literally was just gonna drop a comment about this. so much crazy stuff going on and so many young kids are involved now, Ross' coverage of it would be perfect
I was told a lot when I was a kid "You'll either be dead or in prison" by all the adults around me. So much that on my 16th b'day I remember a woman who was like a mother crying cos she couldn't believe I'd made it to 16 alive and out of juvie. When you've got no options, untreated ptsd, you're left in dangerous situations and no-one cares to help and you're told constantly that you're going to die - It gets in your brain. Why bother planning to live or trying when everyone you have around is so confident there is no reason for you to. Watch what you say to the young people around you, because they're picking up what they hear the most and believing it. In that situation making it through, and living for that day is a win. They're not 'throwing away their lives' when they're told and shown they won't have lives to live and plan for anyway.
I’m from the Bronx. I worked at a high school as a mental health therapist and majority of the students struggled to see life outside the Bronx all the different things they could achieve. Every day life and day money would get in the way and they were really focused on surviving. It’s very sad
They are a waste toss them in russia hell is where the are headed. Sad are INNOCENT victims that had to witness there crimes... And the poor good kids who are afraid to go to a playground. No accountability No matter what you went threw it's there choice. I lived it and chose the right path. I take accountability. God is not going to let them in because they had a hard life. The social media,,,, @HonkeyKongLive is soo disturbing 😳 because,, it’s the devil’s works, mobile phones.. internet social media, is cumm for da, world, satan.. works💯🙏🏽
Just started the video, but as someone who grew up in the Melrose projects, and who lost a homie to the gang shit going on thank you for bringing light & attention to this area / situation. RIP Moises Lora.
I knew Moises, he lived in Jackson pj's next to Melrose. I went to m.s. 31 and was walking home with my friends, 7th grade. We were walking up the hill from concourse village heading up to Franz sigel park, he pulled up on a scooter with his homies, a bunch of big black dudes high school age and slapped my friend. We had to run because his friends started coming after us. I then went to alfred e. Smith and saw him around cus they added a school into the building for high school drop outs. He got stomped out in front of my building, 300 e 158th st, left a blood stain on the cement. He was in a gang and wasn't up to any good. He was a tiny nigga who had big homies but got caught by himself. R.i.p. tho
I’m glad my parents were able to keep my siblings and I out of this B.S. . Now we all have been able to keep our children. Away from so much if this painfully gang mentality. So generational wealth has been growing within our family.
This is one of the saddest documentaries you’ve made yet. Considering the young age of all these kids, and seeing their live videos committing crimes wanting to smoke each other - just sheeeesh. It’s so depressing to see how lost they are in this crazy world. No direction, just fueled by violence lost in beefs that are older than most of them.
This is sad, I’m from the Bronx and have hung out in these areas, and I’m sure I’m not the only one to have friends and family from some of these places. But an unpopular opinion and even unspoken truth is that for some of these individuals, this is an escape for them and possibly fun. For some, conforming to street life is better than having nothing. Home situations are most likely terrible, financially unstable, parents aren’t around… It’s an ideal situation to come up with someone who has similar struggles to you, there’s comfort in Misery. These guys really do form Strong bonds, they hustle together they fight together, even wear each others clothing..it really does go that deep. A lot of my friends I grew up with didn’t care about school because they made enormous amounts of money from scamming and other forms of hustling . They could virtually do whatever they wanted. That lifestyle is very enticing, that’s not even including the popularity from the occasional rapping. It’s sad but A lot of these kids do feel untouchable
You're 100% right bro. My mother knows DThangs mother and from her own mouth she told me how terrible of a mother she was and how never he never had a pops, And how she never looked after DThang etc... Most of these quote on quote big bad killers literally come from nothing and grew up in horrible home's. I can't get angry at these kid's, They really don't know any better, Grew up with zero guidance and zero positive male role models. It's no wonder they do the shit that they do. If no positive strong adult role models steps in, Then death or prison is inevitable for the vast majority of these kid's growing up in the streets.
