    Restricted airspace is an easy solution to fix ground vehicles. No need to build a fancy structure around a mission just to make ground vehicles relevant. Make it restricted airspace and make them hard so that you can't just do it in a Tumbril or something but you need varied ground vehicles. You could also add AI ships flying in to create gameplay round the AA versions of the GVs.

      This is STAR citizen, not Truck citizen. So this is a very low priority for the development.

      @@wraith511802003 Hence the restricted airspace concept. You don't have to spend a bunch of resources (people) to create some structure that only serves to provide a vehicle mission playground.

    This is the critical thinking and historical knowledge I need for eps of SCL. It can be good info but it's easy to zone out, miss key points, forget context, follow the trends of the moment, etc.

    So frustrating hearing things like "they couldn't slow the game down with the mechanics they had so they forced it to slow down with MM." Yes, they could have. The same way we slow down fighter pilots, their body. Blackout/readout in space is a thing. You fly your ship from 1200m/s one way then whip it around and burn it to 1200m/s another way, well now you're blocked out for 30sec and probably dead. They could've fixed this easily. Adjust the G limit pilots can handle. Give G suits a G rating. Make a G med pen to increase it temporarily. So many fkn ways. Lol

      you're so right, this is 1 step forward 3 steps back. They're going to have to undo this to move forward with pilot skills later.

      I don't mean they couldn't as in it was impossible. I mean they could not figure out how to do it, so they went with a faster less elegant solution.

      No, that's a terrible idea on practice. Having people just die from just flying their ships fast is a terrible gameplay mechanic. The flight system is so much better now. Before it was all jousting and now it feels much better. Now it feels like you are fighting a ship and not a pip.

    Racing thought.
    Tuning. Tune engine to be really fast with high acceleration at the expense of awful fuel economy. Makes it so you can take into the verse with guns, but not with its racing speed and agility.
    Thoughts?

      Also tuning around zero g vs in atmosphere. Short term performance vs long term reliability. Would really open up engineering and racing gameplay.

    Space Engineers has a gunbrick meme. You will find players that are totally against weapons on non combat vehicles and players that are pro weaponization of everything. Realistically it's the kind of setting were arming everything if possible is a better choice if you have PvE settings on and definitely necessary in multiplayer. I see SC as kind of the same setup, it's like the Wild West out there.

      I'm all for it. Even if they did something simpler like ensuring everything at least had the hard points for a weapon attachment. It might not make sense for Argo to have its mpuv come with guns but having a hard point available to slap some bulldogs or whatever on there would give everything a little more value and gameplay possibilities.

    The updated UI introduced various issues such as removing the altimiter which was replaced with a number, but on some ships that number is either tiny or is superimposed over other UI elements / reflections from cockpit so you cannot read the number. Improved to useless ... which will certainly be fixed.

    To fix ground vehicles being needed just make a long road from new babbage leading to a huge UGF/distro center datacenter that is 100% locked down from air space lockdown using turrets, missles etc etc etc. Force players to drive to get there for 1st leg of data running missions. Perfect place for ground ambushes by dusters, creatures (if vehicles get disabled and players have to walk rest of way), bug army ambushes, pirates, bounty hunters etc etc etc....2nd leg could be using MSR and other data runners to transport data someplace else off planet, maybe into pyro etc etc etc

      Some players, like myself, would absolutely hate to be forced to drive a ground vehicle. They co trol... poorly in the game.

    I also have idea on how CIG can tweek master modes. Create new Arena Commander PvE and PvP ship to ship combat mode where players can tweek settings and create new public experiments and upvote or down vote each. Kind of like everyone upvotes ships each year for best ships at IAE. More experimentation and feedback from players and CIG together
    Instead of CIG getting passionate overwhleming "feedback" let the players contribute feedback by actually testing feedback iteratively

    For me, master modes isn’t as bad as it was in the eptu, so I am ok with it, and if under the old model if they actually made it so missiles didn’t lock on at above SCM speeds that might have helped, but they worked just fine at all speeds

    CIG needs to focus more on core infrastructure, systems, missions, gameloops, solar systems, content. Game balance should be done but while key pieces are still waiting to come online balance should be more basic and player driven with final feedback from CIG. See my comment below for arena commander mode that experiments witb that sandboxes 1st. Of course game needs to be fun, challenging and balanced but cig cant try balance, add something new (gameloop, process, gameplay dynamic change) and then be forced to continually rebalance
    I love the arena commander experiment idea in which players experiment and vote based upon results as the game continually iteratively evolves. Think of it for CIG manhours work smarter and not harder LOL

    IMO I’ve preferred MM and think it’s actually a massive improvement and step in the right direction. Flying has been a lot better since its introduction

      ⁠MM is bad for PvP dogfighting pve it makes no difference except it is harder to mess your self up but for PvP it completely obliterates skill and is now entirely reliant on the ship you’re flying currently if you fly anything except a buccaneer you lose and in a 1v1 it’s just point and click and if you are in and multi crew ship you might as well just self-destruct as any fighter significantly out ranges and is much faster than these ships so they can do nothing it ruins all of this whilst simultaneously not fixing the problem it tried to fix being jousting and running away as you still at any time can just hold b and run in summary removed all skill screwed over multicrew ships made only one ship viable 1v1s are point and click adventure games and they didn’t fix what they wanted to in the first place accomplished absolutely nothing and ruined a good system

    Mining missions sound cool...you have to pay more than what the ore is worth or have a decent reputation gain that's worth having rep. Im not mining for hours to get 3 pixels of progress in a rep grind.

