    Outstanding video. Great operation/process. Basically, you describe the entire process without somebody "blabbing for 18 straight minutes." The music is entertaining enough without being distracting or annoying. Intermittent subtitles also great as they describe what's happening (or going to happen) without scrolling and being distracting all over the screen. Your video person(s) are First Class!

    I really like this set up. I'm going to start a farm in Missouri and Hay is a great "crop" down there. Makes sense with the hay and cattle. You could buy Bull calves and raise them to butchering weight, that way you could have a new rotation of cattle continuously. As for the bales, feed the rounds to the cattle and keep them "grass fed" and sell the small bales at market. If you have good quality hay that comes from natural fertilizer like these, then they fetch good prices.

      Andrew, I'm also looking at starting a cattle and hay operation in South Central Missouri, and I was curious as to what part you're looking at. I haven't found anybody my age that can relate with me. Good luck with your dreams. Tom

    Very nice video. Good exercise for the girls. I had to line bales up to be loaded on the truck when i was 8 yrs. old. hot dirty work but satisfying. and yes, we always spread slurry on the hay field to nurish the roots for the next crop. Some city slickers who live in apartments have no concept of how a farm works lol.

    • @oby-1607
      @oby-1607 6 лет назад

      Once we get a couple of rounds done in the field, we never stop, just pull out of the windrow, calculate how far you drive with the bale tying, drop the bale, and pull back into the windrow. No hay buildup anywhere then.

    • @markgroth4380

      Why would you do that when you can just step on the clutch pedal and wait a bit, the baler has a kicker device that was designed to eliminate all that wear and tear on machinery.

    Holy. Child labor. Buy a bale wagon like a New Holland 1032 or something like that. I used one years ago and could pick and stack more bales than 8 guys picking by hand beside me. I did notice the tractor operator had quite a gut on him while the girls breathing hay dust stacked the bales on the wagon. Good way to make sure the kids leave the farm.

      @oby-1607 6 лет назад +1

      martin, anybody under the age of eighteen is considered a child by the law. Welfare, where did that come from, unless from experience.
      Farming is one of the last honest forms of work, underappreciated by most of the people who live an urban life. All I was saying is if you buy the right equipment, you don't have to have 2 girls pulling bales out of a hay baler.

    • @martinjeffery3590
      @martinjeffery3590 6 лет назад +16

      No thats not what you were saying at all,"child labour" then the poke at the driver then the piece about "the children leaving the farm " .You were doing a hatchet job on them ,small farms have to get by the best they can ,they may not be able to afford new machinery so the whole family join in and help out with the harvest
      Hopefully we are now seeing the collapse of "mega farms" and multi million dollar fraud farms
      If more millenial age people did an honest days work instead of moaning about "safe spaces " and "trans community" rights the world would be a better place

    • @TheScientistHayFarmer
      @TheScientistHayFarmer 5 лет назад

      Fertilization is a critical part to making hay. The grass mines a lot of nutrients from the ground when it's removed 3-4 times a year at several tons/acre, and those nutrients must be replenished, otherwise yield suffers. And manure, with its micronutrients and microbes, is the best manure. And the price is right, too.