@@jumpstart55million We been blaming the fathers for decades but its time we start looking at the mothers. I always said the cycle continues because of the mothers, not the fathers. Most of these women decided to carry without even a stable relationship, forget about marriage…Not to mention they are incentivized to become single mothers because they’ll get government assistance. And ive seen videos of dthangs mother and his grandmother, they’re all trash. He didnt have a chance…
@@casket8530 You're right about that. I grew up poor white trash, think pills crack and trailers, raised by a single mom. But she loved me and my brother and despite what she was doing, she made sure to hide us from what she could, and even when we were adults NEVER encouraged or enabled us to do the stuff around us. Kids around us though, their parents didn't care. Seemed to love the drugs more than their kids, and those kids grew up to be a bad way. To this day, the hardest thing I've ever done is shrooms and I did it once. Don't even smoke cigarettes. Don't have a record, have a job and money which is unheard of where I come from. A single mother can absolutely do more for their kids than people like to let them think. Ik plenty of families of single moms whose kids went a bad way, and those moms are ratchet. I won't say the mom can always be held accountable in every situation, but they certainly can do more than we think.
@@godwarrior3403 Thats not the issue though. A single mother can raise a child, but cannot raise a young man. It's this mentality that has devastating impact on boys and young men. I never said or implied that single mothers are incapable of loving or raising their children, I'm saying almost all prison inmates come from single mother households.
@@casket8530 I think you misunderstood my comment. I was agreeing with you, but now I see I actually disagree. I may be from a white place, but still a poverty and crime stricken place where prison, crime, and death are all too common. I'm raised by single women exclusively, and as I said have never had the legal trouble or crime or drug trouble of many of those around me, because the women who raised them were ratchet. It has nothing to do with their sex. It's their character. Hood moms are almost certainly overwhelmingly ratchet women, and the ones who aren't, probably have better kids. A single woman can absolutely raise a young man, but she can't raise anything if she herself is worthless.
Being from the Bronx, I can happily say that my teenaged son, while still in the Bronx, gets to grow up in a much nicer, safer area than his mom and I lived in. He's got a much better childhood and goes to a much better school than either of us had too. The BX isn't just all straight up pandemonium, like any other place. So I'm glad for that, but it's not like he's out of the woods yet. Yeah, we keep him occupied with things that'll keep him out of the streets, but kids are kids. We've all been there... That rebellious era. Chasing & tryna impress the wrong type of girls put me in some precarious positions unnecessarily when I was coming up. I survived by a combination of common sense and luck. I just tell my kid all the time to make good choices and never be afraid to hit me up if he finds himself in a crazy position. *Edit to Add:* As an adult, I've run into cats that I used to beef with. Once at work, and another time while taking a class at my union hall. And it's all love. Both times we've talked about how senseless a lot of the shit we used to be involved in was. Like I told someone else in the comments, cooler heads usually prevail with maturity, but so many impulsive ass kids don't live to make it to that point, smdh.
you just make sure your kid don't go in heavily gang affiliated places. bc God forbid, if he's still a teenager there's still that dangerous. be on point ALWAYs. don not slip.
I hate how some of the young brothers in my area with green grass aint living in the hood. Doing the same crap like when i & other folks living in the hood and all. Yelling they in struggle when they father a doctor and mom a GM at walmart or something 😂😂
Ross you are hands down the best "street" documentary maker in the game. Each one gets better and better. At this point I am honestly surprised that you have not heard from Netflix.
It hurts to know that my generation has paved this path for these youth. I'm a born and raised Bronx kid, not even 30 yet. And I was there when crip and bloods was on the rise, I was there when OY/YG started but I didn't care for anything other than being 74 Hoova since I was cool with Black Mob Tribe and BHB. Growing up in pelham but molded by university/e Tremont. We did our dirt, did shady things, but we let the younger ones believe it was cool, thus making them more savage then we were. Growing up I always had OGs try to mentor me and teach me things other than gang banging but when they started moving, dying getting locked up...no one had the mentality to mentor the youth you see now. That's why they are beyond reckless. Kay Flock starring shit in other opps hoods, if he was under my OG at the time, Kay would've gotten the shit slapped out of him by OG and the whole block.

