Fantastic video! After graduating from Pitt I relocated to Atlanta but I remember being 7 years old back then and the clarity of this video is so great, that it feels like I’ve gone back in time, riding through downtown Pittsburgh as a 70’s kid all over again. Wonderful video! Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding footage. Sadly it lacks the type of background sounds that I like and which add so much to the atmosphere. I played the YT video "Bus Ride Noise On Rain 10 Hours Extended, Bus Driving Sound and Rain, Study, Sleep, Relax" as I watched. I never had the chance to see your fair city but videos like this almost make me feel as if I'm there. Thanks for the great presentation.
The reason it is silent is because 8mm movie film was quite expensive, and sound movie excessively costly to buy. However I went back to Pittsburgh in 1990 with a video camera so you will get the sounds here. I’ll take that as a compliment that you liked the video 👍😆 Unfortunately I don’t have any more on Pittsburgh, mainly just trolley museums there in the US, but plenty of video in Europe in those earlier days. So I will have to remain thirsty 🙁
The video was made over two visits. In the earlier one, trolley poles were in use. At my next visit, they had changed over to pantographs, permanently.