      @@ufeelinselfrighteous8470 Oh, never lol. With permadeath, I hope it isn't 1000 missions to do a rep grind. Grind doesn't equal content, looking at you New World...among others. I also hope there isn't some weird split of rep like most games do with experience. One of my favorite games was Dark Age of Camelot, partly because you could take a level one character into your party and do an end game mission, they'd get full experience and go up like 10 levels. I hope Star Citiizen keeps something like that for reputation.

      With permadeath and lineage stuff. That opens up options for scaling. Your next life could get a bonus to prior affiliates making it faster. And with potential resets not needing to make it a needless grind.

    People bring up mastermodes when youre talking about other stuff because none of that stuff matters if its in a space game where the space ships are no fun to fly. (Also recent fps changes are killing that aspect)

    The clutter is not just names... you can see it everywhere you go. Hundreds of floating icons for random shit that isnt relevant to you. Like if there are 1200 ships abandoned at a station, you see 1200 fucking markers. Its insane.

    So... Elite solved the rearming ballistics, ages ago, and made it an internal ship function using materials you find in the verse...
    Like, perhaps recycled scrap canisters filled from an optional hull scraping laser device attached to ballistic weapns in an alternate firing mode...
    God, this game is such a Broly. It's so cool, but that's so dumb...

    I don't want the game to be balanced. Balanced is just like the word equality. Nothing will ever been equal no matter how hard we try. What I'd like to see is a ship that is the "best" from a guns perspective needs to require more maintenance, require more resources to keep rolling. Embrace the beautiful differences in things, just like in real life.

      What you described you wanted is what game balancing is. Balancing is not making everything equal. In an FPS a sniper could have huge damage but its rate of fire and reload is slow, while an SMG will have massive rate of fire but far lower damage. Both suited to different situations. But neither dominating the other in all situations. If the sniper has an incredibly high reload speed AND high damage, its out of balance, thus the reload speed is nerfed to regain balance. That doesn't make it now equal to the SMG, it just makes it balanced with the SMG.

      @@IAmKlagg That's an oversimplifcation. The SC community would argue that game balance is fighters being good at fighting. It's why they think the Warden is junk, which in fact I think it's great because it has a 2500L quantum tank, beds, weapons locker, etc. Perhaps the community understanding what balance is would be a good place to start, but as defined by teh community today I don't want a balanced game.

      The Polaris is still being worked on. They have already said as soon as the Polaris is down they are gonna straight into the Galaxy and then Perseus.

    Seems like they are trolling the players a lot.. saying the missions are broken etc. Reading the guys comment that he lost hope and just laughed at it and ignored it... pretty wack..
    Still gonna keep playing, cause flying around is amazing. But pretty dissappinted overall. That much money funded and the npc ai is this bad... i don't think there is any excuse. I think the developers think the players are idiots and not deserving respect

    Vehicles are not space ships its a fact of life and they have to realize Vehicles are baloney and mean nothing they mean something but the value of a space ship in what they can do is vastly different and also far better so its would be right to say ships when its a ship & Vehicles when its a Vehicles but to use the word for both would be Wrong and miss leading

      A fellow backer had a great approach the other day. Grab a vulture and a VLRT, or LRT bounty, kill the targets with your vulture; then salvage the ships from the bounty; sell the RMC and CM

    people will stop bringing up master modes when its reverted or completely overhauled to the point where they should have just started over in the first place. if it's not brought up annoyingly then where's the pressure for them to do anything about it.

      @@thomasknight5465 I find flying more realistic, and power management more in line with traditional sifi. on top of that so much easier to run away if I dont want to bother with fighting.

    @1:44 seconds you make this kneejerk response of saying "Everything is always in active development..." when you KNOW this isn't true; The Banu Merchantman is NOT going to be out this year, is not in greybox or in final touches, LOD, and damage passes, but the POLARIS is. STOP with the kneejerk comments and keep it professional. There are only TWO systems being traversed in the 'verse. Pyro and Stanton to date, with Squadron 42's single player experience of the universe including NON multi-player elements that CAN become shared in the 'verse once the systems are fully fleshed out for multiplayer gameplay with servermeshing... ...yeah, 13 years went into making AMAZING tools for the artists to use in house to develop and maintain new content, so the SHIPS are NOT being directly developed, but the tools are.
