Funny thing is, he's actually wrong. Mercy gives you a 30% damage boost while discord orb only applies a 25% extra damage debuff to ONE target. So if you used halt into sticky bombs with a Zen, you'd do a total of 225 damage to the target you stuck and 150 splash to the rest of the players pulled. With Mercy you do a total of 234 to the target you stuck and 195 damage to the rest of the players pulled. That extra 45 HP of damage per player pulled and hit with the bombs could be the difference between winning and losing a team fight. Sure, Valk is nowhere near as good as Trans, but you don't have to peel for a Mercy as often as you would have to peel for a Zen. You'd also have to play a lot less aggro and would get a lot less value from each sticky since Zen would need LOS to give you any value. This guy is just wrong all around.

The problem with that guys argument is that everything he stated only works IN THEORY. Its really hard to apply theory to practice, for example, technically speaking Echo should be able to get off 5 pulse bombs during her ult, and yet in practice its almost impossible to land full clip all headshots to get the pulses bombs 5 times.
He doesn't even consider flanking and shield since echo can ignore shields by going over and around them while zen can't put discord through shields so mercy gets more constant value plus she has 20 more healing per second
Thing is if you can't win against GM players or people higher than your rank, you don't deserve to climb. It's a different story if its a silver/gold vs GM though. If you believe you are a better player then you should be playing against better players.

For the people that don't know, if you are playing against echo as brig and she puts her bombs near the center of your shield don't drop it or they will stick to you but with rein you can drop it and step back avoiding all the damage and saving shield

Well actually, the start with that guy saying mercy’s ult is garbage is completely false, with the ability to keep everyone alive for 15 seconds, OR the ability to do 30% more damage for 15 seconds if the an anti-nade is chucked in there, and saying that zenyatta is a better pick is also false as zenyatta healing and damage potential is taken away by a sombra just making him useless for the start of a team fight and landing up being a burden, whereas mercy doesn’t lose any of her healing or damage potential when hacked, and mercy can revive people, that guys argument was completely false and he should have thought about how characters versatile utility can be changed by a single character, when his point was zen can do more than a mercy, but when you have read all of the above information you can realise that he was wrong and a mercy is a better team pick than a zenyatta, especially if there is another main healer on your team already, mercy’s resurrection ability can be used as a tide breaker in the middle of a team fight, and both of their ults can keep all of their team alive, where as if you read the start of this very long rant about an idiot who didn’t realise that mercy is a better pick, you can also use your ultimate to make all of your team do more damage, it would basically be the exact same thing if zen could put a discord on all of his enemies, which he can’t but mercy can which means that no matter what situation you’re in a mercy is always a better pick than a zenyatta, as she has the same kit utility but a resurrection ability and a discord orb on everyone. You can say echo is useless because ashe and soldier yet she's pretty op regardless of those 2 hitscans obviously depending on how good you are. But same applies to the hitscan players. What good is going hitscan if they can't hit their shots. Someone going hitscan doesn't mean you automatically die as echo. In theory maybe what you say is true but what use is zen when there was dive meta without any stuns to protect the backline. Mercy has way more survivability than zen because of her mobility and her res is a more useful ability than a Discord when there are characters diving in and out all over the place.
Also saying Discord has the same value as boost is incorrect. Boost is applied directly to the dps and Discord needs to be targeted towards one enemy at a time while at the same time having a line of sight to actually get that one specific target and while at the same time making sure there isn't anything obstructing the target such as a sheild while a zen is a sitting duck trying to get los and then killed because of his zero mobility.

Has to be the worst argument for why Mercy is trash lmao. Mercy is an amazing combo with Echo, has superior movement to Zen, and has the ability to res a teammate which can win fights. And her heals are the best in game.

Well actually, the start with that guy saying mercy’s ult is garbage is completely false, with the ability to keep everyone alive for 15 seconds, OR the ability to do 30% more damage for 15 seconds if the an anti-nade is chucked in there, and saying that zenyatta is a better pick is also false as zenyatta healing and damage potential is taken away by a sombra just making him useless for the start of a team fight and landing up being a burden, whereas mercy doesn’t lose any of her healing or damage potential when hacked, and mercy can revive people, that guys argument was completely false and he should have thought about how characters versatile utility can be changed by a single character, when his point was zen can do more than a mercy, but when you have read all of the above information you can realise that he was wrong and a mercy is a better team pick than a zenyatta, especially if there is another main healer on your team already, mercy’s resurrection ability can be used as a tide breaker in the middle of a team fight, and both of their ults can keep all of their team alive, where as if you read the start of this very long rant about an idiot who didn’t realise that mercy is a better pick, you can also use your ultimate to make all of your team do more damage, it would basically be the exact same thing if zen could put a discord on all of his enemies, which he can’t but mercy can which means that no matter what situation you’re in a mercy is always a better pick than a zenyatta, as she has the same kit utility but a resurrection ability and a discord orb on everyone.

Hana Song you didn’t understand what they were talking about, mercy is better with echo, zen is better than mercy in any other comp (maybe with pharah mercy is good?). Mercy isn’t a main healer neither an off one, so if they don’t make her a full main healer or a full off healer she will be only a situational hero
fuscello Alot of the shit the bap said only works in theory, like yeah Damage boost and Discord basically makes that ur doing the same amount of dmg but , u need los and barriers get in the way as with damage boost isn’t limited to one target and won’t have the barrier problem . Nowadays Id take Mercy over Zen . Rez is better than anything Zens has on his kit imo and Mercy has less weaknesses. Respect his opinion but Mercy is just better especially for Echo and Pharah ,

@@fuscello and that's useless information. Most of the time theories aren't applicable in an actual in game scenario. You can say echo is useless because ashe and soldier yet she's pretty op regardless of those 2 hitscans obviously depending on how good you are. But same applies to the hitscan players. What good is going hitscan if they can't hit their shots. Someone going hitscan doesn't mean you automatically die as echo. In theory maybe what you say is true but what use is zen when there was dive meta without any stuns to protect the backline. Mercy has way more survivability than zen because of her mobility and her res is a more useful ability than a Discord when there are characters diving in and out all over the place.
Also saying Discord has the same value as boost is incorrect. Boost is applied directly to the dps and Discord needs to be targeted towards one enemy at a time while at the same time having a line of sight to actually get that one specific target and while at the same time making sure there isn't anything obstructing the target such as a sheild while a zen is a sitting duck trying to get los and then killed because of his zero mobility.

No, mercy echo is always better option. Zen heals can get outdamaged way easier and mercy pocket lets you take riskier 1v1's with almost no punishability
I think it honestly comes down to what the support player is better at in 90% of the scenarios. Zenyatta and Mercy have quite different play-styles