@@WalterWhite-df2hh alot the gang members are in their mid teens to Very early 20s. Almost all of them are on social media and brag about their opps and the beef they have. Alot of people give them attention in views and followers and as such it fuels their egos. Back in the day it was violent sociopaths who bragged about it to their friends. Nowadays its violent and Vapid sociopaths who brag about to their followers and viewers who can number from 50 to 2 million, which causes them to chase for more attention which means more reckless bullshit, more shooting and tragically more dead men, women and even children.
a sad thing about this is that the way things move today a lot of these kids will be forgotten by everyone except their close families pretty quickly whether they lost their life or are spending the rest of it in prison. People still talk about a couple rappers from early Chicago drill but not much and trends come and go even faster now. Not saying it's worth losing your life if people remember you (it's not.) But 2 years from now not a single person is going to be saying Kay Flock or Rah gz was a legend. That's really sad man, don't throw your life away for nothing.
Sad to see it this way. I grew up in the Bronx for the first ten years of my life, but I never imagined it to get much worse. I knew it was ramping up again in the Bronx , when my dad was walking to his car after work, to find that someone had broke into his car, stole hundreds of dollars worth of high quality barber equipment, and to top it all off, a shattered window. I can't even say I'm from the Bronx without someone from a different borough, or hell even state, assuming I'm "dirty" because i grew up there, even though I now live in a quiet town across the GWB. Lucky are we to have proper guidance to prevent ourselves from falling into this never-ending circle of violence. But yes, at the end of the day, everyone is responsible for their actions. I fear for my dad, a hard working man, working in the Bronx. A few weeks ago, there was an active shooter at his job - fired bullets but thankfully no one got hurt. Dangerous times we live in. It makes you feel for all the hard working people who are trying to make a living, while having to see the city around them grow heavy with crime again.
social media has a lot to answer for.. talk about the dangers of the vax and you get yer account shut down, make threats and celebrate gang killings and its fine.. we are past the point of thinking this is just bad policy when its quite obvious its deliberate
Been there since birth till I was 18 over the years I’ve seen the changes and it’s been getting worse. Haven’t been back since I left but my homies that are still alive are saying it’s getting even worse than it has been. I believe it.
Wow this guy does his homework. I’ve never seen somebody explain the layout of how gangs work out here so well. I’ve tried to explain this to people and everyone just ends up scratching their head. The only people who know and understand this sort of stuff is those who are or were actively involved.
He mastered his environment at a young age as far as survival. The Bronx is a wild city honestly it's just as wild as Chicago. It's practically the same difference. A lot the youth is raised in broken homes. Imagine living in a broken home and having to survive a broken environment. He was a product of his environment.
Can we all just appreciate the effort he puts into these videos, of course there’s going to be mistakes if it’s over an hour long, the fact that he even is fixing them shows his work ethic, props to you Ross
Bunny hopping is the term where someone is walking with a gun on his waistband for the purpose to conceal and shoot an enemy at close range . The bunny hopping is basically when someone is walking with a limp almost hopping because they have a gun on their waist trying not to drop the gun under their jeans . So they say if they see you bunny hopping theyll shoot you because they know you have a gun.
I Appreciate your videos for the fact you make a point to show how truly sad these kids experience really is. Poverty, lack of opportunity, failing school systems, peer pressure, no guidance.. imagine having all that stacked up against you? Don’t take anything for granted. Great video as always 🙏
This is sad man. You did a good job putting all this in perspective. You can't blame these kids cuz they learned it from us. One way or another we all have played a role. Weather you live there and participate or simply enjoy the music. I really hope this generation can break this cycle. An stop letting major labels profit from these kids deaths. Salute trap lore. An salute to all the youngins going through this around the world. I hope God blesses you in this life or the next. One love

This behavior is pure idiocy. We are all much more reckless at this age, but this is an inexcusable desire to crash out. Not considering the inevitable years in prison seems almost special needs like to me.
and they don't care, they just don't care, the gang life is all they know, it's not like they have a family they comin' home to, it's so sad that they feel that's all their worth for
They funny thing is they do be having family, they do be in good homes, when y'all gonna realize they do this because of social media standings, to be popular, feared, and respected. It's cool to them. It's a thrill, it has nothing to do with the environment at all. There's plenty of kids living jus like them that don't turn out like this, they actually turn out pretty damn well. No matter the circumstances because there are consequences to every choice, whether it be good or bad...even not making one has its consequence as well. Damn! All that shit has happened?
