      Geneva is the show with the most original and really cool high performance and sports cars. The Chinese in Shanghai as always are showing just their stolen designs, of course in electric cars these days, which they constantly take from all the traditional car brands! Just look at their interiors. All of these Chinese cars are mainly completely rip-offs.
      They have realized that they have no fucking chance against all the high class Europeans with traditional combustion engine powered cars. Therefore they force the whole world into this fucking stupid and heavy EV shit. The chinese are the reason, that in the near future our cars will be electric with not under 2000 kilograms of dry weight. This is just insanity!

    The rate of progress by Chinese manufacturers is amazing.

    • @moogle68
      @moogle68 Год назад

      It really is, but it's worth looking at with a grain of salt, because there are a few legacy manufacturers that are now owned/funded by Ghili (not sure how it's spelled), which is a Chinese company, and China has a very obvious habit of both copying and stealing intellectual property in broad daylight, and then denying that they did so indefinitely, regardless of how obvious the offense was. I think it's fair to say that a significant chunk of their progress has been due to simply bankrolling some of these old manufacturers in order to gain unrestricted access to the R&D info and experience that those manufacturers have accumulated over the decades. I am *not* saying that ALL of their progress was gained this way, but the uncanny similarities between many of the Chinese models and the designs used by the legacy Japanese, German, Italian and American manufacturers simply cannot be denied. I think it's also fair to say that since China has been heavily involved in tech for decades, and the fact that vehicles are now moving to electric power (which requires significantly less expertise in physics and engineering, and much more in coding and battery tech) works heavily in their favor. China is also able to progress at breakneck rate due to the strict communist rule that forces people to value national identity and the collective whole over individual rights and/or needs.

    • @howard8514
      @howard8514 5 лет назад +5

      LOL @FinnishPanther is right... The reason Chinese people buy long wheelbase cars especially the Mercedes the E class is bc drivers are extremely cheap in China whereas cars such as Audi, Mercedes and BMW have HUGE taxes. Upper-middle-class Chinese people just love luxury and it all comes at a low cost. I pay my 2 maids and drivers around 40 pounds a day each and they work full time; you could probably never find that anywhere else...

      That's the problem with electric power. Though range can be solved over time, not infrastructure. A petrol car can have range of 300 miles, however there's no stress on mileage due to the abundance of feeling stations (around 14,000). If there were even a quarter of these in terms of fast charging station in the UK, electric power would soar.

      Afaik, the platform of the A8, Continental GT(C), Continental Flying Spur and the Phaeton were developped together. However, the brothers from Bentley and VW were very similar, while the Audi was quite different in the interior. If you have a look at the center consoles of the VW and Bentleys (Navi, switches,...) very much the same.
      The development of the Bentleys was a crossfinance thing to ensure that the quite old Bentley models at that time got replaced by newer models. Without stretching Bentleys finance capacity too much.

      Actually one of the problem is that people don’t use original parts or don’t buy spare parts or accessories from brand stores or authorized sellers. For example, I got a friend, who has a Mercedes, bought a rear camera from internet and installed it to her car. Later then the system broke down.
      Another friend, who got a Buick, took his car to the service all the time because of system malfunction. In the end he sold the car. My boss’ wife got Range Rover evoque, she also have same problem.

      @Emanuel D the way to tell a made in China partnership versions from the imported ones is the Chinese partnerships ones have the name of the company that made them in Chinese characters on the back (often a Chinese city followed by the Chinese name for the brand). For example, 上海大众 (Shanghai VW). As far as I know these Chinese made versions are not exported to other countries, no need when the domestic demand for cars is so great.

    Honestly speaking, Im Chinese, but the Chinese electronic car industry is not as good as they showed you in the motor show.
    Many big issues in this industry (imo):
    1) Those companies are racing to launch concept cars instead of focusing on develop better mass production cars. In fact, many companies only have concept cars for attending motor show.
    2) The government offering subsidies to car manufactures for per electronic car sold, which made those car manufactures pursue sales instead of the quality control.
    3) Some companies like Faraday Future, are being used as financing tools only.

      CTO Information yeah but those car models are twice or more as expensive over there as in the west for basically the same thing. They’re actually jealous of us.

    路虎(land Rover) actually means tiger of the road in Chinese (I guess it is applicable to the driver of those enormous SUVs)

    I think Matt forgets an important point in the long-wheel-base talk. The thing is it´s a massive status symbol in China to have a driver and be driven around in the backseat but as the owner of the car. So it´s logical that they have the cheaper versions of cars as LWB since they don´t drive them themselves.

    In China it’s quite common to hire a chauffeur. That’s why they have space, Tablets and more controls in the back seats

    The long wheel base E class is sold exclusively in India and China. These LWB cars are popular because the Chinese and Indian businessmen prefer chauffeur driven vehicles.
