I'm grateful to have this. Chuck doesn't know this, but he and I are "homeboys," having lived significant parts of lives in the older Houston. We even have a church in common, though at much different times. We're both glad this church is very much a thing of the past. The pastor was, to be kind, difficult.
I've been blessed greatly by Insight for Living through the years. I thought the series on Job which Insight ran throughout the summer of 2003 one of the most extraordinary things I've ever heard.
I don't think the following is indiscreet: many years ago on an IFL radio broadcast, Chuck did a nice little bit of wordplay about the troublesome pastor in Houston years ago, and said some words about this pastor's "themes." I truly laughed out loud. So, Chuck, if you wondered whether any of your listeners ever "got it," I assure you that at least one did, and I am amused by it to this day.

What I like about Pastor C. Swindoll, and Pastor C. Stanley he nor his church get caught up in the 45th President political endorsement mess. Swindoll and Stanley just preach the gospel and stay out of politics to the best of my knowledge. Unlike Pastor Jeffess, and Jack Graham, Franklin Graham, and J. MacArthur, they kiss 45th President's ring to much, and too our chagrin.