That’s so crazy. It’s so true that kids will take to heart the things that adults or others around them say. Words are truly powerful.
You know we can see you right

Usually just quietly enjoying the videos but I really have to give probs to you. Amazing content. I think I’ll join the patreon!

Its always crazyness like a movie in NYC but its also a major tourist destination so you won't hear abt everything
i fell asleep watching too i had a dream taking to ross about finding solutions
Already know this is gonna be a classic. This is what tlr does best
So comprehensive
The fact Kay flock was buzzing and still strolling through the Bronx drippy was Crazy
I was hoping you would’ve covered this Bronx scene & you did, I now have something to look forward to after work!
“If a friend smokes with a opp by mistake you gon get shot by mistake”. Smh
Sad as hell....
Bronx resident here. I don’t keep up much with gangs so thank u for putting me on lol but the Bronx is getting worse, this summer will be wayyyyy more ruthless than ‘20 and ‘21. May God protect us 🙏🏽
Living in the X myself, even not knowing, you could just feel it's going to get worse. Safety to everyone
Ross really putting in work on this research. I’m here for it!
As a native Bronx resident this is pretty accurate. Every block has beef with one another, it’s really crazy and it’s just getting worse. As much as I love being from the Bronx, it’s not a place to raise kids. Can’t wait to get out
New York is not good for raising a family, not just the Bronx
the end was a very good lesson for every kid on their block, selling drugs, spinnin opp blocks, stuff like that, its rlly tragic, and we need to do something about it.
This video needs a sequel, lots of other gangs/artists needs to be mentioned and more events happened after this video
I Rate how Trap lore Ross actually did the research about the history of Gangs and The invention of Hip Hop coming from The Bronx good looks my G
Definitely him name dropping DJ Kool Herc surprised me
Yo when that preacher yelled, "if you know something, LET THE FAMILY KNOW !" I felt that.
Can’t wait to watch this, last ones have been unbelievable documentaries. Fair play 👏
1:21:57 the unholy wheezing that came out of me listening to these phone call disses. What the hell?! 🤣
But in all seriousness, as usual, great documentary🙏
Thanks Ross! Youre the best investigate youtuber/journalist out there, who turns the spotlight on some of the most cruelst, vicious parts of what rap has become
Your docs are very well made man. I don’t even listen to trap but you just lay out information on this interesting topic very well keep up the good work
Hey TLR, thank you for the constant stream of quality videos. I'm at a low point in my life right now, the only thing keeping me sane at this hospital is this documentary of yours.
This is why having a father is important. Disciplining and correcting these young brats before they end up dead of in jail.
No having father or not has nothing to do with this
and how would YOU "correct" these young "brats" today? a belt and beatdown aint changing nobody today. that works only for the drug addicts.
Yeah, like Ksoo (Hacked Robinson) and his dad . Gread dad for real. He accompanied Ksoo straight from the crime scene to jail and
Will be there for and with him in prison too. Good job as a father! Don't it?
@@jayson.win231exactly!
@@RRDB92belt to a gun city! Really?
You are really official with the content. I have learned so much about the backstory of the lyrics I listen to mostly every day from watching your videos. Don't pay attention to the haters. The breakdown is always great and I like how you throw in positive messages. I wish you much success. Keep doing your thing.
The "Conclusion" part in all of these gang videos never fail to hit me in the feels. Absolutely beautiful and well-spoken, Ross. Keep these coming. 🙏🏾❤
Ross your content is amazing brother. The fact that you get this much information while being in a whole different continent shows dedication. Keep up the great work man!
