay safe and phone your insurance man. Sorry for your loss mate. Cheers Dave & Helen

Oh no, hope you manage to retrieve it, better chance with the tripod attached I s’ pose but still quite a large area to search and those pesky reeds won’t help. How deep/clear is it? Would you see anything if you just dipped your head in wearing googles?! I don’t know the water quality whether safe or not. I certainly wouldn’t venture right in, too risky!
it was much deeper than we thought sue and almost black at the bottom under the reeds , someone on a narrow boat advised not to go in on that particular day cos of the undercurrent but on good calm days it’s pretty clear , typical tho eh ! just unlucky and carelessness by me

Such a shame you couldn't snag it. I was shouting "get in there" but it did look cold. Is the tripod made of aluminium or steel? Magnet fishing maybe?
hi ads yeah cold and an undercurrent, what an idiot i am , less than 2 seconds and gone , tripod aluminium unfortunately, an expensive lesson learnt !

Extending decorating pole attached to rake? B & Q do one that extends to 3metres. Might give you more control over the rake. Hope you manage to find it. Take care.

Bloody hell Mike! I’m gutted for you, I’ve just bought a brand new camera as we’re stepping up from just phones and it’s not cheap is it? Such a shame I bet that lost footage was easy a 30k view job as well 😂
oh cool what camera did you get ? yeah gutted what a total idiot it was gone in less than 2 secs , my fault totally , haha yeah a 30k view vlog in the first hour i was hoping 😂 got seriously trolled for this video though , more than my usual
@@TheFrenchiesMotorhomechannel we got the DJI Osmo Action which is virtually the same as the GoPro, trolls commenting make me laugh I don’t give a 💩 lol it’s all interaction for the RUclips analytics

Can you borrow another GoPro 9 to film under the water, watch the footage and see if you see it?
possibly yes on a better day maybe , it was just too dark under there especially under the reeds
Have you tried a metal detector if it goes through of earth it might located through the water
