30 years ago, Mike Powell set the world record. Will that record finally fall at Tokyo 202ONE?

      Nope

No, but there are some really young athletes that have jumped more than 8.50 so I think there is possibility it will break during the next years at some point.

Hard to call it evolution since the 4 best jumpers happened in 1968, 1987 and 1991

    • @lexsoft3969

1987 by Robert Emmiyan who had 8.86m ? His jump was uniquely impressive.
WC 1991 final gave the greatest competition of all time.
Four of Carl Lewis's jumps were at least 8.80m, including 8.91m wind-aided. But Mike Powell beat him in the last jump of 8.95m for a new WR.
We have never seen such great achievement since then.

With all the high tech available now, am sure it is not a big ask to measure jumps from where they takeoff rather than a fixed point at the edge of the board. Rarely will athletes plant a perfect takeoff on the edge of the board, more prevalent however is a few inches short or a few inches over the mark. It would certainly reduce stress levels for jumpers and also bring out the best in them, if this simple administrative problem could be more user friendly. My two cent piece...

Meanwhile LeMoney James ran away from his last olympics.
Where's James Harden, Jimmy Butler, Paul George, John Collins, Ja Morant, Trae Young, Zion Williamson, and Stephen Curry?
These players only care for personal stats in their stat-padding league.
They've disrespected the olympics. That's it.