You did a great job at being unbiased and keeping the fact they are children as the only factor that really matters. They don’t have the tools to make the proper choices and also for the elders are to blame for their lack of trying to guide the youth. I have met many of them and they aren’t bad people actually really cool and funny to be around they really are just kids
Everybody who says that he should’ve left the Bronx don’t understand the NYC mindset of someone who grew up struggling there. Once you make some money you wanna chase that nyc dream you already had when you was a lil kid. Also his music would’ve not resonated with the fans if he was in a different environment.
I’m glad you gave respect to where hip hop rap music was born and drill music USA
It's surreal when I see trap lore Ross talk about places I've been before these blocks are a short train ride away
Ahh the good ol days of ridin the A train, I miss it
U my dear friend deserve a lot of success for the quality of work u do and also the quality of the presentations. Kudos²² to u
It sad record labels are encouraging, no making huge profits from the lives and deaths of these young men and not caring. In a way, they are helping drive some of this violence. If not, they’re surely not helping. Excellent content.
Yeah its fucked but labels not there to care for u or or guide u to the right path lol its all about money not being a Mentor. They know what they doing and the artist knows what hes doing so sad idk .And caring for them and steering them rite falls only on mom and dad not labels
Nah you dumb. Everybody makes the choice to politic and affiliate with the hood. Record labels just tryna capitalize on whats popular
@@tommybrown1877 True. But some of these kids don't have that parental presence in their life from the start. If they did, it's extremely weak or they wouldn't be completely be draw to the streets. Strong members of family can act an advocate so that the labels won't run over their child.
Labels are about money..nothing more.
This has been going on since the beginning of rap. Chuck Dee talks about it all the time.
What r they guna do? U can tell people u don't have to live like that no more but 99 percent aren't going to listen anyway.. I've heard of people in management trying to stop beef.. but it's ultimately fear that controls a lot of these violent actioms
Dude is wearing designer clothes but couldn't even tell him apart from a hobo.
I think Kay-Flock let all the killing, dissing and money go to his head. He had it all and couldn't keep it together. Beware the teenagers on scooters. Edit* (in the Bronx)
Bro y’all shut up y’all outta towners or old aaa adults gmft bro y’all say flock was masked up and bundled up that nigga came out the barbershop and started fucking problem crazy how y’all don’t know none and speaking heavily on New York politics when y’all be wrong
Nigga what💀
@@leonardodandrade8675 bro it don’t matter who started it,in nyc it’s illegal to carry a firearm, back in the 90’s n early 00’s u couldn’t even walk with a knife that was too long. The fact that Kay had a gun and used it to kill somebody on camera means he’s going down, simple.
Flacko 1952 You can’t go to the enemy territory on purpose with a weapon and then claim self defense. Nigga ain’t use common sense.
He had a logical pride. He made his money on drill music and if he left the hood and kept on making drill music, they would’ve called him a phony. If he left the hood and made regular rap, people might say he went Hollywood and forgot his roots.Once you enter that drill lifestyle,it’s really SUPER hard to leave.
Loving this one thanks for sharing very information blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Once again trap lore Ross with another educational video 👌💯
I love these 1.5 hr documentaries Trap Lore keep up the good work 👍
First tuber I’ve seen do this story and mention Vietnam. I don’t know if I even like this dude but I gotta respect the amount of research he does.
I realized two things here. First, Ross is definitely the world’s foremost expert on drill rap. Second, drill rap is an absolute scourge on society and it will go away soon enough.
This was definitely one of the most educational insightful docs you've done to date imo. Bronx drill music hasn't sounded the same since watching this
@@Jesus__Christhe meant hasn’t sounded the same to him
Ayo Ross Thank you for this video ima watch on patreon
It’s crazy because it definitely is reminiscent of the beginnings of the Chicago drill scene. And a lot of people are gonna end up dead or in prison before people will actually make it mainstream
Absolutely correct 💯
I’ve watched this 3 times now. It’s a really good doc lol
