When I was a Kid we had to load the ground driven spreader with pitch forks then drive it to the field with an International "M". Low production but it worked for the times.
Great drone work, especially with the lateral tracking shot. Unless you were driving alone in your truck. Great shot anyway. Next manure spreading video you do perhaps you might talk about the relatively new regulations in Ohio about spreading manure on frozen ground especially in the NW Ohio watershed area. I was thinking how much fun it would be to drive by and smell that. Really takes you right back. You're a five year old again.
Never farmed a day in my life, grew up in the city, but when I was little, my grandpa would take me up north to his farm. He would let me ride the small grass-cutters around, shoot his old .22s, even drive his old S10. The joy in that mans eyes when he saw me first shoot is probably one of my fondest memories. Then I ruined it like 30 seconds later by swinging the gun around and almost shooting grandpa. I got a little smack to the head after that lol. One day i'll go back up north.
nice vid Mike, nice to see some classic deere at work, that skid steer gets worked hard! would love to see more videos showing the livestock and barns on your travels, that was a big barn!
Aaah the sweet memories of childhood - doing that on a frosty day with a land-drive MasseySpreader or later the PTO driven IH and MF models - no struggling on frozen ground - when it was the only time you could get onto the ground without rutting! Looks like new UK Regns about smells and otherthings will curb what n when you can do something - great, eh? - the City boysngirls ( NO Binaries here! ) telling the country fowk what n when to do it!. Poor Beasties getting turfed out of their "warm" bedding .... on day after Christmas to boot! and wakening the deer as well - bet the 2WD was more economical than the other one(s), What substrate is the FLOOR in that Barn? Locbloc? for drainage..... not much real shelter in there when the snow is horizontal - thought there may have been a wind-break wall. Greatto see your Vids from around the country. Hat-tip to the farmer too! Slàinte Mhath
They were still getting pretty good coverage at the speed they were moving. The side of farming most people never see or want to do. I can almost smell that from here ah the good old days.
My dad used to help out on a neighbors farm with spreading manure on the fields. Said him and the farmers kid scraped it off the sides of the spreader as the farmer went through the fields and got home smelling, well, not the greatest but he loved doing it.
I don't think the odor from a manure pack barn would be as bad as from a deep pit. Anyway this is a good way to feed cattle. Out of the mud and extreme weather conditions. Better for cattle gains and easier on the cattle feeder. And boy do those cattle love to tear up those cornstalk bales!! Kinda funny to watch! Great video Mike!! Thanks for your hard work....
Great video. Question though- up here in the north half of Ohio, it's a big no no to haul on frozen ground without a "growing cover crop" on the field and you aren't supposed to haul at all on snow covered ground. Supposedly that manure will run off and contribute to he algae blooms on Lake Erie, at least for us in the Maumee and Sandusky river watersheds. Does that apply down there too? Just curious. We used to haul like this when we had a good bunch of fat cattle. I miss hauling like that.
ih1206 I’m from Iowa. But that sounds like a really good idea and it would be nice to incorporate the manure in with light tillage or with cover crop. Makes sence
@@dafarmer3721 This is true not only in Northern Ohio but all over the state. EPA makes some allowance for whether or not the ground is frozen or whether there is standing crop. Also the pitch of the soil grade and distance from "waters of the state, " creeks or swales which have vegetation, trees, etc.

Thank you for braving the cold wind and snow and tramping through the S#*T to bring us your top notch videos! You are a consummate professional.
They were still getting pretty good coverage at the speed they were moving. The side of farming most people never see or want to do. I can almost smell that from here ah the good old days.
Could do with bigger muck spreaders, those things are tiny!
I think that skid steer driver use to be a production fork truck driver haha no mercy on that machine.
Thinking the same thing. Dude was getting it DONE.
nice vid some lovely classic deere there ☺
Great video Mike that’s moving some poop 😂😂 Makes for great fertilizer
A lot of difference between states. They don't allow that in Iowa. We call it crap on ice law. Frozen ground is the stopper for manure hauling.
That's some barn. Them guys must have been wild as teenagers Lol.

A very cold looking video. I was surprised your drone could fly at all.
Very cool set up.

Impressive operation. Nice video!
Do they compost bed pack much in this area? It looked like the manure, if they tilled that up they could get more out of it.
i would like to know more about the barn. That is very nice. Another great video.
Great video as always mister Less!
