  • Looking to gain an extra 15 to 100 wheel horsepower ( depending on additional parts) by doing a simple ECU piggyback install then JB4 is the way to go for your Hyundai N vehicles.

    In this video, I have installed the JB4 piggyback tuner designed for Hyundai Kia and genesis 2.0 turbo motors. Specifically, I cover the specific install for the 2022-2024 Hyundai ELANTRA JB4 install.

      For clarification, do you mean the o2 sensor harness or adapter harness?

    If this piggyback gives the car a boost, will the NGS button even do anything now?

    • @asphalt_boxer
      @asphalt_boxer  2 месяца назад +2

      This is a good question or something that I am trying to investigate currently. I don’t have any data or statistics that say that the NGS button is still an improvement to the car after the piggyback install, I do know that if unplug it orset it to map zero, there is a significant noticeable difference in acceleration and power.

      @@asphalt_boxer Thnx I see what you’re sayin. And if I have to install that app on my phone for this piggyback, what happens if I drive and don’t have my phone? Will it be still in the same map settings as I left it?

    • @asphalt_boxer
      @asphalt_boxer  2 месяца назад +2

      @yoGmoney808 yes, if you dont run the maps/upgrades the car is pretty much still running on the stock settings. Once you set it to a certain map, it will stay on that map until unplugged or un installed.

    For a JB4 do you recommend to get the spark plug upgrades?

    • @asphalt_boxer

      Yes, from my experience following the installation with the sparks, coil packs, and fuel pump is gonna give you the best hp gain. I only did the sparks but will be doing the hp fuel pump and coils this summer!

    Ive heard that if you have a jb4 piggyback and then before taking it into the dealership, if you disconnect the piggyback and then drive around just once before you start the car again, it erases any proof of a piggyback being installed and the dealer can never see it was ever installed. Is this true? I would like to run a jb4 but scared of ruining warranty

    • @asphalt_boxer
      @asphalt_boxer  8 месяцев назад +2

      Legally, I will tell you that any non maintenance mod that you do to tour your car may void the warranty! Therefore, if you want to be safe, only have your dealer install OEM+ authenticated mods. Things like this may or may not void the warranty and legally I will say assume any aftermarket performance mod will. However, I haven’t had any problems with my car thus yet and I enjoy the power gain!

    In your opinion would you say map 2 is quicker than just octane learning the car or similar results in power?

    • @asphalt_boxer
      @asphalt_boxer  7 месяцев назад +1

      Definitely quicker than octane learning. The turbo is opened up way more! (23-25psi)

    • @asphalt_boxer
      @asphalt_boxer  11 месяцев назад

      Hey, yes with the stock pump and oem sparks you can run upto 100 octane. Unfortunately its hard to find 93+ in CT on pump so thats why ive only run map 2 (93 octane). I feel about a 20-30 hp gain with all stock parts. Therefore if you go fbo i can see 50 plus whp easy

    Be very careful doing this to your car if it’s your daily. These cars as nice as they are aren’t meant to have these mods ran on them every day. You will indeed ruin your engine a lot quicker. Especially if you’re racing it. If you’re an amazing mechanic then go ahead but if you’re paying for your work then remember the more you push it the faster it breaks. A lot of these guys on RUclips with these channels that race their elantras either have or are going to need to replace the engine relatively quick. I’ve got almost 40k miles on my 22 DCT with absolutely no problems with it but I don’t race it like these guys do. Not that much anyway. I’ve done minor mods like a catch can and engine mount and some cosmetic shit but no performance mods. All I’m saying is plan for the long run, not the quickest run. Great video helping people learn how to do things. Not trying to criticize, just provide info for people that see these vids and want to immediately run out and mod their car too.

    • @asphalt_boxer
      @asphalt_boxer  8 месяцев назад +2

      Good point but unfortunately I have to disagree with you. With this mod on my car I have daily driven it approximately 25,000 miles now I have had no issues spiritedly driving and heavily driving it and using it as my daily I cannot speak for the guys who are running Bolton meth and many other high performance mods. However, this mod will not alter your daily driving capabilities in this car by much, in fact, it is also a diagnostic tool that will allow you to codes if they were to top up. Also, if you’re going to make the statement about motor failure, you really shouldn’t understand the technology in this video. The JB for piggyback is one of the best piggyback systems for the ECU because it does not alter the functions of the ECU. Instead, it provides a higher demand input to the map, drive and fuel system, this allows for demand and allows the ECU to communicate more efficiently with the fuel and air system. Targeting the ELANTRA brand and Hyundai really isn’t a valuable thing to do here I’ve know many people who own various models of Kia, Hyundai, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and etc that run piggy back systems. To agree with your point I think a better statement that you could’ve made was that modern the ELANTRA N really isn’t needed. From factory, it makes an outstanding 280 wheel horsepower and honestly many people underestimate that. I think as far as motor failure and causing the car to come to a short life I can’t say that this product is responsible or irresponsible for it. In my research longevity really relies on maintenance and upkeep, which is mostly owner driven. Of course, as I say in any video, please be careful, or installing anything on your car as up to the owners risk.

      You can do bolt ons like intercooler and performance radiator to improve engine temperature and make it run more consistent which is better for the engine. It’s pumping too much boost into the and wrong tune engine that will cause issues.

    • @asphalt_boxer
      @asphalt_boxer  8 месяцев назад +2

      @Reptilianoverlord-jc8mt A high flow radiator will not add power! The mods that your suggesting are maintenance mods, ill be uploading more videos like that soon! So far Ive had no issues with cooling in both Hot and Cold weather.

      All I’ma say is you’re telling me about how it decreases the longevity of the engine yet you’ll have issues with that catch can with warranty. All I gotta do is unplug some shit and tell them it just started running funny 😂 with all of my maintenance paperwork up to date. Warranty covered. They’ll probably blame your catch can as the issue of engine failure
