@habibi750 These are community mom and pop restaurants. They don't have the financial resources to compete with national chains with deep pockets. They are at a huge disadvantage. And, let's be clear, these restaurants were successful neighborhood eateries. These weren't restaurants in trouble. That is what's most unfair. They've been serving their communities successfully for decades, only for the land to be bought from under them to kick them out.

And that's the club where I almost got punched out by Billy Idol. No! We really need to save that restaurant. whatever it takes. It is iconic!
Sorry to see Norms close, but I think we can all appreciate that the building isn’t going anywhere. Another perspective could be “historic building to remain intact hosting a new restaurant”
Raising Cane can open a spot where they closed down a Norms on Pico. The restaurant has been leveled so they can build there and the parking lot is larger. 🤗

In the 1970s most locations had restaurants next door. Older locations has lunch counters. Restaurants closed about about 1979 or 1980.
@texasguysanantonio8295 I never knew that. Thanks.
We love Norm’s. Can’t believe it’s closing one of its location.
People are freaking out but this place was empty lmao. Don’t freak out when you barely go eat there it’s a business
lets be real norms sucks lol
@@spderman123 It really does, and now looking at the prices. Norms was the cheap food that you could play roulette if it would make you sick. Now its not cheap. I think Norms had lower quality than Dennys. There are better local diners than Norms for comparable prices. As long as they keep the architecture, Im fine with it being Canes. Never been to one, but they seem to be popping up. Hot chicken places were opening up like crazy, and they are starting to close too. This is likely another fad.
If you want to save norms, go eat there often. It keeps the business profitable.
Private Property rights must be protected.
California policies are forcing all the iconic restaurants and stores to close. You get what you vote for
Or for some of us… We get what we didn’t vote for… 😢
Sorry..city councils do not work that way; citizens do not know the companies buying land until there is a notice by the company and then city council mtgs. Problem is that no matter Republican or Democrat, these meetings take place usually at 6p.m...when most ppl are still either at work or if they are older are out shopping for dinner.
Raising Cane's also bought Pepe's location in Downey that's been here for decades as well. Chick-fil-A tore down an old Frantones pizza and Chris burgers. How are they allowed to go through cities like this
They messed up when they got rid of Frantones 😢
Because we live in the United States of America. Pepes and Frantones could have bought the land themselves
That used to be my spot.
Being replaced by Raising canes? 🤣
How could norms be taken out by a place that only sells Tyson chicken strips and thousand island dressing with French fries ? Tried it once that's my take on Canes it was a waste of money .
Ah Tyson Foods..the corporate chain that has had at least 2 food recalls this year alone..
Screw corporations, local residents better fight hard to block canes fast food chain taking over.
DON'T FORGET THE PASTRAMI! 😢
Cohen Brothers movie "Intolerable Cruelty" has scenes shot there with Cedric the Entertainer and George Clooney. Really funny and memorable scene.
I went to norms before never went back there food is not that good
Instead of getting rid of iconic restaurants do something about those dirty food street vendors
I remember when they razed the Bob's Big Boy on Wilshire in 2008 to accommodate a friggin' BMW dealership. That had the iconic (Chula Vista) ranch house design that so many BBBs were known for, and now they want to do this to that Norms??? Where is your sense of history, Los Angeles? Have you no shame? Save that store!!!
Hold your breath: they also did that to Greenblatt's which was there a looooot longer..since 1920.
NO, KEEP NORMS OPEN.
No no no no NO!!! THEY CANNOT CLOSE NORMS!! There is way too much history there! It needs to be declared a historical monument. do you know all the rock stars that used to go there after a performance in Hollywood clubs? I don't even remember how many times I've been there after the Clubs closed with my friends when we were all way to intoxicated to drive home. And that's the club where I almost got punched out by Billy Idol. No! We really need to save that restaurant. whatever it takes. It is iconic!
Wait..not Rock and Roll Denny's?
I like how she has the microphone placed. Perfect placement.
Sorry to see Norms close, but I think we can all appreciate that the building isn’t going anywhere. Another perspective could be “historic building to remain intact hosting a new restaurant”
Norms sucks, it used to be great, but now all the employees are rude and nothing is like it used to be.
Not my experience at all. You might just be generally unlikable. I mean, at least consider it. I don’t like you.

Raising Cane can open a spot where they closed down a Norms on Pico. The restaurant has been leveled so they can build there and the parking lot is larger. 🤗
Very sad. I hope this doesn't happen.
Raising Canes is good, but Norms is wayyyyy better and a great place to hang out! I hope they keep it!!!
Look at Corky’s in Sherman Oaks. Built in 1958 and now sadly to another fast food joint Chick Fil A.
Greenblatts had the same fate. They were open since around 1920.
Making $155 a week in 1971 is the same as making $1,300 a week in 2024, when adjusted for inflation.
That would have given him an income of $65,000 a year, not bad for a very young guy.
He calls it "a very low salary" because he's making a lot more than $65,000 a year now.
There are a lot or problems with this story, but let me add one more: Cane’s chicken fingers are kind of awful.
Totally disagree. I love them. But not at the expense of historical landmarks. Canes should go somewhere else.
1957, the year I was born...with that is my comment on history values... The new owner, would be wise to keep this treasure in as original condition as possible..use it as the public window to advertised genius, whatever it takes, people from around the world knows the Norm's brand, now go" raise "....that ideal....😮
I remember the San Gabriel Norms had a sign “We Never Close” and they finally closed many years ago.
Is that where the restaurant scene from Pulp Fiction was filmed?
No, that was in Hawthorne! 😉
L.A.: Norms may be replaced by a Fast Food Restaurant.
Vegas: Welcome to your new Home on Charleston and Decatur
🤣
When my Texas buddy came to visit, I gave him the royal Norms tour. We ended the day at the La Cienega Norms, a place I have been eating at since as far back as I can remember (early 60's?). I'm an official NORMS card carry member.... I'm in their club. Been to almost every Norms except those built in the last few years. I have an excuse, I live in Thailand now.
This makes me so sad.... have been going there since the 1970s...
This is all Trump's fault!
I haven’t been there in 30 years. But, I hate to hear that it’s not going to be there anymore. It’s the best family memories I have of going out to eat.
Is this where the "I had a dream about this place" scene in Mulholland Drive was filmed?
NO WAY....I was just talking to my family that NORMS should expand and open a restaurant here in Victorville high desert...
I love NORMS...❤😢😢😢
