Absolutely marvelous tradesmen who really knew and understood the art and skill of working metal. We are in awe of all of them!

My neighbors from England just showed me a knife they had made by Fred James right before he passed away. They said he passed away while he was doing their knife and his wife had to finish the knife.

Great film, but can't someone tidy up the audio? It's very difficult to hear what the lady says.

Incredible. Not only has all that skill nearly dis-appeared in Sheffield, now the law is such that lock-knives are ILLEGAL to carry on your person in the UK. How times change.

My great grandfather and grandfather was ornental black smiths and were able make anything from steel or iron. Their English name was Steel/e. Does that give you a clue how long they have been forging steel?
