Hey Bobby, as someone who “came of age” lol in the 70’s, I think everyone into rock knew what a brilliant engineer/producer/artist he truly was. He literally was at the center of what was happening then. As for now, I’m not sure most (not all) in professional music, or the listening public, know what was going on 20 years ago. I think we owe it to ourselves to be a little conceited that, we know, we know! Regards 🤘😎

My favourite Zeppelin song...that moment the Electric kicks in...it's one of the greatest bars in music history...the goosebumps were out because I was waiting for it to kick in. Definitely worth doing the live...the way Jimmy is able to make that arrangement work on one guitar is brilliant. But then the next song on the album is going to surprise you, probably the most radically different song yet...there's no bad option there.

I love the acoustic guitar to start, however, if you listen closely, the acoustic remains throughout the song and Jonesy's bass "punches" definitely pop. From what I've been able to find, the title may have been inspired by Tolkien's poem "Over Old Hills and Far Away" or an old British song from the 18th Century with the same title that was used in a ballad opera called The Beggar's Opera. They had the backing arrangements first then Robert came up with lyrics. He said it was sometimes difficult having to sing over some of the increasingly complex melody lines, but I think he sounds just fine. I love the guitar and clavinet tinkling echoes at the end; they're like a sweet dream, receding softly as you awaken. Always listen to the end of a track - you never know what you're gonna get.

Light and Shade. That's what they do. Heavy and Light. Led (heavy) and Zeppelin (lighter than air). Drama, evolution and transitions.
The fade out/fade in at the end of this song is very reminiscent of the ending of Thank You from the 2nd album.
In the future you need to make sure you listen to every LZ song to the very last note. This is very important. You'll deal with this again in the next album, during In My Time Of Dying.
Get ready for something entirely different in the next song.

We drove 7000 miles in three weeks. It was magical. As a person with theater & broadcasting experience, I would ask you to sit up straight in your chair. Leaning forward, you can't get a good breath & end up swallowing your voice. Sit back & up to allow your diaphragm to expand & contract naturally. Raise your monitor & sit about six inches closer. Over The Hills And Far Away is probably Led Zeppelin’s most complete song, as it best encapsulates the light and shade, soft and heavy, philosophy that Jimmy Page wanted to capture in the band’s music.
When I first heard the acoustic intro of this song, nearly 25 years ago, I immediately knew that I wanted to learn how to play the guitar. Every time I pick up one of my guitars, I always play this song, and because I have done so, hundreds of times, I can play most of it with my eyes closed, based solely on muscle memory.
This tracks is definitely in my top 5 Led Zeppelin song list. A work of art from start to finish.

And he wanted to know if I had that cassette talking about in that movie? (Where they said Socrates came from a time when the whole world looked like the cover of Houses of the Holy.)
As I was a giant LZ fan, and had nearly all their cassettes in my car, I quickly pulled it out.
Then I discovered the insert had vanished.☹
