Stack your images layers in exposure order (under exposed on top down to most over exposed) then do the greyscale mask on each layer except the bottom one (most over exposed). You can go in and alter the colour balance input level on each layer mask to get a good balance between all the layers. Then just merge them all together once you’re happy with the result.
