I purchased the advent calendar, and while it was pricey, I know you put a ton of work and effort into it. The box designs are so cute, and the tutorials are awesome, along with the free tutorials you are already sharing here each day. I know you put your heart into the box and had the best of intentions. I love how you showed the two examples! It is super helpful to see how different things can change outcomes. Also love how you showed how to “correct” or change the way to get the effects you want!
I opened my first box today and did the first tutorial . It was great fun. I loved it. I saw you do this on Instagram yesterday, I will give it a try tomorrow with day two's box. The sketch book is ace! I hope you manage to get more supplies of it.
I just wanted to say that I follow both yours and Lindsay’s channels and the only reason I haven’t bought your gorgeous advent calendar is because the cost of living just doesn’t allow it right now. It is super charming and so beautifully packaged. It would be a lovely experience to open a box each day. It is an absolutely gorgeous advent calendar. I thoroughly enjoyed the unboxing on The Frugal Crafter and appreciated I could enjoy it vicariously! 😆❤️ I will be watching yours too!
I watched Lindsay unpack your boxes. I had already purchased on the very very first day that it was offered. I was not upset at all that there was no paint. I thought the boxes were gorgeous. I thought the inclusion in each box was wonderful. I haven’t really started it yet Because it’s a very busy time but I just am so happy with it. Please don’t be upset. I don’t know why people say the things that they do. But I guess that’s human nature that some people are just gonna complain no matter what you do. Emma we love you. I’m so pleased to have the box. I’m saving mine for when my grandchildren cometo visit over the holidays. They’re all interested in art and I thought we could do some things together.

I watched thefrugalcrafter unboxing and thought she did a great job. I also read all the comments and thought some of them were unnecessarily unkind. You obviously put a tonne of effort into this! Great job Emma! You should be proud. While there are lots of free tutorials available it doesn’t mean the tutorials that are part of the calendar aren't valuable. My only suggestion re:paint is maybe include 2 pans - a red and a green (maybe a perylene green as it never seems to come in sets so people might not have it and it'd be a good shade for xmas). And i love that shade! Just a thought. You're great! Try not to dwell on the negative you bring so much positive!

I tried this about four times yesterday with varying results. One thing I found helpful was drawing my string and little light sockets with a waterproof Micron pen before laying down the initial background wash. I was having a very difficult time seeing my pencil guidelines under the dark background and using the pen first was much easier for me.
I've been a member of the channel for quite a while now but you really got me with the imagery of the advent box and daily tutorials using the calendar. I know you are not at 100% right now and the timing sucks but you're doing a great job! I've already FF the link to my fam as an idea for my Christmas list. Lol Thanks Emma!
I'm obviously late to the party here (just having seen a post for something like day 4 so I followed the bread crumbs back and did this along with you); I'm very impressed at how this all came together! My efforts are not for public viewing at this point, maybe after several practice shots however. In doing three so far (it helps to be able to pause the video and even go back!) I've learned a lot about what NOT to do, and some of what works better. I also live in a very dry climate and can't really see when my page is evenly wet or not. So lots to learn, but what a cute treat, and maybe I'll get some cards out of it! Thank you for doing these--I'm planning to watch all of them and catch up! ❤️
Everyone is approaching everything everyday from a different place. I love this as a new watercolor painter, not only for the tutorials, but also for the curation that went into it, it allows me to discover and try products I might miss in a store. These all bring additional value in my mind.
Don’t worry about those comments on the frugal crafters channel! I found many of them just wanting lots of art supplies and didn’t seem to add any value for the tutorials or care about quality. One of them even referenced Temu! Love your subscription boxes, your channel and your art. Don’t pay any attention to the haters. ❤
See this is a prime example of what I'm talking about this sort of discord about the frugal crafter should not even be talked about you should've been grateful for the review and kept it moving. Now people are going to have bad things to say about the frugal crafter when you know all she was trying to do was help you out

It looked amazing and I was thrilled by the contents when I watched Lindsay the frugal crafter opening the advent box. So pretty and re usable. I am sorry you have received negativity. Forget that as best you can and look at all the subscribers that follow you. Yes, tubes of decent paint may push such a box past peoples budget. Maybe in the future you could advise people what colour paints are required and the way they can source their own depending on their budget before they need to use them for day 1. Thanks Emma I know it’s a lot of planning and many hands involved to create things like this advent, unfortunately for me, My calendar arrived in bad shape 😢from there to my door step someone actually trod on it and the whole thing was ruined, every single box inside was crushed contents included, I’m so annoyed I couldn’t do the tutorial today (1st dec) using the sketch book, I emailed on Thursday & I’m waiting to see what they want to do, and hope it gets resolved quickly so I can participate with everyone else fingers crossed

@jackierohm She doesn’t use the paints from her subscription plans in her tutorials she uses her Windsor and newton or shin Han professional watercolors she also doesn’t use the watercolor papers that came with those subscriptions as she uses professional arches or the 100% cotton etchr lab sketchbooks in her tutorials as these are far superior products and make a more pleasing experience overall

Ok … I’m on my 4th go on these pretty little lights … they are starting to look “good” 😂 … I’m using a mid grade WC paper, it’s not Dollar Store but it’s not the most expensive at Michael’s either … I’d say prob same level of paint … each try is getting better but the paper seems to be buckling a little and it makes the base shade look weird 😮 what am I doing wrong? Thank you so much for the inspiration to get me started at something that I just love - regardless of what the final product looks like!😂(kind of)

@ the paper truly makes a huge difference. Check out academy watercolour paper on Amazon. Get the green cover cold pressed. It’s not too expensive but it will really transform your paintings

understand this is not your fault I am just very disappointed is all bc I want like I’m sure most want to do the projects as they come along. I’ve reached out to craftamo a couple of times and instead of sending me a specific message to give me any real info they just send me an autogenerated one saying your package has shipped but nothing more specific and I feel my hands are tied. This sorta defeats the purpose of the idea behind the advent calendar it’s meant to be. I’m highly saddened by this not to mention frustrated

Mine shipped on nov 16th and I still do not have it. And they have no specific tracking to tell me when I’m going to get it so now I won’t be able to participate like I wanted to I think this is poor management on someone’s end. I’m not happy at all esp for this amount of money

try to email craftamo and see if you can get tracking on it. you should be able to
understand this is not your fault I am just very disappointed is all bc I want like I’m sure most want to do the projects as they come along. I’ve reached out to craftamo a couple of times and instead of sending me a specific message to give me any real info they just send me an autogenerated one saying your package has shipped but nothing more specific and I feel my hands are tied. This sorta defeats the purpose of the idea behind the advent calendar it’s meant to be. I’m highly saddened by this not to mention frustrated
