  • In this part of our Nakamichi CR-7 restoration series, we're diving into the nitty-gritty of the deck's mechanisms. We'll lubricate the capstan bearings, replace the pinch rollers, and expertly dismantle and reinstall the heads. To ensure a perfect tape path, we'll be using the GS-300 gauge. Very nice video of pinch rollercreplacement.I was surprised yp see the importance of left side white plastic nut for adjusting the mechsnism .I had disturbed this in my NAK DR 2 and the door just moved up snd I was not abke to ooennit.Anyhow I coukd opennit but the two plastic hokders of the door got broken ,which I could set and fix properly with a glue .This is tge only video I saw of CR 7 from you .Others I am going to watch .😢

Hi there, thanks. I should receive the Dragon in a few days. Let me discuss with the CR-7 owner if he would agree me to keep this nice deck for a few days more.

Check the comments. Every time I install these pinch rollers I got blamed. And despite these rollers work fine, I afraid to provide a source as you will blame me later :).

No lo vallas a tomar a mal, pero yo con los capstan ya afuera, los limpiaría, los ejes con alcohol absoluto y después seria que los lubricara.

Sure, no problem at all. Sometimes I do, when capstans go tight or just dirty. this deck is very well maintained.

I prefer this one. The Dragon is full of plastic.
