Same thing happened to me Ecto one night when i went to turn on my high beams. Problem with my car was the lights stayed off! Scariest thing ever 😮

I feel like the bike cop got in trouble got his car taken away and was pissed and he took it out on you

For having police lights on an Ecto-1 it shouldn’t be technically illegal as well this really should be legal and licenses should be handed out for free to all ghostbusters fans to rebuild a replica of the Ecto-1 for all fans to see and so that the fire department the police department and all other public servants and civilians can get pictures inside and outside the vehicle and not have a problem at all that way everyone can be happy without the whole thing be party pooped by some cops that are haters of the movie

I was lucky enough to work on a commercial shoot around 2010 that shot on that building's roof - I took several pictures of the condition then. Someone let me know if there is a fan site that is collecting images that I should send them to!

Such great Herbie but you missed 2 detail 1: Herbie's radio antena on the right side of the car, opposite to the rearview mirror 2: that metal pieces on the real fenders

You used far too much music in it. It is the only thing that ruined it. You have to know when and where to use it.

In my state it's not illegal to have lights on your car. You just can't turn them on.

Good job guys you combined aspects of the cartoon and movie well and the boogieman costume was a great touch Clint made a perfect stand in for Peter just as sarcastic as ever Harry was a perfect stand in for Egon with the voice to match as well as the wit and scientific mind to back it up Katie was an amazing part of this and combined aspects of Dana from the movies and a random client from the cartoon well done to the designer of the Ecto-1 (yeah it’s not 1:1 but it’s close) the jokes landed and it has a cheesy 80’s theme to it well done to the cast and crew keep it up

The modified Herbie with the Porsche engine was cool.

Hard ti believe Volkswagon didnt back those movies. Probably sold millions of VWs from people watching those movies. Those movies were real popular when i was a kid. VWs were everywhere. Pretty entertaining for the time.

No se si sea igual las leyes en los Estados Unidos, pero en caso de mi México querido si seria ilegal. What happened to your proton packs?

I recently thought about building a Herbie for a bit. I would still love to some day, but just not in my cards at the moment. I had a lot of plans to animate the car, and maybe even make it remote controlled. Things like a slight tip of the bumper up/down for a frown/smile, the horn clips from the movies played through a loud speaker, lights that could independently turn on/off, move, and put a little thought in making it wink, with lids, like it did in the later movie. Put all that together with a SBC/microcontroller, an intel compute stick, and some AI and let the car actually respond to what people said around it. I thought that would be so slick at car shows. Imagine you walk by it and say something like "Cool Herbie!" and it (all on its own) winks and smiles at you.

I have one of the WCKD security vehicles that i replicated from The Death Cure movie, has red and blue but they never run so its legal on public road

Super Beetle owner here. The 1302 has not flat laying tire you recognize them by the flat windshield, only the 1303 has a flat laying tire in the front, also the tail lights, floor plan, seatmounts and dashboard are differnt. Also the slats in the front for the oil cooler were not standard, some had it some didn't. It was an optional feature by Volkswagen which they allowed their customers to get or not. The original coolers are very inefficent and are no longer available because they had an actual fan powered by the car's battery and draining power as well. Today the coolers are swapped out against a single radiator that cools down by the wind of driving. About the head rest... it's easy to convert the ones with head rest into a pair without head rests. You just need a new seat cover and a differnt filling, even tho for older ones, it's highly recommended to actually give them head rests because in case of a back accident, they prevent your neck from snapping... So in that case I would not give a thing for accuracy and more on safety...

It's only illegal to run the licks on the road, I know guys with ex-cop cars that take them to shows and the only thing they are asked to do is to put a cover ofer the lights saying "Out of Service" only thing is that only aplies to Non-LED lightbars. All modern day LEG lightbars must be removed or only be amber. In general is illegal to drive down the road with any lashing red, white, blue or green lights on your car. My dad knew a guy that got in big trouble bc he vocered his car in christmas lights.

I'm not sure about the US but I plow snow and my truck runs a light bar and strobes orange and blue. And they can be left on while driving on roads with traffic. Any time I encountered police they don't even look

I understand where your coming from. I have my old security uniform cover in Ghostbusters patches to cover up the stuff from the company I use to work for and people would come up to me often and want to talk about Ghostbusters and a couple time I had people act as if I really was a Ghostbuster they were so excited.

I think a lot of the law stems from intent of impersonation, I don’t think anyone is going to mistaken an Ecto 1 for a police cruiser, and at least in my state I don’t even think they actively enforce emergency lights because the amount of people I’ve seen using red and blue under glow and panel lighting on motorcycles and legal registered off-road vehicles is insane. Sounds like that Athens cop needed a little power trip

If you do use them on the road and you get pulled over you just say that someone reported seeing a ghost.

in Australia, our production companies cover the lights to prevent them from being seen by the public when they are transporting the vehicle from place to place and put magnets over the portions that would get them into trouble like "police" "fire" or "ambulance" I kinda have to agree with the production companies because these days the slim line lights are easy to cover over with something custom made, they protect the areas that might get damaged plus it reduces confusion. But when it comes to ecto1, sorry to say but I'm not going to be fooled into thinking it's emergency services so I quite frankly wouldn't be a buzz kill and complain

The position , here in Scotland , is that while preserved emergency vehicles can have blue lights fitted , and they can be working , for use at shows etc , or even on organised parades , in normal road going travels , they should be covered by a hood . Incidentally - on your side of the pond - don't your police cars etc have red lights , not blue ? I do have blue lights for my own car , can't remember when I last used them , but I work for the Fire service , so if on an official journey , I could use them , but the only time I've had them on in recent years was if I happened to be first on the scene of a road accident and I wanted to protect both myself and anyone who might have been trapped in a crashed car . Which was twice in the last decade .

Officially here in the UK they should be covered up when on the road outside of events, parades etc. But most police would have just told you to turn them off in your situation

i was filming a scene locally using old cars that was supposed to be set in California so we created paper licence plates to tape over the local ones. I asked a friend of mine who is a police officer if we could do that and she said "No, it's illegal, but do it anyway. We won't care".

From what I've known, The best way for it is to have a separate key for a 'dead' switch for the lights.
