  • The Chair Nerds at Silver River Center for Chair Caning have finally produced a video on weaving Hans Wegner's The Chair. The instructions for weaving this chair will be included in their new book to be published (ideally) at the end of 2023 by Blue Hills Press.
The Chair is a simple pattern with some tricky bits that make the process a little tedious. We hope the Chair Gods smile upon you during your project. But trust us...don't attach the ends until the very end.

Got a beaten up Wegner chair at auction that needs a lot of TLC. This is the first video I’ve found that provides the extensive recaning directions I need to do it’s restoration justice. Thank you!

Thanks! We wish we would have had a video when we did our first one. Lots of reverse engineering and it took forever. I hope it helps! Email us a photo when you're done.

Thank you! It’s such a good chair - you are lucky to have one. The one in the video belongs to someone else. 😕

This Chair is still being manufactured. The current owners of production-rights are PP Furniture
With the cane, its model number is PP501 , It is however also made with upholstery. Then it is called the PP503
    Great work! :-D

I wonder if one could be purchased with the wood finished and ready to cane.

Hi, there! I have a question about a similar looking weaving pattern that’s being used on a lot of outdoor chairs lately. It’s an open box sort of weave, but it’s just woven around metal frames, without nails as are typically used in Danish weaving to reverse.
I have some pics and I’m trying desperately to find the technique name and instructions. I’d really appreciate any insight you might have.
