You are just amazing for this! I'm so freaking jealous lol 😆 but proud you got it out to be ready for Ghostbusters Afterlife!! You seriously have a car that can change ya life even more now lol
Congratulations Clint and I hope you and your family have a great Halloween!! This just really makes me wish I had an Ectomobile of my own right now, but hey I’ll keep working at it and someday I’ll have one. Btw, I have been searching for ambulances and hearses through every website and old listings. And I’ve picked up a good tip; Look for listings that have the owner’s phone number, that way you can know if the vehicle is still for sale (if not then you get to hear a good story) or more importantly know if the owner is a collector of said vehicles. Believe it or not I have found a few fellas who collect ambulances and hearses for a living. So when I’m financially and mentally ready, I know who to go to.
Hey, that's awesome! Yeah - I may have told you this already, but the only advice I've got is keep looking. I search at least once a week on several different sites. The '60 M&M we found is something that popped up in our recommended listings on Facebook. My dad saw it -- we share a work Facebook. It was listed as "Chevrolet Ambulance." My dad was like.... "Uh.... You're not busy tomorrow, are you?" It was like winning the lottery. I can't tell you how long I've been looking for that car. Twenty years plus, man.

Depending on who you're talking to, you can tell them it's an Ash car, an Uncle Ben Car, or something from about a thousand other Raimi movies. We had to put new gas tanks in both the '65 and '65 Caddies. Those were sort of difficult to locate. The commercial chassis differs from a regular Cadillac with odd parts. The original strobes were airplane strobes. You are probably going to need a legit power supply depending on what type of voltage you are running on the strobes high voltage strobes usually run off 24v-48v which just running off your car battery will not give you near enough juice to produce what you want. Good luck on the build and an awesome Ecto!!!!
Hello there that power supply to the front led strobes if you put a meter on it is just five volts won’t fire those 12 volt ones. To get that alternating effect go find the flasher off a school bus for the top lights they send the 12 volts you need and you will get the side to side effect. They are very rugged made to operate 4 sealed beams at once and they do not change the flash rate regardless of the load put on them .
Nice! It looks decently close to the real one! Those strobes look like they would be a pain to mount up and look like they should. Hey, the one tag says "Georgia". How far from Valdosta? Should I be looking to catch a glimpse?
I do have a suggestion for the roof why not have the sniffer and the rad dome move because in the intro from gb 2 if you watch the ecto 1 roof you can see those two actually move and that's because if the first film you can see the sniffer move in different directions throughout the film
The sniffer can't. It's welded in place. It's freakin' heavy, and I'd be too afraid it would come loose and fall off going down the highway. I don't think they really had to worry about that when they made the movie because it wasn't a long-term thing. The radome on our car is built to move, I just didn't have time to get that working for Halloween. It's on my list. I'm thinking of mounting a wiper motor behind it.
